CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 44 - 52: No Purchase Allowed
"Don’t buy it!" Jane Sampson snapped in anger and shame, keeping her voice low as she yelled at James Black.
James Black chuckled, reached into the shopping cart, and lifted out Jane’s candy and potato chips separately, nodding his head, "Fine, then don’t buy these two items either."
Jane’s face turned green as she watched her snacks, which she had hidden so meticulously, effortlessly exposed by James.
So, this guy had seen her picking up snacks from the start, he was just here to mock her! 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Jane, grinding her teeth in anger, shouted back at James, "If I’m not buying, then I’m not buying!" She stomped past him and made her way around the other side of the cashier’s counter, leaving James behind as she strutted out of the supermarket in a huff.
James hadn’t expected Jane’s temper to flare up like that, leaving him in a jam with the shopping cart, unable to move forward or retreat, as he watched Jane’s ponytail disappear from his line of sight.
"Are we done yet?" James looked at the people ahead of him, who seemed to be idly wasting time, and asked impatiently, "How much longer?"
His voice was low and hard, matching his cool demeanor. The customer in front of him silently stepped aside and said, "Mister, if you’re in a hurry, why don’t you go ahead? I can’t find my card and haven’t found it yet."
James thanked him and naturally turned around to switch the two boxes Jane had tampered with back to the ones he had originally picked, then took them to the cashier’s counter along with the other stuff.
The young couple behind him muttered, "His girlfriend left and he doesn’t chase after her. I really doubt he’ll have any use for what he’s buying."
"Maybe he’s keeping it for the next one?" the boy whispered, speculating.
James, having better hearing than ordinary people and the young couple right behind him, was aware of their hushed conversation.
"Mister, will you be paying with card or cash?" the cashier’s sweet voice asked.
James took out his wallet from his pocket, pulled out a bank card, a black card with no spending limit, and handed it over. Ignoring the young couple admiring the sleek card behind him, he completed the payment and put his wallet away.
After placing the shopping bags into the shopping cart, James suddenly turned and addressed the couple behind him in a very serious and earnest tone, "The lady from before is my wife, so even if I carry a box back, I’ll have use for it. There’s no need for your concern."
After speaking, James walked away with the shopping cart, leaving the chatty couple standing awkwardly for a few seconds, unable to regain their composure.
Because the payment had taken some time, James sped up after leaving the cashier’s counter, searching for Jane at the supermarket exit.
He wasn’t sure whether Jane, in this hot weather, would go out and take a taxi home on her own or if she would wait for him outside.
Fortunately, after looking for a while, he found Jane in a dessert shop, with her back turned to the doorway, bending over as if she were choosing a cake from the display.
James walked in, holding his items, and quietly stood behind Jane.
