CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 315 - 323: I’ve Grown Old
James Black sat alone in his room for a while, his thoughts a mystery, but when he descended the stairs, Jane Sampson was frolicking with the Great General in the courtyard.
The same person who had earlier stuffed themselves and complained of a stomachache after a short run was now seemingly fit enough to play Frisbee with the Great General.
James Black stood in front of the patio window, watching them without any intention of joining in. Old Master Black appeared from somewhere in the courtyard and came to stand by his side.
"James Black," Old Master Black called out to the person by his side who had been silent all this while.
"Grandfather," James Black responded.
"Promise me that you and Jane’s child will definitely be a daughter like Jane, and not a son like you," Old Master Black said.
James Black’s mouth twitched slightly.
"I’m getting old, and I like lively little lasses like Jane. The Black Family, starting from your generation, has only boys, and I’ve had enough of that," Old Master Black said earnestly, "What I’m actually most worried about is if you and Jane have a son like you. As an old man, I probably won’t see him grow up and get married."
Having said so, Old Master Black sighed with concern, "Without me as the old Sir fixing a wife for him early on, I’m afraid your son might end up a bachelor for life."
Just then, Brooke Black and her husband passed by, exchanged a glance, and went out to the courtyard, stifling their laughter.
"Dad just worries too much. Wasn’t James Black shaped into what he is today by dad’s very own hands? When dad was young, he was just like James Black. Before dad retired, every chance he got, he would say how proud he was to have raised a son just like him," Brooke Black laughed until her stomach hurt, "but a few years after dad’s retirement, he started to tire of James Black’s stoic nature."
"With Jane as their mother, whether their child is a boy or a girl, they probably won’t end up like James Black the father," Uncle Black’s analysis was somewhat more rational, "James Black is a defender, often with the guard team. After the child is born, Jane will likely spend more time with them. Typically, children resemble those they spend the most time with in temperament and behavior."
After finishing, Uncle Black laughed, "Our son Peter Gingery is just like you."
Brooke Black laughed with a touch of pride, "I think my greatest honor is to not have turned Peter Gingery into another James Black right under dad’s nose."
Out in the courtyard, Jane Sampson was energetically playing with the Great General, blissfully unaware of the four sets of eyes watching her and the Great General from in front of the patio window and the doorway.
Past 8 o’clock, James Black still went to get the key and called out to Jane Sampson to come home from the courtyard.
She squatted there, hugging the Great General, staring at James Black without saying a word, her eyes clearly betraying her reluctance to return home.
The Great General turned its head and licked Jane Sampson’s face, then nuzzled her with its head, likely puzzled as to why she suddenly appeared unhappy. It barked a few times and then suddenly ran off.
"Let’s go," James Black stepped forward and patted Jane Sampson’s head.
Jane Sampson must have been very indignant as she barked at James Black and then attempted to run away.
James Black had anticipated this move from Jane Sampson. Although her bark startled him for a second, he quickly grabbed her before she could get away.
"Come home, tomorrow I’ll take you shopping and then to watch a movie," James Black said.
Shopping?
Watching a movie?
Jane Sampson suddenly stopped her determined struggle, pulled back her feet, and then slowly turned her head to look at James Black, "Really?"
