Chapter 1476: Chapter 1484 Let him be happy for a while

Inconvenient?

Jane Sampson heard this explanation and nearly burst into tears.

Was it truly inconvenient, or was it fear of being reprimanded, fear of being blamed? Or perhaps the fear of facing others’ scrutiny and accusations?

Inconvenient—a casual claim of inconvenience—does that make it alright to disregard Grandpa’s health and safety?

Jane Sampson desperately wanted to personally ask Julie Sampson: how coldhearted does she have to be to sit calmly at home while her own grandfather’s life hangs in the balance in the surgery room?

Jane buried her face gently in James Black’s arms, afraid that if she looked any longer at Mother Sampson defending Julie, she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from shouting the words burning in her heart.

How could it be inconvenient?

Mother Sampson managed to leave the house—so why couldn’t Julie?

Everyone waited outside the surgery room for an entire morning. The longer they waited, the more anxious and terrified they became.

Finally, around 12:30, the doors to the surgery room were opened.

The doctor walked out, and Grandpa Sampson was wheeled directly into a special ward by the medical staff.

"Doctor, how is Grandpa?" Jane Sampson quickly turned towards the doctor, her voice hoarse and trembling violently as she spoke.

"Take the elderly man to rest first," the doctor said, exhaustion visible on his face. After all, he’d spent the entire morning in the surgery room—he wasn’t a robot, naturally he felt tired.

But noticing another elderly person nearby, the doctor kindly offered additional advice.

"I’ll stay here and listen. Doctor, just tell me—no matter what, I can endure it!" Granny Sampson spoke weakly.

The doctor hesitated but, finding himself unable to persuade Granny Sampson, sighed deeply and nodded before saying, "Old Master Sampson has accumulated a lot of health issues over the years. These past two years, as he’s aged, his body has deteriorated significantly. His heart hasn’t been in great condition for years. Patients like this need special care with their emotions. This time, it was truly a brush with death to pull him back from the gates of hell."

"I know, I know everything." Granny Sampson grasped the doctor’s hand tightly, her hand trembling. "Every time he comes to the hospital, it’s always me by his side."

Last time, Old Sir Sampson lost his temper at the Sampson Family home and gave Julie Sampson a slap. Shortly after that, he returned to the countryside and ended up hospitalized for several days.

"The Old Sir’s life has been temporarily saved, but I can’t guarantee when he’ll wake up." The doctor shook his head helplessly before adding as an afterthought, "If the Old Sir does wake up, don’t make him angry anymore. Whatever it is, let it slide. For now, just let him be happy..."

The doctor’s words were already phrased delicately, but in an instant, everyone understood the deeper meaning behind them.

What the doctor meant was: they needed to tolerate Old Sir Sampson, because even if he woke up, his remaining time would likely be short.

Only after seeing the family members understand his implication did the doctor finally leave.

Jane Sampson’s body suddenly trembled violently. If it hadn’t been for James Black supporting her waist from behind, she might have collapsed to the ground right then.

Granny Sampson’s hand clutched Father Sampson’s hand tightly, her grip so forceful it nearly crushed his hand. Only then did she manage to stabilize herself.

"This is all your fault for raising such a fine daughter!" Granny Sampson raised her hand and slapped Father Sampson squarely across the face. "You can procreate but can’t parent—if the child goes astray, the father is to blame! If you could’ve poured even half the effort you put into your company into raising your children, Julie Sampson wouldn’t have done something so vile that it angered your father into ending up bedridden!"
