Chapter 300: Perfect Chance (1)

Not just Amy, but also everyone else was filled with excitement about their flight today. Originally scheduled for Monday, they planned to travel to Brookegrove. However, since they were using Henry’s plane, Sandra inquired if she could join the trip. Her reasons were to reunite with Jayson and Jena, as well as to have more time with Rei, who would also stay in Brookegrove as long as Henry was there.

Upon hearing the news, Mary expressed her desire to join the trip as well, setting off a chain reaction. The excitement spread like wildfire, with Anton, Maya, and Theo also expressing their interest in coming along. Even Helen and Troy sought permission to join the journey. Amy was overjoyed at the eagerness of everyone to visit her nephew and niece.

However, the person most elated by this situation was Henry. To him, these people were like a big, loving family—a feeling he had never experienced before. Approving everyone’s request brought him immense joy. His plane, which had mostly been used for business purposes, would now be accommodating such a large number of people for a personal trip, marking a special first for him.

Once their plan was solidified, Henry wasted no time and immediately called Martha to make preparations. He wanted her to arrange the guests’ rooms and plan a sumptuous feast for their stay in Brookegrove, even though it would only be for one night due to work commitments. Despite the short duration, he was determined to make their time unforgettable and one of the best experiences.

Amidst the ongoing search for the mastermind behind the accident and Amy’s kidnapping, Henry’s life seemed to be improving in every aspect, and he couldn’t have asked for more. The prospect of having his first child with Amy and eventually receiving the remaining share from Uncle Trev in Welsh Holdings filled him with gratitude and contentment.

There was a time when Henry couldn’t fathom being this fulfilled and not yearning for more in life. As he gazed at the faces of the people he cherished, gathered together, laughing and chatting at Mary’s outdoor patio during breakfast, he felt overwhelmed with happiness.

He couldn’t help but admire Theo for his perfect rebuilding of the place. Now, every time they visited, Mary could remember how it once was when he and Ash accidentally destroyed it, and witness the beauty it had transformed into.

As the sun had yet to rise, Uncle Troy roused everyone from their slumber to indulge in the breakfast Helen had thoughtfully prepared for their journey. She even packed some extra for Jayson and Jena, including their favorite Bellory pastries.

They reached the hangar before sunrise and everyone settled on their seats on the plane as soon as they got in. Everyone except for Amy, Henry, Helen, and Troy, swiftly engrossed themselves on their laptops to work.

Helen couldn’t help but express her surprise and concern, commenting, "My, my, what are these young people doing to their lives? It’s Sunday, and we’re on a plane for a short trip, yet here they are working away." She shook her head in disbelief at their dedication to work even during leisure time.

Seated opposite Amy and Henry, the older couple enjoyed their own space, while the rest of the group occupied various couches and sofas, each preoccupied with their own activities.

Amy couldn’t help but chuckle at Auntie Helen’s comment. "Well," she explained, "they’re actually doing some advance work because they won’t be able to get to work on time tomorrow. It’s an unplanned trip anyways. So, I guess they’re delegating tasks to their assistants right now since the trip wasn’t initially planned. Henry and I took care of our tasks last week as we knew we’d be away for a longer period."

Understanding the need for preparation, Auntie Helen nodded with a smile, appreciating the responsible approach Amy and Henry had taken to ensure everything would run smoothly during their absence. With that, the group settled into a comfortable atmosphere, enjoying each other’s company during their flight to Brookegrove.

Helen remarked, "Being a boss must be quite challenging. You have so many responsibilities on your plate. By the way, dear, how long will you be staying in Brookegrove?"

Amy replied, "I’ll be there for approximately a month, Auntie, precisely twenty-eight days. The wellsite requires my presence, so, unfortunately, I can’t extend my stay beyond that." She expressed her understanding of the importance of her work commitment while also expressing a hint of disappointment at not being able to stay longer.

Uncle Troy let out a scoffing sound upon hearing Amy mention the wellsite, catching the attention of everyone in the group. His statement piqued the curiosity of Amy and Henry, causing them to exchange questioning glances. It seemed that there was more to the story than they were aware of.

Intrigued, Amy couldn’t help but probe further, seeking clarification. "Uncle, what do you mean by ’for years’?" she asked, wanting to understand the history behind the wellsite and Lucas’s involvement.

"Before you came into this world, your father had already submitted a funding proposal to various investment companies, including yours, Henry. Unfortunately, it faced rejection. One of the companies even claimed it was fake, stating that there was no oil in the land when they conducted tests.

As a result, everyone else turned down your dad’s proposal. After a few years, Brighton Industries shut down its doors for potential collaboration and instead struck an exclusive deal with San Francisco Petroleum Corp. It was during that time when Lucas had just taken over as the newly appointed CEO and owner.

Your father had invested significant money and effort into digging, hoping to find oil. However, despite the initial confirmation from the company that tested the ground, they vanished, leaving no trace. Faced with mounting financial losses and neglecting his other business ventures, your dad eventually gave up on the project, leading some of his other enterprises to shut down," Uncle Troy recounted, shedding light on the difficult history surrounding the wellsite.

"I still can’t wrap my head around it, Uncle. Why would Uncle Lucas advise my father to sell the wellsite?" Amy inquired, seeking clarification.

"Your dad’s debts were mounting due to the business that had shut down, so Lucas suggested selling it to get some money and lessen the burden. However, once your mom started working in Bellory, sales took off, and his other ventures began thriving as well. As a result, the idea of selling the land was no longer discussed," Troy explained.

Amy expressed her confusion, saying, "But, Uncle, he still used the land as collateral for a loan. To this day, I can’t understand why he did that if the business was doing well."

"I’m afraid I don’t have an answer for that, dear. However, one thing I’m certain of is that wherever Mr. Bell is now, he must be immensely proud of you. Who could have foreseen that it would be you who’d discover and utilize the hidden treasure on that land," Troy said with a smirk on his face, acknowledging Amy’s accomplishments.

Amy returned Uncle Troy’s smile, she knows that he could only tell so much information so she did not ask for more. Even though it was not that much, she is still happy to get to know something about the past.

But it also confused her at the same time. How come his father and Lucas still remained friends after Brighton Industries closed their doors to his Dad? And how come his father still continued some business ventures with Lucas after that? Aren’t they supposed to be not friends anymore after all those things? She asked herself and unconsciously frowning hard while staring particularly at nothing.

Henry noticed her expression and immediately squeezed her hand gently, "There’s no need for you to worry love, I’ll take of it," he then gave her a warm smile.

Henry’s affirmation was enough for Amy to brush off the worry in her mind. He is all that she needs in her life and everything will follow and will be in the right place as long as they are together.

The travel time going to Brookegrove is quite significant but it was well spent with the people they love. As soon as everyone was done doing their tasks allocation and advance work, they decided to pass the time by playing cards, betting with real money.

They didn’t know that Uncle Troy was very good at it beating all of them and talking all their money to his pocket. The women gave up after a few rounds, not wanting to lose more money but the men didn’t give up that easily making them lose more cash to Uncle Troy.

Because of that, they didn’t notice that they are already in Brookegrove and finally, it is time for them to see Jayson and Jena. They arrived early and had to wait for their transport to arrive and pick them up.

They decided to have some snacks first while waiting but Henry has a different plan. And after all the waiting this is the perfect chance for him to finally do it.

"Love, I don’t feel good. I feel sick," Henry uttered making Amy worry for Henry looked sick and anxious. Large beads of sweat are forming on his forehead.

"Are you ok, Henry?" Amy asked worriedly.

"I am not, love..."
