Chapter 73: Chapter 81: Sister-in-Law

So Peter Gingery and Jane Sampson had been collaborating since they were children, going to school together. Whenever they had eggs at home, they would eat them on the road, one devouring both egg yolks and the other both egg whites, with neither wasted, jointly harvesting a little sense of happiness.

After hearing this, Mark was literally horrified, and as he stood there, he couldn’t help but comment, "You two really are a match made in heaven."

Mark had intended to compliment Peter on his good relationship with his girlfriend, but his comment nearly choked Peter to death.

"Don’t talk nonsense!" To say Peter was frightened was an understatement; his face went white as he frantically waved his hands and hurriedly explained, "That’s my sister-in-law! My sister-in-law! No, our sister-in-law!"

After saying that, Peter sneakily glanced at James Black and, sure enough, the latter’s gaze was as lethal as if it could kill. Peter, holding his food box, didn’t say another word and took off running.

"Sister-in-law? His sister-in-law? Or our sister-in-law? What’s all this mess?" Mark scratched his head and then looked over at James Black. Catching his commander’s dark and stormy expression, Mark forgot what he was about to say.

After leaving the team base, Jane drove straight to the company dormitory. The training class was continuous even on weekends, so there was no one else around at that time. Once she arrived at the dormitory, Jane sent a text message to Rock Bell and then sat there with her mobile phone, muttering that she must have had bad luck today, having run into that guy James Black right as she left.

After work, Rock Bell went straight downstairs of Jane’s dormitory building to pick her up and take her to the high-speed train station. Halfway to the station, Rock Bell brought up the topic of Jane’s audition set for tomorrow.

"This is the script, make sure you read it carefully tonight. There are two roles you’re going for in the audition. As long as you’re not too terrible, we should be able to secure one of them for you," Rock Bell said. "One of them is relatively simple, with about three minutes of screen time throughout the whole drama and no more than ten lines. Its main function is to look pretty, not much of a challenge."

Upon seeing Jane light up with excitement, Rock Bell punched her lightly on the head, "Don’t be so satisfied with so little. I want you to land the other role. That one has much more screen time than the one I just mentioned, and a lot more lines as well. Although it’s also a minor role, it has performing challenges. I’ve heard good things about you from the training teachers, so I worked hard to get you this audition opportunity."

"Sister Tin, what if I don’t get either role?" Jane, who often scrolled through twitter, naturally knew about the script already.

It was for a large-scale ancient costume mythological drama adapted from a novel. The novel already came with immense popularity and was being adapted for the screen by the author. With a renowned director at the helm, the drama had already caused a huge buzz on twitter before filming even started.

"Don’t worry, you won’t be making a wasted trip," Rock Bell was brimming with confidence. "At the very least, the three-minute role isn’t going anywhere."

Rock Bell patted Jane’s head with assurance, confidently stating, "Sometimes it’s about connections in this circle. If I can’t secure the female lead or the supporting roles for you, these minor roles won’t be an issue. You’re always on twitter; do you know who’s directing this drama?"

"Daniel Taylor," Jane of course knew the director. At such a young age but with many years in the industry, he had remarkable achievements. Almost every show he touched turned into a huge hit, and Daniel had launched the careers of numerous new actresses and fresh-faced young actors.
