Chapter 131: Chapter 139: Returning to Black Residence

James Black came out of the kitchen, and Jane Sampson was still sitting in the same spot, her hands gripping the back of the chair, her chin resting on the back of her hands, looking like a despondent basset hound at a loss of what to be melancholy about.

After James Black went back to his room to change into another set of clothes, Jane Sampson saw that he was getting ready to leave the house, she stood up from the chair and followed him, nonchalantly asking, "Where are you going?"

"Back to the Black Residence." James Black was already at the doorway when he heard Jane Sampson ask him, he finished changing his shoes, looked back, and added, "Do you want to come back with me?"

Jane Sampson declined without hesitation, shaking her head vigorously, probably fearing that James Black would forcefully drag her back, so she bolted back to her room.

"You go back first and smooth things over for me, when grandfather’s attitude softens, then I’ll personally go back and apologize." Jane Sampson shouted from her room.

James Black’s lips curved into a silent smile, it was just to tease her, but her reaction was indeed very pleasing to him.

Listening to the sound of James Black closing the door, Jane Sampson sighed in relief and then threw herself onto the bed, finally feeling up to playing a couple of games on her mobile phone.

It was only when Jane Sampson took out her mobile phone that she realized Peter Gingery had called her several times before.

Over at the Sampton Family, after Bright Sampton had dropped off Jane Sampson, he first went back to the school to request a few days off specially; in Bright Sampton’s view, it was very likely that Jane Sampson and James Black would get divorced this time, so he needed to free up some time to be with Jane Sampson post-divorce.

Once he had successfully taken his leave, Bright Sampton then took a car back to the Sampton Family home.

Bright Sampton originally thought that his forceful action of taking Jane Sampson away would enrage Father Sampton, but to his surprise, when he got home, the family was sitting in the living room, and the atmosphere didn’t seem particularly bad.

"Bright is back." The first to notice Bright Sampton was Mother Sampton, but just as she was about to speak, Father Sampton interjected, "Did you take your sister home? Did you see your brother-in-law?"

"I only took her to the downstairs of her home building, I didn’t see my brother-in-law; what’s up, did Brother also come back?" Bright Sampton immediately tensed up, "Did Brother call back? What did he say? Is he going to divorce my sister?"

"Hmph." Julie Sampton, who was seated there, stretched out her hand to pull the already-standing Mother Sampton back to sit beside her, and then said coldly, "That wonderful brother-in-law of yours, just because dad slapped Jane Sampson, made a special call back to threaten dad, even saying things like, his wife, no one has the qualification and right to discipline her without going through him, dad included, what kind of talk is that? Jane Sampson is dad’s daughter, how can dad not have the right to discipline her?"

"After getting married, a sister comes under her husband’s care, that’s not wrong." Although Bright Sampton was suppressing his dismay at the thought of James Black calling to settle accounts with their father because his sister was hit, it was much better than calling to discuss divorce with their father.

At least this showed that Brother James Black was protecting his sister.

"Julie, don’t talk about your brother-in-law and sister like that, James Black is just fond of Jane, and besides, his nature is not one to be easily dealt with." Mother Sampton quickly intervened for fear that Bright Sampton and Julie would start arguing again, trying to play the peacemaker.

Julie stomped her feet in frustration, snorted, and turned her head away.

She was furious that despite everything that had happened, James Black, the husband who didn’t seem to care much about Jane usually, was now defending her!

Julie wished Jane Sampson would be cast out by the Black Family, discarded by them; she wanted to see then, how an divorced woman could still act all high and mighty and proud!
