CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 273: Good and Generous (2)
By the time they had finished exploring every corner of the dig site, it was already past lunchtime. Engrossed in their activities and fueled by a satisfying breakfast earlier in the day, they had lost track of time. As they returned to the temporary office, they noticed the workers taking their lunch break and some who are almost done. It reminded them that it was time to satisfy their own appetites as well.
Amy was touched by the generosity of the workers, who kindly offered to share their lunches with her and Henry. Despite the limited amount of food they had for themselves, they selflessly extended a portion of it to Amy and Henry as a gesture of hospitality and kindness.
Impressed by the workers’ dedication and their gesture of sharing their lunches, Amy made a mental note to express her gratitude and reward their hard work. She decided that, as a token of appreciation, she would arrange to provide them with a special reward or treat at least once a week. Amy wanted to ensure that their efforts were recognized and that they felt valued for their contributions to the project.
"Henry, what do you think about the idea of sending coffee and pastries here once a week? It could be a way to motivate and reward the workers. Perhaps we can do it on Wednesdays since it’s a day when Bellory is less busy," Amy proposed. As she was still adjusting to the responsibilities of managing a business of this magnitude, Amy valued Henry’s opinion and sought his input before taking any action.
"If it’s within Bellory’s financial capabilities, I see no issue with it. Discuss the details with Maya to ensure that the expense remains within reasonable limits and doesn’t exceed the profit. If it checks out, I believe it’s a wonderful and generous gesture to show appreciation to the workers," Henry responded. He trusted Amy’s judgment and wanted to support her initiatives while also considering the overall financial health of the business.
After thoroughly inspecting the construction site, Amy, Henry, Anton, and Rei decided it was best not to linger any longer, considering they hadn’t brought packed lunches with them. Understanding the importance of Theo’s presence on-site, they bid him farewell and left him to oversee the project while they made their way back.
"Do you think we should visit the girls at the subway branch?" Amy asked Henry, concerned that no one was responding to her text messages.
"I don’t think it’s a good idea," Henry replied. "Given what happened to Josephine, the press may already be aware, and they could be waiting for you to make a public appearance. It might lead to them swarming around you again."
"He’s right, Amy," Rei chimed in. "And you don’t need to worry about them. I spoke with Ava and Dave a little while ago. The launch was a success, and there was a long line of customers buying your coffee. They are likely busy right now."
"Alright, let’s head back to the office then," Amy said with a tinge of disappointment. She had been looking forward to getting a glimpse of what was happening at the fifth branch. However, she understood the valid concerns raised by both Henry and Rei, and she couldn’t argue against their reasoning. Despite her disappointment, Amy recognized the importance of prioritizing safety and avoiding unnecessary media attention.
As soon as Amy and the others arrived at the Welsh Holdings Building, Amy made her way straight to Bellory. However, before she could enter her office, she was greeted by Mary, who had a wide grin on her face.
"What are you doing here? I thought Rei said the launch was a success?" Amy questioned, curious about Mary’s unexpected presence.
"Yes, it was quite surprising how quickly the supplies ran out," Mary responded. "After lunch, when you were texting me, the kiosk sold out. We tried contacting suppliers, but unfortunately, they can only deliver tomorrow morning. Taking supplies from our other branch was not an option either, as it might deplete their stock.
So Sandra, Maya, and I made the decision to close the kiosk early and put up a ’sold out’ sign. This way, people would know that it was a success, and the closure was due to high demand."
Amy was amazed by the swift response from customers. "That’s incredible! We didn’t even run online or TV ads, and yet it gained so much attention," she remarked.
"Well, Sandra’s technique of inviting social media influencers paid off, plus the press that you bribed with coffee and pastries did their job in featuring Bellory in their articles. Your kidnapping and fighting skills had also contributed a lot. There are customers asking for you, as if you are a celebrity. Good thing you are there, there was no place to hide in there," Mary said and they both chuckled in unison.
"That’s good publicity then. Have you seen Maya? I have a proposal for the workers in the dig site and it’s going to be expensive, I need her opinion and approval about it," Amy asked.
"Yup, she’s in her office. I’ll go with you, I wanna hear that idea of yours, for sure it is something crazy," Mary replied.
Maya initially had reservations about Amy’s idea due to the financial implications, considering the number of branches they had and the upcoming expansions. However, after running several simulations using the newly acquired app, Maya saw the potential and agreed to the proposal.
The meeting between Amy, Maya, and Mary was lengthy, as they had to carefully analyze the financial impact and logistics of providing coffee and pastries to the large workforce at the dig site. With hundreds of workers to consider, the funding required for this initiative was substantial.
However, their thorough analysis paid off, and Maya ultimately approved and signed off on a three-month coffee and pastry project spearheaded by Amy. At the end of the three-month period, they would reassess the feasibility and decide whether to continue.
The decision marked a significant commitment to the workers’ well-being and was a testament to Amy’s dedication to creating a positive work environment. They were optimistic about the positive impact it would have on morale and motivation at the site.
When they were finally done, it was already dark, the sun has set and most of the employees in Bellory had gone home. And when Amy called Henry up, his secretary said that he was still in a meeting, so Amy decided to grab something to eat first from the cafe downstairs before going to Henry’s office to wait for him.
When she was about to reach the Building’s main entrance she looked outside with narrowed eyes for she saw something very familiar. A tall, with a muscular build, and blonde hair man was standing just outside holding a bouquet of flowers.
And of course, she cannot be wrong for he had known this man all her life, so Amy walked faster to approach him. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Ash!" Amy exclaimed as soon as she went out the door.
