Chapter 1500: Chapter 1508: Naive

With the studio’s maneuvering behind the scenes, the popularity of Jane Sampson being appointed as the Anti-Drug Publicity Ambassador on Twitter in the past few days ranked just below the scandal involving Julie Sampton as the mistress.

It’s rather strange—despite Julie Sampton and David Chip’s affair with Nina Lee happening quite a while ago, this topic has stubbornly remained in the top three of the trending topic list.

Julie Sampton’s Twitter followers nowadays aren’t even half of what she had back then. The remaining followers are likely bots she bought back then, or people who still follow her just to curse her under her latest posts.

Julie Sampton recently hasn’t dared to post on Twitter. Every time she posts, she gets slammed. No matter the content, it’s met with hostility. She’s already disabled the comment function entirely, and she doesn’t even dare to open her private messages.

When news of Old Sir Sampton’s passing broke, coupled with a hospital nurse exposing on Twitter that Julie Sampton’s previous tweet claiming to visit her grandpa was a lie, it stirred up more drama. The nurse on duty testified that Julie had never been seen at the hospital. So, a segment of the internet believed it and berated Julie for being cold and pretentious, accusing her of even faking visiting her sick grandfather.

Meanwhile, another segment, claiming to be rational, analyzed how unlikely such behavior would be, reasoning that a granddaughter wouldn’t normally do such a thing.

For Julie Sampton, the only thing she could take solace in was that although rumors of her angering her grandpa to death were circulating online, they hadn’t been firmly substantiated yet, leaving her a sliver of breathing room and a chance to salvage the situation.

Jane Sampson, despite her utter disdain for Julie, found herself above the notion of dealing with her directly.

Upon learning Julie was pregnant, Jane figured she didn’t even need to lift a finger—Julie would inevitably ruin herself sooner or later.

At the dining table, James Black called out to Jane Sampson, who was lying on the sofa chatting with her friends in-game, asking her to come eat. Jane replied lazily, but dragged her feet for nearly half a minute before getting up.

After Jane sat down, James suddenly said to her, "Jillian Carter got married. Did you know about it?"

Jane, holding her chopsticks, looked stunned. If James hadn’t walked so quickly just now, she would’ve suspected he overheard her conversation with Peter Gingery.

"Oscar Wilson told me, yeah, I know." Jane nodded. "How do you know though?"

"A friend of mine received a wedding invitation from the groom’s side. They mentioned the bride is Jillian Carter. The topic came up in the group chat." James said, "Now that she’s married, she should be staying in the southland and hopefully won’t bother you anymore."

Jane rolled her eyes, casually lifting her hand to teasingly hook James’s chin. "Naive. Do you honestly think Jillian Carter magically found her destined true love in just a few days? Her marriage is just a ploy to shake off the Carter Family. She’ll inevitably show up again."

James glanced at Jane, then at the hand resting below his chin, before calmly shifting his face away. "Wherever she pops up, we’ll just send her right back there."

After saying that, James pressed Jane firmly into the chair with a serious look and said, "Eat."

Her recent antics had nearly made it hard for him to keep his composure.

"Hmm~" Jane squinted and grinned, not taking a single bite yet but already showering praise. "Delicious, delicious, so good."

James ignored Jane, sat down beside her, handed her the tableware, and then lowered his head to eat the noodles in his bowl.

Sitting next to him, Jane didn’t notice the faint upward curve at the corner of his lips when he lowered his head.
