Chapter 430: Chapter 438: Let’s Go Together

"Yes, I can see them, those two earthen forts are also one of our filming locations this time. These two earth fort towers are local intangible cultural heritage. Director Wilson put in quite an effort and worked hard with the local relevant departments to get permission to film here, and finally, it all paid off," the driver said.

The driver was part of the logistics team and had arrived in the village several days earlier than Jane Sampson and the others to make arrangements, so he knew more about the place.

Many things can’t be found by searching on the internet. Therefore, to truly experience the rich red cultural atmosphere of several decades ago, one must visit this authentic village in person.

"By the way, Director Wilson mentioned that everyone should be a bit more cautious when moving around the village these few days. He heard from the Village Chief that a very important leader will be inspecting the work in the village. He cautioned us not to accidentally offend the leaders and end up with consequences that prevent us from continuing the filming," the driver added.

"Don’t worry, I’m well-behaved; I won’t wander off. I’m just curious about that earth fort and want to take an early look," Jane chuckled.

"Well, that’s feasible. It’s not far from where the director arranged for the actors to stay. It’s about a 20-minute walk," the driver replied with a smile. "I’ve been there, and both earth forts are quite charming and well-preserved. The government wanted to fund renovations, but the villagers disagreed. They said that once renovated, the forts wouldn’t be the same anymore."

After hearing the driver say this, Jane was determined to go and take a look. She turned to Elizabeth King and suggested, "Shall we check it out early tomorrow morning?"

"Sister Jane, if you can get up very, very early tomorrow morning..." Elizabeth shrugged. "Then you go ahead. Don’t call me."

Jane had thought Elizabeth would say if she could make it, Elizabeth would be willing to keep her company. She hadn’t expected this twist. Shirley Young looked at Elizabeth with some surprise, then couldn’t help but curl the corner of her mouth into a smile, saying, "If you can get up tomorrow morning, let’s go together. I’m a bit curious too."

"Sure!" Now that Jane had someone to accompany her, she didn’t have to worry about looking strange going alone early in the morning.

The start-up ceremony tomorrow morning was scheduled for 8:30. So, if one got up early enough, there would be plenty of time to witness the ancient castle in the early morning of the mountain village.

There were no hotels in the village, but there were home-stays because it was somewhat troublesome to get to the town from the village, so everyone from the film crew stayed in the village.

The home-stays were nearly all booked by the film crew, and when those weren’t enough, they negotiated with the Village Chief to rent several additional courtyards from the local households.

In such a situation where accommodation varied, naturally, the better accommodations were given priority to actors like Shirley Young. Jane Sampson, fortunate as a newcomer who landed the third female role, also stayed in a home-stay along with Elizabeth King.

However, they were no match for actors like Shirley Young—Jane and Elizabeth’s home-stay wasn’t in the same place as theirs.

If you were to classify them like hotels outdoors, Shirley and the other actors were staying in a five-star home-stay, while Jane and the other third-tier actors stayed in a three-star business hotel equivalent.

The conditions of the home stays certainly couldn’t compare with grand hotels outside. There weren’t many home-stays in the village, just a few large farm courtyards that had been cleaned up to serve as temporary resting spots for tourists visiting the area.
