CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 328: [Bonus - ] Just A Dream
Ash tried to go to the ICU to check on Ava but the nurses and resident doctors did not allow him to see her yet since they are following strict visitation hours for the patients who are in critical condition. Ash stayed outside the ICU for several minutes pondering about what he would say to Ava especially now that his father is dead and Amy has yet to receive the news about Henry.
After doing some thinking, he finally decided to go to the morgue to see his father which is just located across from the hospital. He first changed into his clothes and saw Mary and Anton in the hallway and in a hurry.
"Did something happen?" Ash asked Anton since Mary did not bother to stop walking even if she saw him.
"Amy and Rei’s plane landed. They will be escorted by the police since a lot of people from the media are waiting for them so it is expected that they will arrive here faster. Do you want to come?" Anton said.
"Alright, let’s go," Ash nodded and both men headed toward the hospital’s VIP elevator where they were told Amy and Rei would go through to avoid the press.
Mary and Amy’s cousins were already there when Anton and Ash arrived. Mary kept on walking back and forth obviously nervous and anxious. It was already two in the morning and no one was a bit sleepy or tired.
All of them were restless and worried about Amy and Rei, they didn’t know how the two would react or what would they do once they talked to them.
And in no time, the elevator door opened and Amy quickly got out of it, "Where’s my husband? Please tell me he is ok."
Mary immediately hugged Amy tight and tried to calm her first, "Amy, I will take you to the doctor, but promise me to calm down first so you will understand the explanation that he will say ok?"
Amy’s eyes widened and she saw a glint of hope in Mary’s words, "So, Henry is ok?" Amy asked Mary as she held her hands firmly.
Mary glanced at Rei who already knew the situation before looking back to Amy, "Why don’t we go to the doctor now so we can hear his report?"
Amy nodded and followed what her best friend said. She is hoping that there is not much damage to Henry’s body but either way, whatever his condition is, she will still accept him.
While on the plane Amy kept on thinking what is the extent of Henry’s injuries. She already prepared herself to see his skin burned and possibly his face. She also told herself since it was an explosion, it was highly possible that Henry could have lost an arm or leg but she didn’t care.
She loves him unconditionally and will accept him in whatever state he is in, as long as he is alive, she promises to take care of him as long as she lives.
Mary and Anton kept on talking to Amy informing her about the situation on the wellsite and about Ava and Theo as well as the rest of the employees that she didn’t notice where they were headed until they reached the door.
"No! No, no, no! Why did you take me here? Henry is not in there! Please tell me he is not in there! I begged you, Mary please tell me we are going in there because of Henry! My husband is not dead!" Amy watched Mary’s tears fall while she silently held her arms, preventing her from falling down.
Amy looked around and saw Sandra, Maya, Mitch, Anton, and Rei crying as well, her heart pounded hard, so hard that she could feel each and every beat of it. Each beat gives her pain as if it were punching her ribs, wanting to get out of her chest.
She didn’t notice that her tears were already falling as well, as she gazed at the reaction of everyone around her. She saw Ash leaning against the wall, looking down at the floor, she quickly went to him and held his hands.
"Ash please tell me that Henry survived the explosion like Ava. I don’t care if he lost his face, his arms, or his legs, I just want him alive, that is all, please tell me he is still breathing!" Amy begged Ash.
He could not take the pitiful face of Amy, his best friend... The woman that he used to love. He pulled her close for an embrace but Amy pushed him away.
"No! I do not want any comfort, tell me that my husband is alive!" Amy exclaimed.
"I am sorry, Amy, I’m so sorry..." Ash uttered, almost in a whisper.
"No! No! No!" Amy slumped to the floor as she sobbed hard. The hallway was filled with her weeping and grief.
She felt as if her whole world was suddenly taken away from her, her heart felt so heavy and painful, but still, she didn’t believe that her husband was on the other side of the wall in a cold freezer.
Rei swiftly grabbed her arms gently to stand her up, "Come here, Amy."
"Rei... Please, please, please..." Amy could feel herself gasping for air, her head and chest felt like they were about to explode. Her sight was blurry and her hands felt numb.
’This is just a dream... This is not real... Henry, my love, where are you? Please wake me up... I cannot breathe, I feel like I am dying. My love, I need you!’ Amy thought inwardly.
Amy felt her lips and fingers starting to get cold and her vision becoming dark until she could see none.
"Amy! Amy! Oh God! Call someone!" Rei exclaimed as Amy collapsed in his arms.
Sandra ran out and informed the first hospital personnel that she saw about the situation. Everyone acted fast and a wheeled stretcher soon arrived and brought Amy to the emergency room.
