Chapter 436: Chapter 444: Several Times

Jane Sampson tossed her phone onto the bed and said, "I’m going to spray this first; it’s unbearable."

After she had spoken, Jane Sampson had already picked up the spray and started frantically spraying her legs.

Just as James Black had mentioned, the spray was very effective. After spraying it, her legs felt cool and icy, and soon the itchiness subsided.

Only then did Jane Sampson feel rejuvenated, like she had come back to life, and she had the energy to pick up the cellphone she threw aside and continue her conversation with James Black.

"How are you so clever, actually bringing this for me!" Jane Sampson couldn’t help but praise James Black.

Her luggage was mostly packed by James Black, so she didn’t even know he had prepared this for her.

"In the countryside of the southland, especially during summer, the mosquitos are fierce. Mosquito repellent is one of the essential items," James Black thought Jane Sampson knew, so after he packed it for her, he didn’t specifically remind her to use it immediately when she arrived in the village.

It turned out that the silly daughter-in-law who took the mosquito repellent spray still ended up looking like she was about to collapse from mosquito bites upon arriving in the village.

"You don’t know how to use the old-fashioned mosquito coil? Doesn’t Elizabeth King know either?" James Black saw the remnants of mosquito coils scattered on the ground through the lens and casually asked.

Jane Sampson not knowing how to use it was understandable because, after all, she was still the Sampton Family’s miss, who naturally wouldn’t be bothered with such tasks. The Sampton Family had a nanny to handle these matters.

Later, electric mosquito repellent tablets and liquid entered the scene, replacing the old-fashioned coils in everyday life. Having become independent, Jane Sampson naturally encountered such coils even less.

James Black remembered that the mosquito repellent used in the house was the electric mosquito repellent liquid, and it was scent-free because Jane Sampson couldn’t stand the scents that were too strong.

"She didn’t come back with me; she went to have fun." Jane Sampson opened her mouth, wanting to say more, but after hesitating for a while, she ultimately chose to stay quiet.

"Hmm," James Black noticed that Jane Sampson’s eyebrows in the phone twisted as if she had something on her mind and appeared as though she hadn’t finished speaking, but then she quieted down.

He just knew that Jane Sampson was hiding something from him again. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Every time this happened, if Jane Sampson truly wanted to keep something secret, there was nothing James Black could guess.

"Don’t light those mosquito coils anymore, you can’t even smell them with the strong scent, and you’re living in an old house. I’m also worried that you might accidentally set the house on fire using them," James Black said. "I’ll have someone send you some mosquito repellent liquid in a while."

"Have someone?" Jane Sampson exclaimed, immediately catching the main point. "You know people in this village?"

"Surprised?" James Black let out a light chuckle. "I’ve been to this village."

After pausing, he added, "Several times."

"How come I don’t know about it?" Jane Sampson asked, taking it for granted.

James Black raised his eyebrows, really not wanting to insult the seriously surprised woman on the other side of the phone.

With her attitude of almost wishing he wouldn’t come home once throughout the year, how could she know much about his affairs?

It’s not just visiting a small village— even if one day he took a rocket to space, as long as he didn’t tell her, she most likely wouldn’t know he had been around the space.

He used to think Jane Sampson’s carefree nature was a relief. Now, James Black strangely felt suffocated.

A wife who was indifferent to everything about him— why did he previously think that was so comforting? Why did he even feel happy, lucky to have married such an obedient and well-behaved wife?
