James Black didn’t expect Jane to come back after walking away. After taking that hit from Jane, he raised his eyebrows, his voice low as he responded, "Hmm."

Then, his gaze lingered meaningfully on Jane’s hand for a few seconds before raising his eyebrows again and asking, "Need help later?"

"Yes." Jane Sampson nodded, "We still have to bake cookies."

James Black then hummed in response and turned to walk out first.
