CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 276: Coffee Wednesday
In the days that followed, they tried to be as normal as they can even if Josephine’s death remained unsolved. There were no traces of the perpetrator responsible for her demise or, at the very least, the individual who attempted to assist her in ending her own life.
The perpetrator seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind, and they were completely clueless about the true mastermind behind it all. As promised, Welsh’s lawyers managed to reduce the charges against Kevin, resulting in a shorter sentence for him compared to Alex.
As part of the agreement, Kevin did cooperate with Rei and Henry’s lawyers in their efforts to investigate the mastermind. Although he doesn’t know the identity of this person, Kevin had encountered certain experiences during his time with Josephine that strongly suggest the existence of such a person.
Despite maintaining a heightened sense of vigilance and having increased security measures in place, they continued with their lives and looked toward the future. They remained mindful of their surroundings while carrying on with their daily routines.
Bellory successfully launched and opened all ten of its branches without any obstacles, effectively completing the first phase of the Bellory Cafe expansion project. As part of their plan, they intend to take a brief break in order to observe and evaluate the progress of these ten branches before moving forward with the second phase.
The sales of both the main branch on the farm and all the other stores have been thriving thus far. Sandra took the initiative to advertise online and on billboards along major roads and highways in preparation for the project’s second phase.
Mary even suggested to Amy the idea of opening up franchising opportunities once the second phase is successfully completed, and Amy enthusiastically agreed to the proposal.
They decided to take a one-month break before commencing the planning for the next set of ten branches. During this break, everyone took some time to relax and unwind, while also dedicating their attention to the daily and weekly sales reports of the existing branches. They aimed to assess the performance and gather valuable insights to inform their future expansion strategies.
As the upcoming month was anticipated to be relatively quiet for Bellory Inc., Amy took the opportunity to assist Henry in supervising the construction of the oil dig site. It happened to be a Wednesday, the day when Amy had promised to treat the workers to coffee and pastries from Bellory Cafe.
Recognizing the value of Amy gaining knowledge about their oil business, Henry permitted her to visit the site accompanied by her security team. He specifically instructed Theo to support Amy during her visit, providing her with insights and teachings about the operations at the site.
Two weeks have passed since the establishment of ’Coffee Wednesday,’ as the workers fondly refer to it. Theo made an announcement at the site, notifying everyone that the owner would be visiting and emphasizing the importance of showcasing their best behavior during the visit.
The announcement stirred up excitement among the workers, as they were eager to express their gratitude to their boss for the weekly treats of exquisite coffee and delicious pastries. Such gestures of appreciation were uncommon in their industry, making it even more remarkable. The workers acknowledged and appreciated the owner’s thoughtful act, recognizing that it had not gone unnoticed.
As soon as Amy’s car and the accompanying convoy came into view, the workers eagerly assembled in front of the site, forming a crowd. Those who were farther away from the site quickly made their way to the path where they anticipated Amy’s arrival, knowing that she would pass by on her way to Theo’s container office. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement.
"What’s going on?" Amy inquired of Ava, seeking an explanation upon noticing the assembled workers at the front of the property as they approached the site.
"I’m not sure either. Dave, please slow down for a moment. I’ll call Theo first," Ava responded, wanting to ensure that the gathering of workers was an anticipated event rather than a form of protest or any unexpected occurrence.
"Ava, don’t worry about it. Look! Theo is at the gate, and let’s read what’s written on the placards the workers are holding," Mitch called out, drawing attention to Theo’s presence and the messages displayed on the placards. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Happy Coffee Wednesday, Boss! Thank you, and we love you!" Dave read aloud the words displayed on the signage held by the workers.
"Aww, that’s incredibly sweet. It seems they genuinely enjoyed the treats you provided, Amy," Ava remarked. However, when Amy didn’t respond, Ava, who was seated in front, turned to look at her, noticing her silence.
Ava noticed Amy wiping away a tear or two that had escaped her eyes. She reached out and gently patted Amy’s knee, offering comfort. "You did a wonderful thing, Amy. I’m proud to have you as my boss," she expressed warmly.
Amy chuckled, looking up and trying to fan her eyes to prevent more tears from falling. "Ava, are you trying to make me cry, huh?" she playfully teased, appreciating Ava’s kind words and her attempt to comfort her.
"Hey, you two, cut it out. Do you want me to start crying too?" Mitch interjected with a light-hearted tone, joining in the playful banter.
Dave let out a sigh, teasingly remarking, "Ah, women... Why are you all such crybabies? Can’t the workers just thank their boss?"
"Ava’s right, Dave. You can be quite emotionless sometimes. We’re simply moved by the warm welcome and appreciation they’re expressing. And just so you know, these are tears of joy," Ava defended, emphasizing that the tears shed were a result of the touching gesture from the workers.
As their car came to a halt in front of Theo, the crowd erupted in cheers for Amy as she stepped out of the vehicle. While the workers expressed their enthusiastic applause, they maintained their discipline by holding their positions and refraining from approaching Amy too closely. They struck a balance between showing their excitement and respecting her personal space.
As Amy turned to face the workers, a collective bow swept through the crowd, and in unison, they exclaimed, "Thank you for taking care of us, boss! Please accept our heartfelt gratitude." The workers expressed their genuine appreciation, acknowledging Amy’s care and leadership with a deep sense of respect and gratitude.
Amy smiled and expressed her appreciation for the hard work of the workers. However, as she whispered to Theo, she couldn’t help but sense that something was amiss, given the excessive praise she was receiving from the workers. "It feels like there’s something going on here that I wasn’t informed about," Amy shared with Theo, curious about the underlying reasons behind the workers’ overwhelming commendation.
"Wow, you’re quite perceptive. Let’s head to my office, and I’ll fill you in on what’s going on," Theo responded, motioning for Amy and the others to follow him.
