Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension-Chapter 87 - 86:The Imperial City..
"Sigh.... Why did I even allow this" Valen sighed..
The exhaustion in the old man’s voice evident as he leveled a tired gaze at my position, perched peacefully on the large beast’s beak..
"Don’t be salty old man, traveling alone isn’t any fun now don’t you think?" I waved off his displeasure dismissively, returning to what I had been doing before I was so rudely interrupted...
Screeeeee!!!!
"Why the fuck are you still here? Get off"..
"Why wouldn’t I be here? How else am I suppose to reach the imperial city?"
"By traveling on the aircraft provided, obviously!!"
"You don’t possibly expect me to share the same space as those losers right?" I was honestly shocked that anybody would expect me, to share the same space as a bunch no names..
...
(A/N: blood says this only because he had another option, tsk..)
.....
"Fine. Whatever. But why the hell are you sitting on my fucking face
"That sounded absolutely wrong"
"Then get of my face dipshit.."
"How does a freaking blender mishap even know what that means"
"I’m more knowledgeable than your three generations, you blubbering fool"
"At least my three generations actually knew what they were, they weren’t something put together by a higher power with too much free time and nothing better to do"..
"What did you just say??"
"I said you’re creations attempt at creating the perfect creature yet they misfired"
"That’s it!! You’re dead!!"
Screeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
"Sigh..... I should never have allowed this" once again, Valen sighed, wondering just what witchcraft had come over him, enough for him to allow the travesty that was Dante traveling with them..
His precious and cherished peace seemed to have found its fated nemesis...
Yet, beneath all that, one could still spot a faint, indulgent smile gracing his features..
The antics of the two seemingly bringing a lively atmosphere to what would’ve otherwise been a dull traveling experience, and so, with the wind picking up, and his sense of balance being threatened by an over agitated griffon, Valen closed his eyes once more, trying(in vain) to meditate...
....
Three days later..
After three days of an what I would most certainly call an eventful flight, we were finally approaching the Imperial City..
The true heart of the Eastern domain of the human continent...
As we got closer and closer to the city, with the wind whipping my hair wildly, the view stole my breath away..
The imperial city, Solaria Prime...
The first thing that hits you wasn’t 1the sight, but the pressure.Even from high altitude we were in,I could feel it, the air within the Imperial City was so thick with Stellar Essence it felt like we were flying through warm, golden clouds, It was a sensory overload. the smell of ozone and burning metal mixed with the faint, rhythmic hum of a city that never seemed to stop its motion reached us all the way to the heights we were at..
The city was built upon seven titanic mountain plateaus, the sovereign steps, valen had called them, From the sky, they didn’t look like anything created with the thoughts or wellbeing of mortals in mind, they looked like stairs that led to the very heavens themselves... Each plateau seemed encased in its own sub-climate, ringed by a shimmering, translucent dome of solar energy that turned the sky into a shifting mosaic of gold and amber.
The architecture was a defiant middle finger to the laws of physics. Buildings carved from Aurelian Quartz, an absurdly expensive and rare material that didn’t just reflect the sun, it absorbed it. We reached the city by midday, the blazing hot silhouette the city casted being a view so mesmerizing I could only stare in awe..
At the absolute center of the highest plateau,
here, sitting in the shadow of the Solarium Apex, the Imperial Citadel.
It was a fortress of white marble and gold, a sprawling expanse of jagged spires and reinforced battlements that looked like they were forged, not built. It was a masterpiece of imperial arrogance, grand enough to house a dynasty of people who had known true power from the moment they were birthed..
With waterfalls of liquid light cascading from its balconies into the plateaus below. It radiated a heavy, ancient pressure that demanded your unwavering reverence..
Yet, for all its grandeur and majesty, it sill stood pale in contrast to the true masterpiece of the entire city, there, piercing the atmosphere like a needle through silk, the Solarium Apex stood like a silent sentinel... If the spire in Helios was a candle, this was a freaking supernova.
It was a colossal pillar of shifting liquid metal and shimmering white hot runes, five times the diameter of any sub-spire.
Its summit wasn’t pointed, it opened like a blooming lotus, the mesmerizing view of the Solar Hearth, an object of wonder, a captive fragment of a literal dying star that pulsed with a visible heartbeat stole my attention. This was the ancestral hearth, the source code of the empire’s power. You could see the Light being transmitted wirelessly from its crown, arcing across the sky like golden lightning to feed the lesser spires across the eastern domain.
Everything here seemed designed to filter the weak from the strong, even the very breath one took because the essence density was so high, a breath felt like taking in liquid flames... For a normal citizen without any protection whatsoever, a single breath was enough to induce a heatstroke. But for those with the proper strength to handle it, the air could easily be considered a perpetual stimulant, a constant "shot" of energy that keeps your reserves buzzing and your senses sharpened to a razor’s edge.
I could feel the skill <Solar Empowerment> buzzing with literal excitement, a rush of adrenaline and power shooting through me as the passive state took effect silently.
The streets were paved with Obsidian Glass, etched with shifting runes that seemed to allow the massive Solar Galleons arriving from other destinations to dock directly against the balconies of high-rise manors. There was no concept of dirt here. No grime. Only the cold, sterile perfection of a city that has spent millennia perfecting the art of being "Superior."
The people didn’t walk so much as they glided through the obsidian streets, their expensive silks trailing behind them, their eyes glowing with the reflected radiance of the Apex.
From a single glance, the difference between the denizens here and those of the other cities was clear..
Solaris prime was a place of absolute beauty and subtle cruelty.. a golden paradise built for the strongest monsters within the eastern domain..
More and more, I seem to understand clearly why those from higher cities looked down on those below them..
If Helios city was impressive, then this place looked like a dwelling for immortals..
The city only seemed to fuel my excitement and anticipation..
If something within the human continent already looked this otherworldly, then just what the hell would The central continent, the place housing the concentrated power of the world, where experts were as common as clouds and the impossible seemed like a regular occurrence be like?
Better still, what would Aeternum, the true marvel of the central continent look like..
I couldn’t wait to find out, but first, I had to get my affairs done within this city..
"Solaris Prime, here I come"....
