CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 298 - 306: One O’clock Jelly
"The one from yesterday," Jane Sampson replied without hesitation, "Although the color today is nice too, bright red just seems too flashy for everyday wear."
James Black wasn’t really considering which color Jane mentioned was better looking; he just heaved a sigh of relief in his heart after receiving Jane’s unequivocal preference for yesterday’s color.
He thought to himself, that’s good.
As they talked, they arrived at the vegetable section. Jane watched James picking out vegetables as if he knew what he was doing and really wanted to ask him, Chief Black, are you truly adept at such down-to-earth tasks?
The bunch of vegetables in your hand, anyone with common sense could tell were leftovers from yesterday that nobody wanted.
But seeing James so earnestly selecting them, Jane held back from pointing it out to him, or rather, her mind wasn’t really on it at all.
"James, I’ll go over there to buy some other stuff." Jane suddenly spoke up and started walking towards that direction as she spoke.
However, James’s reaction was quicker than hers, and he quickly grabbed her hand.
"Other stuff or snacks?" James directly called out Jane’s bluff, "Using the same trick again, don’t you think it’s getting old?"
Jane Sampson was left speechless by James’s response.
Tired of it, yes, but what else could she do?
How else was she supposed to make excuses?
What could she do? She was also desperate.
If only she knew, she should have resisted with her life when he dragged her out to buy groceries, stubbornly refusing to comply.
"One pack of sunflower seeds." Jane held up a finger and began to negotiate with James, her slender, fair fingertip swaying in front of his eyes.
James only thought for two seconds before he agreed.
"Add one pack of Alps lollipops," Jane raised another finger, following up with, "and a pack of marshmallows."
"Hmm," James’s eyes lifted, glancing at Jane who was pinching her eyebrows, and he agreed.
"A bit of nuts?" Jane added yet another finger along with another item, "And some jelly?"
"Jane Sampson, enough is enough," James was nearly amused by Jane’s one, two, three additions of items.
"No more, no more, that’s it, I’ll be right back! Absolutely won’t take more!" Jane flashed a mischievous smile at James, her voice oozing charm, "James, you’re so nice."
Without waiting for James’s reply, she scampered off towards the snack zone as if afraid of being dragged back by him if she ran late.
James watched Jane disappear into the snack zone in a flash, her words still echoing in his ears, no more.
Truth be told, James didn’t quite trust Jane.
Jane entering the snack zone was like a child entering a little heaven, gazing at the rows of potato chips and biscuits filled her heart with yearning, but she held back from extending her guilty left hand.
If she did reach out, she could probably kiss goodbye even the few items she had gained permission to buy.
Ah!
So annoying!
If only James weren’t on vacation, how nice that would be!
Tomorrow she could come to the supermarket by herself, buy whatever she wanted.
A whole week in the house, playing games, watching shows, snacking — isn’t that the life?
Why does she have to have daddy Black watching her 24 hours a day?
Kane Forest happened to pass by the snack zone when he inadvertently heard a sigh that made him notice someone squatting in front of the potato chips shelf. He watched her gaze longingly at the chips several times, then reluctantly turned to leave and only after picking up a pack of Alps lollipops and marshmallows from another shelf did she stand up.
