Chapter 270: Chapter 278: Envious of Your Slimness

Ever since she hung up on him and blocked him, Jane Sampson and James Black had not been in contact for a whole month.

And tonight, being Friday, she was supposed to go home tomorrow, by all accounts.

But even though it was already in the early morning, James Black hadn’t called her, nor had he sent her a single text message.

Jane Sampson first logged into the app and bought a flight ticket to Capital Province for tomorrow. After she received a message that her ticket purchase was successful, she thought about calling James Black to say something, as if to be the one to give in first.

But her fingertips had just grazed James Black’s phone number before she decided against it.

Looking at her current pitiful appearance with her arm in a sling, if he were to see her like this when he got home tomorrow, she would most likely be severely criticized.

Instead of attending the wrap-up party for her first TV series, Jane Sampson spent the night alone in her hotel room, tossing and turning with difficulty. While her injury did not involve any broken bones, a sprained wrist was indeed very painful.

Jane Sampson had not slept well all night, half dreaming and half awake, and before she knew it, it was daybreak.

Quincy Forest knocked on Jane Sampson’s door early in the morning, and Jane Sampson, dressed in pajamas, answered it. Quincy came in, holding a hot breakfast with a smile, "I knew you’d be too lazy to go downstairs for breakfast like me, so I had my brother bring breakfast from a nearby hotel. Oh, and I booked the same flight back to Capital Province for us. We’ll head to the airport with my cousin in a while."

"Your cousin is also going back?" Jane Sampson nodded as she took the breakfast from Quincy Forest’s hand—a tantalizing soy milk and buns. She wondered where Kane Forest had found this Westernized breakfast in the wine market.

"Yeah, he was originally planning to stay here for just one week. But due to some unexpected issues with a project, he ended up staying for a month. He finished all his work yesterday and, knowing that I was returning to Capital Province, he decided to go back with us. By the way, King went downstairs for breakfast early and then back to the town. Knowing that both you and I were resting, he told my brother when he saw him at the self-service restaurant downstairs," Quincy explained. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Because one hand was out of commission, Jane Sampson was slow to get dressed—even her bra had to be fastened by Quincy Forest. Quincy teased Jane for a while about her flat chest.

"I used to envy your slim figure, but after seeing your chest, not so much," Quincy Forest said with brutal frankness, flaunting her own full chest as she spoke, "I’ve read in stories that women experience a second development after they get married and have a husband. How come you’re still so flat?"

"..." The corners of Jane Sampson’s mouth twitched.

What else could be the reason?

Wasn’t it because her marriage was no different from being single?

All those stories about second developments were just lies!

"It’s Saturday today. After you get off the plane, are you having your husband pick you up? Have you told him about your injury?" Quincy Forest looked worriedly at Jane Sampson’s hand. "If there’s no one at home, it’d be inconvenient for you by yourself, wouldn’t it?"

Things like pouring tea and eating, dressing and eating meals would all be very inconvenient.

Last night for dinner, Jane Sampson ate corn and beef porridge, using a soup scoop. But surely she couldn’t expect to continue having porridge for all three meals a day once she got home?

Quincy Forest wondered if, with a sprained right hand, Jane could manage to pick up vegetables with chopsticks in her left hand.

"I haven’t told him, and don’t you or your brother say anything," Jane Sampson shook her head. "It’s fine. Once I get home, naturally, there will be someone to take care of me."

Jane Sampson was thinking that if she really couldn’t manage alone, she might see if she could stay with Nina Rice for a couple of days. If Nina was also unavailable, then she would have to find a temporary nanny.
