Chapter 214: Spill the Beans

"What?!" Amy let out a shrill exclamation, a mix of astonishment and disbelief evident in her voice.

"Shh..." Mary swiftly covered Amy’s mouth, anxious to prevent their conversation from reaching the ears of anyone outside.

Amy forcefully removed Mary’s hand, determined to continue, "Are you serious? You did not!"

With a sigh, Mary sank onto the sofa. "I can’t explain what came over me."

Amy joined her best friend on the couch, taking a seat beside her. "Do you have any regrets?" she inquired.

"Of course, none at all," Mary replied, her voice tinged with confidence. "But I also feel guilty at the same time. However, if given another chance, I would still make the same choice."

"I thought so too... So how was it?" Amy asked, a mischievous grin spreading across her face, directed at Mary.

"I am not telling you the details," Mary replied firmly, then turned around ready to leave the room.

Amy grabbed Mary’s wrist with both hands. "Wait! Don’t go. You don’t have to tell me the itsy bitsy tiny little detail. Just tell me about the overall experience," Amy tried her best to persuade her best friend.

"Well, it hurts like hell... but... Anton was surprisingly gentle," Mary teased a playful tone in her voice. "Okay, that’s all I’m saying. Goodbye, Amy!"

Amy’s determination intensified as she once again seized Mary’s arm and intertwined her legs with Mary’s, leaving no room for escape. "Noooo!" she insisted, "You’re not getting away that easily. I won’t let you leave until you give me more details. Come on, spill the beans!" Amy pleaded, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Haha! What’s gotten into you? Let me go!" Mary laughed, finding amusement in Amy’s childish antics. She playfully wriggled her arm and legs, attempting to free herself from Amy’s firm grasp.

"Nah uh!" Amy shook her head vigorously, refusing to release her grip on Mary. "How many times did you do it? You have to tell me!" Amy persisted, tightening her hold on Mary with each wriggle.

"Oh my goodness, Amy, stop behaving like a toddler," Mary exclaimed, growing weak with too much laughter. "Fine, five times, okay? Are you happy now? Now, please let me go." Mary used her free hand to pry Amy’s arms off her, determined to free herself from Amy’s grasp.

"Oh, my God! You bitch! Haha!" Amy exclaimed, bursting into laughter. "That’s why you are late, I am surprised you can still walk," Amy finally released her hold on Mary.

"I can’t feel my legs after that, which is why I was late!" Mary exclaimed, joining in the laughter with her best friend. The two friends laughed heartily, their joy turning into tears as they shared a moment of uncontrollable laughter.

"I don’t even want to imagine what his bed looked like, haha!" Amy managed to say through fits of laughter, clutching her stomach while continuing to find humor in the situation.

"Oh God, please don’t remind me," Mary responded, trying to stifle her laughter. "It was such a mess, so embarrassing. I had no idea there would be so much blood. I quickly removed the sheet and hid it deep in his closet. I can only imagine the housekeeper’s reaction when she discovers it. She might have a heart attack after screaming bloody murder!" Mary revealed, causing both of them to burst into even more laughter, unable to contain their hilarity.

"So, please, don’t disturb me this weekend. I have to do laundry," Mary added, a mischievous grin appeared on her face. "But honestly, I might just throw the sheet out and buy a new one if bleaching doesn’t work." This comment caused Amy to cackle even louder, their laughter echoing throughout the room.

"Oh my gosh, best, I’m going to die laughing!" Amy exclaimed, her laughter reaching an intense peak. She found herself catching her breath, unable to contain the overwhelming mirth of the moment. The hilarity of the situation seemed endless, leaving them both in stitches.

"So, you were still able to stand after doing all five in bed and manage to hide the sheet, huh?" Amy inquired, curiosity lingering in her voice after the laughter had subsided.

"No, actually, it was two in bed, and then we moved to the shower because we had to clean up, you know..." Mary’s comment triggered another round of laughter from Amy.

"Then we stayed in the tub. The warm water was so soothing, gosh, I loved it. So that’s the fourth. And lastly, we ended up in the closet, so the bed was safe in the end," Mary added, joining in the laughter once more. The humorous banter between the two friends brought a sense of joy that deepen their bond and create memories they would cherish.

"Alright, I forgive you. I will forget that you came in late today, and left my company unattended," Amy said while trying to calm down from intense laughter.

"Finally! But don’t ask for more, that’s all you’ll get," Mary responded, winking at Amy with a playful smile.

*Knock, knock*

The sound of a knock at the door caught their attention, causing both of them to turn their heads in that direction. Amy, attending to the presence of someone outside, called in for the person to come in.

Kevin entered the room, carrying two plates in his hands, and greeted Amy and Mary with a smile. "I saw Maya on her way here, and she asked me to bring these. She mentioned she had to take an urgent call," Kevin explained.

Upon seeing Kevin, Mary’s expression briefly turned sour, but she quickly composed herself. She briskly walked over to Kevin, taking the plates from his hands. "Let me take that. We can have a meeting later, once Amy goes home. Please inform the others. Thank you for the food, bye," Mary hastily exclaimed, attempting to dismiss Kevin right away.

"Actually, I was planning to eat here with you and catch up," Kevin responded, scratching his head awkwardly.

"Oh, sure, where’s yo–" Amy said but was immediately cut off by Mary.

"Where’s Henry?" Mary asked.

"I saw Mr. Welsh went out with Mr. Blair and Mr. Park. Maya went with them too." Kevin explained.

"Alright, join us, go get your food, we will wait for you," Mary said that made Kevin nod and quickly went out to get some food.

Mary immediately placed the plates on the coffee table and turned to Amy, "Don’t eat that, stay there," before she went out and spoke with Dave who was just outside Amy’s office standing on guard.

"Dave, did you check the food brought in by Kevin?" Mary asked swiftly.

"Yes, Mitch and I are keeping an eye on him, and we’re certain he didn’t tamper with it," Dave reassured Mary, handing her some drinks. "Take these, so Amy won’t suspect anything."

Mary took the drinks and returned to the room. "I hope you didn’t start without me," she said with a smile.

"Nope, I was wondering why you didn’t want me to eat the food. Now I know, my best friend just wants to have a meal with me, just like in old times," Amy replied, understanding now.

"Yup, and I got you some drinks. I don’t want you to choke after all that laughing," Mary added, settling back in as they wait for Kevin.

Once Kevin returned, the three of them ate together peacefully, engaging in conversations about work. Kevin showed concern for Amy’s health, but he refrained from prying further. Mary remained cautious around him, yet relieved that Kevin’s behavior seemed normal and non-suspicious.

As they spent their time together, a thought crossed Mary’s mind: ’Maybe we’ve been suspecting the wrong person after all?’ She pondered this silently, considering the possibility that their initial suspicions may have been misplaced.

However, Mary understood the importance of remaining vigilant and not jumping to conclusions. The situation required further observation and investigation to ensure their peace of mind.

Kevin did not stay long, he left as soon as they all finished eating and helped the ladies clean up the plates before leaving.

"Mary, I can sense that you don’t like Kevin," Amy stated.

"Why would you say that?" Mary responded.

"You observe him closely, like a hawk. Is there something you’re not telling me?" Amy inquired.

Mary, wanting to avoid arousing Amy’s suspicions and potentially compromising their ongoing investigation, decided to deflect her friend’s curiosity. "I heard a rumor while you were away that Kevin is a certified playboy, and I just want to ensure that he doesn’t cause any trouble for you," Mary explained, offering a plausible reason for her cautious behavior.

Fortunately, Amy accepted Mary’s explanation without probing further, believing that Mary had her best interests at heart. This allowed Mary to maintain her vigilance without raising any additional suspicions.

Mary was determined to ensure Rei’s success in apprehending the main culprit, and she was willing to resort to telling a few white lies to Amy if it meant protecting her best friend’s safety.

Safeguarding Amy was Mary’s top priority, and if withholding certain information or providing alternate explanations helped achieve that, she was prepared to take those measures. Mary understood the importance of maintaining discretion and strategic deception in their investigation.
