Chapter 412: Chapter 420: It’s Not a Big Deal

"Tsk." James Black only paused for a few seconds before he couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle, seeing that Jane Sampson truly didn’t understand, he didn’t bother to explain further, curling the corners of his mouth, he said nothing more.

When Jane saw that James Black was ignoring her, she stood there staring at him intently for several minutes before snorting and turning away.

However, Jane didn’t go anywhere. She just went to her room to get the script and then returned to the living room, script in hand.

James Black had gotten up at some point, and when Jane came out, the book in his hand had been replaced with another, a thicker guardian team’s affairs magazine. His study was never short of such magazines.

"Come sit over here." Hearing Jane’s footsteps, James Black glanced up at her and, seeing her sitting at the end of the sofa, waved her over with his hand and patted the seat by his side, signaling for Jane to sit there.

"What for?" Jane muttered but obediently moved over. After she settled next to him, she unexpectedly found another comfortable position.

She kicked off her slippers, crossed her legs, and sat sideways on the sofa, her entire back leaning directly onto James Black’s shoulder.

This posture was far more comfortable for Jane than just leaning against the sofa.

James raised his eyebrows slightly, turned his head, and saw that Jane had already started reading the script quite contentedly. After thinking for a few seconds, he ultimately did not push the boneless figure away.

Before, the guardian team’s affairs magazine that he used to find so engrossing, James suddenly realized, didn’t seem to hold the same appeal as it had in the past.

Most of his attention was, in fact, attracted by the person leaning against him.

Jane’s voice was very low, but he could still hear her reciting lines. A soft voice, yet she looked very serious.

Having memorized sheet music from a young age, her memory was not bad. James observed Jane for less than three minutes and saw her memorize a page of lines. When she turned the pages of the script in her hand, that’s when James realized he’d been paying attention to her all along.

James thought that perhaps he was indeed better off reading alone in his study, that way, he wouldn’t get distracted by other people or things.

But then, looking down at the magazine in his hand, James thought the book wasn’t that important after all, and being distracted wasn’t such a big deal.

Jane, unaware of the thoughts running through James’s mind, was already engrossed in her work, rehearsing her lines until she realized that her back ached from staying in the same position for too long.

She quietly straightened up her body and turned to look at the man next to her, internally clicking her tongue in amazement. James Black was so absorbed when reading that he didn’t need to change positions for such a long time, and even with her sizable presence, she hadn’t affected him at all. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"James Black." Jane tentatively called out to him.

Only then did James glance at her and asked, "What’s up?"

Jane giggled and shook her head, "Nothing much."

After speaking, Jane simply lay down, her head resting directly on James’s lap, straightened her legs that had been curled for a long time, and even kicked a bit. Knowing that James had been watching her all along, Jane explained, "My legs are numb, and my back’s truly sore, lend me your lap for a bit."

And the magazine that James Black had been reading was now, conspicuously, under her head.
