CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 210 - 218: Wake Up
"Where did that little lass Jane go? When did she become so bold? How can her body handle going to such places?" Harper Black had watched Jane Sampson grow up, and knew that her health had always been fragile since childhood. The moment he heard that Jane had traveled to the highland region, he too began to worry.
Some people who aren’t in the best physical condition might not react at all when they go to high altitude areas, but those with poor health, once they suffer from acute high altitude disease, suffer far more than healthy individuals.
"I’ll make arrangements for you immediately, then have someone contact you." Being family, Harper didn’t hesitate to arrange things, and as soon as he hung up the phone, he began to organize a helicopter rescue for James Black.
James Black’s request was for as soon as possible, the faster, the better, preferably immediately, so for the sake of a last-minute helicopter flight, Harper made several calls to coordinate and schedule.
In less than thirty minutes, James Black was on board the helicopter arranged by Harper Black, and from soon after takeoff until the aircraft smoothly soared through the night sky, James held his mobile phone tightly.
At 4:30 in the morning, the helicopter arrived near the hotel where Jane Sampson was staying. James descended from the aircraft and rushed straight to Jane’s hotel, exhibiting his ID card and marriage certificate with Jane, and retrieved a spare room card for Jane’s room from the reception. He then raced upstairs to the second floor, to Jane’s room.
Upon opening the door, James immediately switched on the electric light inside the room. It was small; Jane’s suitcase was in the corner, and on the bed, beneath the quilt, was a small bulging bag—unquestionably Jane.
"Jane Sampson?" Stepping forward, James reached out to lift the quilt that was tightly pressing down on Jane’s body, first softly calling her name. Seeing no response, he then called out her name a bit louder.
"Jane Sampson, wake up." James gently touched Jane’s face with his hand. Her entire face was extremely red, and felt very hot, yet her lips were an unhealthy pale, almost devoid of color.
She wasn’t just asleep and unresponsive; she was somewhat delirious.
James immediately picked her up from the bed, locked the room door with his foot, and ran downstairs.
James didn’t dare think about what could have happened if he had arrived any later—would Jane have remained unconscious in her room, unnoticed by anyone?
After informing the reception, James carried Jane onto the helicopter, "To the wine market city hospital."
"Chief Black, is your sister-in-law unconscious?" The driver also seemed worried, knowing full well there had been cases where tourists’ severe acute high altitude disease wasn’t promptly treated, leading to tragic outcomes.
As the helicopter took off again, James held the person in his arms, his heart trembling with fear. At this moment, James suddenly understood what it felt like to be heartbroken.
Looking at Jane lying breathlessly in his arms with her eyes closed, James wished instead that Jane would continue to be mad at him.
"Jane." James kept softly calling her name, hoping Jane might still be able to hear his voice. Thankfully, after calling her name several times, Jane’s eyelids suddenly twitched, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Jane couldn’t remember when it felt as though she was in space, weightless, with the whole world spinning uncontrollably around her, refusing to stop.
It was only after what seemed like a long, long time that someone kept calling her name by her ear, over and over again, tirelessly.
