Chapter 135: Chapter 143: No Room for Negotiation

Father Sampton had only Bright Sampton as a son and naturally wished the best for him.

In his heart, if his daughter lived well, dressed well, and married into a family that matched in social and economic status and could help their own house, it meant he hadn’t doted on his daughter in vain. But his son was different; his son was the one who would inherit him, the one to carry on the family.

After airing out a storm of anger, Father Sampton left the house in high spirits. The internet realm was abuzz with topics about Jane Sampson the actor heating up, but he no longer had the fury he felt this morning upon seeing those news items.

Jane Sampson had already married into the Black Family, becoming James Black’s wife. If James Black himself wasn’t angry, then what was there for him to be angry about?

Besides, based on his understanding of James Black, even if Old Master Black did not like Jane Sampson pursuing an acting career, he probably wouldn’t really do anything about it.

Meanwhile, at the Black Residence, Old Master Black, who was unaware that James Black had already found out the news and rushed home from the guard team, was now pacing back and forth, obsessively looking at the same few photos on his tablet computer.

"Dad, you’ve been looking at that for almost a whole morning. Isn’t that enough? Do you still want your presbyopia, or what?" Brooke Black just came out of the study and saw Old Master Black’s smiling face. Annoyed, she walked over and snatched the tablet from Old Master Black’s hands.

Old Master Black’s mustache quivered as he glared at Brooke Black, "The bigger they get, the less filial they are! Even daring to snatch my stuff!"

Having said that, Old Master Black then took out his mobile phone from his pocket, huffing twice, "If you won’t let me look at the tablet, I still have my mobile phone!"

"Young Master James Black has returned," the nanny suddenly announced from outdoors into the inside room.

"So soon?" Old Master Black was surprised and quickly hid his mobile phone. He then sat up straight and stern, his face suddenly changing from the amiable smile to a thunderous expression.

Brooke Black felt like giving Old Master Black a thumbs up to commend him for his swift change of face.

"Grandfather."

James Black strode in from the outdoors and immediately saw that the tablet in Brooke Black’s hand was displaying Jane Sampson’s publicity photos.

"It seems everyone already knows," James Black said as he sat down across from Old Master Black.

"You still have the face to come?" Old Master Black slammed his hand onto the tea table once James Black sat down, making the teacup on it rattle, "Look at the fine job your wife did! Deceiving the public, thrusting herself into the spotlight – when did the Black Family ever have a wife like this?"

"Acting is also a form of art, so what my wife said earlier doesn’t count as deceiving the public," James Black, though he had been angry about Jane Sampson’s dishonesty, didn’t give away the fact that he had not known about it at all previously in front of Old Master Black.

"Her career as an actor has my approval; I agreed to it," James Black said, crossing his legs, "We’re in the new era now. I don’t see anything wrong with being an actor."

"Nonsense!" Old Master Black had been a stern defender all his life; naturally, his temper was not the best, and so the words that came out of his mouth were far from pleasant, "Either she quits, or you two divorce! There’s no room for discussion!"

After speaking, Old Master Black looked outside again, "Where is she? Did she come alone? Doesn’t she have the guts to face it? Daring to do but not to admit, what a coward! I think don’t even give her a chance, just divorce! Better you two just get divorced!"

"Impossible," James Black’s voice was cold and firm, "If you honorable elder can’t stand her being an actor, in the future, I’ll make sure she stays away from you. As for your demand that we divorce, that’s out of the question, and don’t even think about doing something behind our backs. In short, I’ll protect my own wife."
