CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 1498 - 1506: No Reply
"Just cook something with whateverโs in the refrigerator," Jane Sampson sat down on the floor, kicked off her snow boots, put on slippers, and pulled on James Blackโs pants two steps away to stand up. ๐๐โฏ๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐.๐โด๐
"Jane Sampson!" James Black growled softly and reached out to pull her up.
"Hahaha." Jane started laughing before she even got her balance, swatted Jamesโs hand away, and dashed straight into the bedroom.
At the doorway, she paused, suddenly turned back to look at James, and mischievously said, "Tomato and egg noodles, okay?"
James ignored Janeโs words and went straight to the kitchen; even in the kitchen, he could hear Janeโs laughter.
James wasnโt upset. Jane was still joking around and laughing, which meant she was getting over the shock of Grandpaโs passing.
He didnโt know what Granny Sampson had said to Jane, but today she was in a much better state than a few days ago.
However, there were indeed only eggs and tomatoes in the refrigerator.
James had just finished frying an egg when Jane, having changed into home clothes, came out of the bedroom, bouncing as she headed to the kitchen. She leaned her head next to him to peek at the eggs in the pot and criticized, "Theyโre all burnt~"
Jamesโs hand holding the spatula shook a little; he used his elbow to push Janeโs head away and then placed the plate with the eggs to the side, calmly cracking another egg into the pot.
Jane wondered to herself why she hadnโt noticed before how patient James was?
"This oneโs not burnt; itโs for you," James suddenly said to Jane.
Jane was daydreaming, and she instinctively nodded when she heard him, then snapped back to reality to see James looking at her. She grinned, stood on tiptoe, kissed James on the corner of his mouth, and then hugged his waist.
"Today, I saw Grandpa and Grandmaโs wedding photos. Grandma was so beautiful when she was young, and Grandpa was so handsome too," Jane remarked sentimentally and then asked curiously, "James, if I wasnโt good-looking, would you still have married me back then?"
"Thatโs not a valid question, so I wonโt answer," James replied while putting the chopped tomatoes on the cutting board into the pot, stirring them over low heat.
"I mean hypothetically, though?" Jane pouted, "What if I had lots of freckles, buck teeth, small eyes, a big round face, a piggy nose, bushy eyebrows, dark skin, oh, and even body odor, would you still marry me?"
"Do women all like asking hypothetical questions like this?" James felt a headache coming on, "This hypothesis is impossible. If you looked like that, your grandfather wouldnโt have arranged our engagement."
This was the reality; if Jane had really been that unattractive, Old Sir wouldโve never subjected his beloved grandson to such a match.
Old Master Black had agreed to James marrying Jane because she had been adorable since she was young, and all the seniors liked her. She had a charming appearance, and she was hardworking and excellent. Old Master Black didnโt have a granddaughter, so he was particularly fond of his old teammateโs granddaughter.
"But what if my grandfather was captivated by my talent and insisted you marry me?" Jane grew more curious as James avoided giving a direct answer.
"If your hypothesis is based on us still having a marriage contract from childhood, then I would still marry you."
This was a matter of responsibility. With such a long-standing marriage contract, it wasnโt possible not to fulfill it after so many years of commitment.
