Chaos In The Darkness; Salvatores's Salvation-Chapter 102: The Scary Don- II
Straight to the point it was then.
"I was not intimidated by anything." She told him the truth. "It is just that I don’t think I would ever be able to live in that house alone. It has too many memories and I don’t think it would help me move forward especially when. . . " Not having any more ways to say Evelyn just ended up giving him a shrug.
He titled his head. "Have you ever received any kind of calls from your uncle and aunts threatening you to do anything?"
Evelyn frowned slightly. Where was all of this coming from and all of a sudden? The dinner had gone well because she was present there, so she knew that for sure. But what about the office? Something had to happen there.
"No, Salvatore. Nothing." Except for the luigi incident none of her relatives had called her. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
He gave her a nod but his eyes did not soften like he usually would look at her nowadays.
What was going on?
"Did Luigi say something that you by chance missed out while telling me?"
Evelyn again shook her head. "Whatever he said you know."
"I do," he lazily drawled out as he nodded to himself. "Your relationship with your family members does not seem to be right."
Evelyn chuckled. "I used to have good relations with my aunts until my mother was alive, then I had good relations with my uncles when my father was alive. Now both of my parents are gone, so I have no relations with them."
Which was the truth and since Salvatore had practically seen what happened, even if it was under the wraps, Evelyn knew the Don was intelligent enough to observe what kind of family she had.
They were not nice enough people to be called as family and that was the bitter truth that she would have to deal with in her life. He gave her a nod. "And were you serious about the change of name of ownership for the house?"
For that thing, she was as sure as she could be. Evelyn had to move forward and the house would do nothing but hold her back. The memories she made would forever be with her at the house had to be left back and as much as she regretted it was important to leave it behind.
"I am." She admitted. "Would you be kind enough to deliver the papers to my uncle?"
He nodded. "I can be kind enough, yes." He murmured to himself and Evelyn could not help but notice that something was wrong.
In fact, she now noticed The lighting of the room. When she had previously entered here by mistake that room had been played bright enough for her to see everything but now it was more dimly lit.
If he had work to do that he would require the right amount of light. So that meant that Salvatore was sitting here and at that moment Evelyn’s eyes went to the drink on the table. He was drinking?
She could not help but from lightly at that before her eyes went to him who was looking at the drink himself.
What was going on?
"I did not like the way they addressed you." His chest moved down slowly as he exhaled. "They all knew what the rules were, yet I had to remind them that you were with me. Your cousin knew it very well when he could corner you in the university. So, how come your family members forgot how to greet and treat you?"
Evelyn wanted to bitch about her family but she had no words to say. They were how they were and she could not do anything to change it.
"When your aunt addressed you like that, I wanted to wrap my fingers around her throat and squeeze it." He gulped a sip of the drink. "Your father must have kept them at bay which is why they are not ready to leave the house now."
She nodded. "I barely saw them growing up unless it was some kind of function where they needed to be."
With the way that he addresses all of it, Evelyn could not help but feel some ominous feeling coming towards her for the entire situation.
His eyes raised from the glass that he was staring at and at her. "Luigi touched you. I can see the bruise forming on your elbow."
Glanced at the elbow where one could see the formation of the bruise. The colour had darkened and it was brownish purple now.
"I have got you a gift, Evelyn." He said before he huffed a laugh. "Actually it is more of a revenge for myself but I Would still like to present it to you."
"Present it?" She whispered in question. "what is it?" When did he have the time to purchase anything for her unless he had to get out in the morning?
He pointed to somewhere behind her, "go and check my jacket pockets. Take out everything you find in there."
At the very unique and peculiar request which Evelyn knew that she could not deny she nodded and stood up only to walk where he had pointed to. She found a hanger there. It only had his coat on it. The very jacket that he had worn to the dinner with her family.
She slowly moved to the jacket, having no hurry to reach the particular spot that was inside the office itself.
Upon reaching the jacket Evelyn could make the outline of something heavy placed inside the right side of the jacket. It was definitely on the inside and that was something she could tell by just looking.
What was it though? And if it was so heavy in weight where the jacket was leaning on one side along with the hanger, why had he kept it inside his jacket and not on the table?
Evelyn pulled the right side of the jacket away before reaching inside and grouping something that she could find inside the pocket. Her forehead creased when she realised something familiar about it.
With bated breath, she pulled it out only for Evelyn to drop the bloodied hand on the ground with a loud scream.
