CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1515 - 1523: Give It a Try
Great, Bright Sampton thought, his sister had left this suffocating house; she had another home.
After hanging up the phone, James Black instructed a couple of things to someone and then turned and left. After picking up the car key, James thought for a moment and then called a driver over; instead, he sat directly in the car backseat.
After the car left the guard team, James Black called Jane Sampson.
This call went unanswered for half an hour, and eventually, the mobile phone indicated it was turned off.
James Black’s heart gradually tightened, and his eyebrows furrowed deeper and deeper.
"Boss, what’s wrong?" The young team member driving noticed the change in James Black’s expression and asked with concern, "Are you having trouble reaching our sister-in-law by phone?"
This wasn’t hard to guess since the place James Black headed to after leaving the guard team was home.
The young team member speculated, "Could it be that sister-in-law is in a noisy place outside and didn’t hear? Why don’t you wait a bit and try calling again?"
James Black responded with an ’hmm’, thinking to himself that, by the time she left the Sampton Family, she should not have yet reached home, likely driving and not noticing her phone ringing.
But James Black was more worried that driving in the emotional state she was in when leaving the Sampton Family might cause problems.
Fifteen minutes later, the car reached a traffic light intersection. The young team member checked the road conditions and then turned on the car’s radio to listen to the current city district traffic status. Unfortunately, they caught the radio host reporting a car accident on Bright Street.
They said a female driver had mistaken the accelerator for the brake and rear-ended several cars. The accident resulted in several casualties, and the car’s airbags deployed, leaving the female driver unconscious and sent to the hospital.
Coincidentally, Bright Street was the necessary route Jane Sampson took from the Sampton Family to go home.
Not only was James Black shocked, but even the young team member’s heart sank, wondering, could it be that unlucky that our sister-in-law is the female driver?
James Black’s forehead wrinkled into a cross as he took out his mobile phone again, this time dialing the home landline.
Listening to the incessant beeping in the phone, James Black adjusted his posture and was about to hang up when the call finally connected, and a muffled voice suddenly came through, answering with a ’hello’.
"Hello, who are you?" The voice that spoke was a bit hoarse, clearly from having cried.
Nowadays, everyone has a mobile phone, so landlines have almost become furniture in the house, and basically, no one uses them. Hence, when Jane Sampson heard the home landline ringing, she was so distracted that she assumed it was an advertisement call from the broadband company and didn’t want to answer.
But hearing the phone ring for a long time without stopping, she finally got up from the sofa and answered the call.
And this one sentence gave James Black almost a sigh of relief.
She was okay, that was good.
The driver who mistook the accelerator for the brake wasn’t her.
"It’s me." James Black calmed his emotions and gently asked, "I called your mobile, at first there was no answer, and then it was turned off. Did you just get home?"
"James?" Jane Sampson was slightly surprised. Hearing James Black say this, she realized she hadn’t touched her mobile phone since she got home.
"I’ve been home for a few minutes. I didn’t charge my mobile phone when I went out, so it might have run out of power and shut down automatically. I just got home and haven’t had a chance to look at my phone." Jane Sampson said, "Wait for me a moment; I’ll get my phone from my purse."
