CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 47 - 55: The Young Man
Old Master Black referred to his granddaughters-in-law, one being James Black’s cousin, and the other being the granddaughter-in-law Jane Sampson.
But in fact, in Jane’s eyes, the granddaughter from the Old Young Family, who was rather homely, was not ugly at all. On the contrary, she was a girl with a particularly delicate appearance. It was just unknown why she had always been thin since her childhood and remained so now, which always prompted Old Master Black to criticize her looks.
Jane heard from her auntie that in the past, when Old Young jokingly said he wanted to marry his granddaughter into the Black Family to become Old Master Black’s granddaughter-in-law or granddaughter-in-law from outside the family, Old Master Black almost fell out with his good friend Old Young. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
However, Jane knew that Old Master Black had always been secretly jealous of Old Young for having a granddaughter, as all of Old Master Black’s grandsons were boys.
Seeing Jane laugh, Old Master Black’s gaze immediately swept over to her. "Don’t you laugh either; if you keep losing weight, you’ll look even more awkward than her. Speaking of which, you seem to have lost a lot of weight since the last time I saw you?"
In Old Master Black’s eyes, being thin meant looking awkward; after all, the elderly man preferred chubby children.
Jane, thus called out by Old Sir, found even the excuse of dieting to be weak. She just stood there, smiling without speaking. These days, she got up early every morning for her workout, then had her meals, and after going through a day’s training, she was exhausted like a dog every single day. It would’ve been strange if Jane hadn’t lost weight.
"Young people, don’t turn yourselves into skeletons. Being thin was a sign of poverty in our time; only being fat represented having a good life," Old Master Black lectured Jane for a while, and just then, his grandchildren Brooke and Harper Black came back home, followed by Oliver Black and his family of three.
Oliver Black was Harper’s only son and had been married for many years. His wife grew up with him in the great courtyard, and now she teaches at a high school. The couple married early, and their son was already nearly five years old.
The handsome little boy peered in from behind his mom as soon as he entered the door, then shrank back behind her upon seeing Old Master Black. He only darted out quickly when he heard Jane calling him, and ran towards her.
"Auntie! I missed you so much!" The little boy, not very tall, hugged Jane’s thigh and warmed Jane’s heart with a single sentence.
"Now that everyone’s here, let’s eat," Old Master Black counted everyone and then muttered to himself. "It’s just that Peter and his father are missing."
Peter was still with the Solar Planet Guardian Team, and Father Gingery was inconveniently on a business trip out of the region these past few days.
The family gathering was called together because James had come home with Jane on the spur of the moment, so naturally, Father Gingery from out of town couldn’t make it back in time.
According to the usual proceedings of family gatherings, Jane was supposed to sit with James, but because of the supermarket incident just now, she was still angry with James. Thinking about how her mobile phone was still with him, Jane coaxed the handsome little boy into sitting with her.
Jane didn’t hide her annoyance with James as she cajoled the little boy, which led Elder Black to cast an unexpected glance at James, but he also wasn’t tactless enough to ask questions at this time. Throughout the family meal, James, with his reticent nature, spoke only a few words, but everyone was already accustomed to that.
On the other hand, Jane answered a few questions and seemed more lively than before, which surprised Oliver and his wife.
