CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1889 - 1897: She Really Said That
Jane Sampson isn’t foolish; all those seemingly intimate words from Jillian Carter throughout the evening were actually aimed at pricking her.
Jane Sampson simply couldn’t be bothered to argue with Jillian Carter in front of James Carter.
Following that, Jane Sampson barely interacted with Jillian Carter, it was mostly Jillian talking with James Carter, ceaselessly, and it was always about her company matters.
If it weren’t for James Carter occasionally pouring Jane a cup of boiling water, picking some food for her, or bringing her into the conversation, it would have been as if Jane Sampson didn’t exist at all at that dinner table.
After the meal, Jane Sampson and James Carter directly returned to the hotel.
It was at this point that Jane Sampson discovered that James Black had sent her a WhatsApp message while she was eating, telling her that he had left the guard team.
Jane Sampson tried calling James Black, and unsurprisingly, his phone was off.
In another room in the hotel, after returning, James Carter called Father Carter, mentioning what Jillian Carter had brought up at the dinner table tonight.
"Jillian really said that?" Father Carter smiled comfortably after hearing it all, "Seems like she’s truly matured, my wife and I can be at ease now."
Listening to James Carter talk about Jillian’s company plans over the phone, Father Carter went downstairs to find his wife after hanging up.
Coincidentally, Grandpa Carter and Grandma Carter had just come in from outside.
"Dad and Mom, why are you here at this time?" Father Carter was extremely surprised, "Why didn’t you let us know you were coming back, we could have arranged someone to pick you up at the airport."
"No need, it’s not like we’re too old to walk, just grabbed a taxi from the airport and returned." Grandma Carter waved her hand dismissively.
The nanny took over their luggage and placed it in their bedroom.
Old Sir Carter helped his wife to sit on the sofa, and Mother Carter poured them a cup of water. Seeing her husband standing next to them, Mother Carter then asked, "Didn’t James just call you? Didn’t he mention how Jillian and Jane were getting along during dinner tonight?"
"James said there were smiles and laughter, Jillian has matured a lot, and Jane is always so gentle, they all seemed quite happy with tonight’s meal." Father Carter then shared about Jillian wanting to start a company and mentioned what James had said about her asking the family for startup funding.
"Jillian is right too, if she wants to start a business, she can’t just rely entirely on Joseph Shaw for startup funds." Mother Carter nodded, agreeing.
Grandma Carter sat there, having just finished a drink of water, and upon hearing this, her eyebrows furrowed directly.
"James told you this? Jillian mentioned her entrepreneurship and seeking startup funds from the family right in front of Jane Sampson at the dinner table tonight?" Grandma Carter asked.
"Yes." Father Carter looked at Grandma Carter, puzzled, "Mom, why? Is there a problem?"
Father Carter noticed something was off about his mother’s expression.
"Is there a problem? Do you even know what the problem is?" Grandma Carter put the teacup down heavily on the table, "You parents, have your eyes been so fooled by Jillian that you can’t see the issues?"
Old Sir Carter followed up with a grunt, indicating he was also displeased.
"Dad?" Mother Carter’s heart sank, "Dad, Mom, what do you mean?"
"Fools!" Grandma Carter smacked the back of her daughter-in-law’s hand, sighing repeatedly.
