Chapter 95: Something Going On

Everyone’s eyes darted to Amy when she said she has suggestions. Amy is a laid-back boss in Bellory Cafe and in the farm. She would often just stays behind the scenes and lets Mary and Sandra decide. And this is because she thinks that they are better at making decisions than her for they majored in business back in college.

Even though this is what has been happening ever since Amy inherited Bellory, the two still make sure to get Amy’s approval before proceeding with their suggestions and decisions.

So when Amy stopped Anton from adjourning their meeting because of her idea, Mary and Sandra were surprised but excited at the same time.

It would be the first time that she will be putting ideas directly into the business operation.

"I think it would be great if we can add a reader’s corner in the shops and maybe a small shelf in the kiosks. This way we can earn extra from the membership fees. Just that one fee and they will have access to everything.

Also, I have talked to my publisher, and they said they can offer us open accounts for their online books and novels. All we have to do is provide gadgets to the customers so they can access them.

So there will be two options... Paper books and online books.

I would also like to have more single sofa chairs for those who wanted to have coffee and work or study on their laptops alone rather than share a table with someone.

This way we don’t only attract people who are working in the corporate setting but also freelancers and students so we can target multiple audiences at once," Amy said in a calm and confident tone.

"If that’s the case we will be needing a lot of books since we plan to open at least ten branches this year, and it will be an additional cost on top of our current budget," Anton said.

Amy shook her head and said, "There will be no cost at all except for the gadgets, three to five for a start will be enough for each shop. And second-hand gadgets will be enough since it’s only for reading anyways.

The books will be provided by my publisher. We will take those that are still in good condition but are on their way to recycling centers.

If ever it’s a success then that’s the time that we can purchase our own books. All they ask is a minimal profit share from the membership fee," Amy explained.

"I think this is a good idea, I think I have seen something like this in other countries and it was very successful since people of all ages patronize their shops," Sandra said.

"And the more they enjoy our facility higher the chance they will come back and order over and over again. We can also display for free the books from your publisher, to sell them of course and your books as well, Amy." Mary elaborated.

"I agree, the good ambiance of the place will definitely attract more customers. And the ones who will become your regulars will bring their friends and family plus will help us spread the word," Theo excitedly voice out as he was already imagining the designs that he can put together for the cafes.

"Exactly, but I only have one book to display and sell there. You see... I quit writing. I have achieved my goal of publishing a good one and now I want to focus on what my parents left me," Amy lowered her head upon saying the latter.

She felt Henry’s hand touch hers and squeeze it tight. She looked at him and he gave her a reassuring smile as if he was saying it’s ok, you made the right decision, so she smiled back at him with no hint of regret.

"So what do you think Henry?" Anton asked and everyone’s heads turned in Henry’s direction.

He had his elbow resting on the table with his index finger and thumb supporting his jaw while thinking. He stayed quiet for some time ’as if’ he was thinking but he already made his decision even before Anton asked his opinion about it.

Amy did not realize she was holding her breath while waiting for Henry to speak, after all, he is the big boss and it is up to him if the team will proceed with her suggestion.

"I think it is also a good idea. The fact that there’s no additional cost for the books and minimal cost for the second-hand gadgets, I mean why not, right? We might even get the gadgets for free, if we can exchange some products for them," Henry stated.

Amy finally released the breath that she was holding. She felt relieved and happy at the same time. She finally experienced how it feels like to be a boss who makes her own decision and does not rely on other people’s ideas.

After wrapping up their business plan Mary stayed with Anton and Theo for the final touches that he needs for the construction of the branches.

"Amy, I’ll go ahead. I still need to buy some things in the mall before I go back home," Sandra said.

"How about Mary? Aren’t you two went here together?" Amy asked in confusion.

"Uhm... She said it may take a while... I mean their meeting... Rei will drive me home, he said he left his jacket at your house and he plans to get it today so I can go with him," Sandra stuttered as she explains her plan to Amy and Henry.

Henry raised a brow while trying to suppress his laugh, "He said that? Hmm..." he uttered as he rubbed his chin while they walk out of the boardroom.

’Rei is up to something,’ Henry thought.

They were surprised when they saw Rei waiting in the hallway already just outside his office near the elevator.

Rei saw them approaching and Amy noticed him blush when he saw Sandra with them.

"Amy! I-I forgot my jacket at y-your house. Sandra said she has a key and can get it for me. So I-I will go with her to get it," and as expected Rei stuttered as well, same as Sandra before.

"Really now?" Amy said teasingly.

"Of course! Why would I go there without you or Henry?" Rei rebutted.

"Ok, go and behave Rei," Amy said mirthfully.

"W-What are you talking about, I am always on my best behavior," Rei retorted.

"Just go, before I change my mind and give you a task to ruin your date with Sandra," Henry was the one who spoke this time and of course, he did not let him go without teasing him as he smiles ear to ear.

Rei hurriedly walks to the elevator with Sandra, and Henry cannot help but shake his head while chuckling by himself at how childish Rei looked. He has been friends with Rei ever since primary school but this is the first time that he saw his best friend finally date a girl.

"There’s definitely something going on between those two," Amy murmured before she felt Henry hold her hand.

"Are you ready to see your temporary office?" Henry asked excitedly. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Amy smiled and answered enthusiastically, "Let’s go!"
