CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 207: Prove It
The incoming branch opening of Bellory Cafe is making everyone busy especially since Amy is still in the hospital, making everyone do overtime work. Sandra and Maya had decided to stay in Henry’s mansion to be able to stay longer in Bellory’s office and finish everything before the opening day.
Same thing in Welsh Holdings, where Anton handles most of the tasks since Henry is out and Rei is focusing on the plane investigation.
It was already late and Anton had decided to go to Mary’s office instead of waiting for her to finish. Perhaps he even needs to drag Mary away just to stop her from working.
Anton’s intuition proved correct as he discovered Mary, Sandra, and Maya in the meeting room, engrossed in their work on their laptops. To make matters worse, they had even convinced Mitch and Dave to join them.
No one noticed that Anton had entered the meeting room with food packs in his hand. "You should all get some rest," Anton said as he place the food packs on the table.
It was the only time that the people in the room had realized that he was in there with their delicious dinner. Everyone immediately stood up and rushed to Anton like a hungry hoard of zombies and took the food of their choice.
Anton stood there, his jaw dropped and utterly astonished by everyone’s actions. "Wow, when was the last time any of you actually had a meal?"
"Lunch... We had lunch, but all the work that we did made us super hungry," Sandra said while trying to keep the food in her mouth.
"We still have a lot to finish, Theo said the renovation will be done this week so the interior designer can come in by Monday to do the finishing touches and bring all the appliances and furniture in.
I gave them four days to polish everything so we can do a test run with the new employees on Friday, then we can have a soft opening on the weekend," Mary told Anton.
Anton nodded approvingly as he observed everyone enthusiastically devouring their take-out meals. "So, you’re opening the one in the hotel, correct?" he asked, seeking confirmation.
"Yes, so you can go home first, we still need to finish some –"
Everyone: "NO!"
Mary was not able to finish since everyone including Anton expresses their strong disapproval of her plan to stay in unison. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"For God’s sake Mary, we need to rest. Even you need to rest. Let’s all go home after eating, I don’t want to get sick when the opening day comes," Sandra decided to speak for everyone for what she said is true.
As she had been observing everyone earlier, she noticed that exhaustion had taken its toll on everyone, including Mary. However, despite being tired, Mary, being a dedicated strategist, was stubbornly insistent on completing advanced work that very night.
Mary did not argue anymore for she thinks that Sandra was right, and there is still tomorrow to finish everything.
"Sandra, can I ask you a favor?" Anton said before leaving the meeting room. "Can you please drag Rei home? I will call security if we need to. He is working nonstop, he only listens to you."
Sandra chuckled, "You don’t need to ask Anton, I already told him to go home with me and Maya, he has no choice but to come with us."
"Hey, I heard that!" Rei exclaimed as he appeared from the hallway. "I’m here, no need to ask Sandra to babysit me."
Anton laughed at himself for being caught, "Let’s all go together, shall we?"
Observing the exchange of conversation between the others, Mary started to feel a sense of unease. While Anton had chosen not to disturb her throughout the day, she couldn’t help but wonder what he might say when they were alone later.
Mary allowed the others to exit the meeting room before following suit. Anton mirrored her actions, and as soon as Mary stepped out of the room, he reached for her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers.
That gesture took Mary by surprise, as she and Anton were not the type of couple to openly display affection in public. The simple act was enough to make her cheeks blush a rosy pink, and she instinctively bit her lower lip to suppress her smile, feeling a mix of happiness and bashfulness.
Soon everyone reaches the parking lot and has to go their separate ways. Anton, who was being extra gentlemanly walked to the passenger side and opened the door for Mary.
"What’s going on with you?" Mary asked in bewilderment, squinting her eyes at Anton. "Did you do something wrong?" she questioned, trying to make sense of his unusually considerate behavior.
"Why do you think that way? Can’t I do such things to my girlfriend? Go in." Anton said as he winked at Mary.
Mary scoffed and abruptly halted in front of the open car door. She stared in astonishment but quickly covered her mouth with one hand, using the other to pick up the bouquet of flowers that was delicately arranged on her side of the car.
Mary gazed at the vibrant bouquet, her eyes lighting up with a smile gracing her face. The combination of roses, lilies, and tulips created a colorful and visually pleasing arrangement.
"Thank you for this," Mary expressed joyfully.
"I’m glad you appreciate it. I tend to be a man of few words, often failing to express what I truly feel," Anton confessed, taking a few steps closer to Mary. "So, I was hoping these flowers could speak for me, for what I really feel for you," he continued, his voice filled with sincerity.
Mary was overwhelmed by Anton’s heartfelt words, not expecting such sweetness and romance from him. "It truly does, Anton. Thank you," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude and affection.
Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around Anton’s waist, pulling him into a warm embrace. In response, Anton tenderly kissed her forehead, sealing the moment with a touch of gentle affection.
After their tender moment in the parking lot, Mary and Anton went home right away and were welcomed with a scrumptious dinner by Roana.
"What took you so long?" Roana exclaimed playfully. "I cooked for both of you, and I have some good news to tell," she added, a hint of anticipation in her voice.
"Sorry, Roana, but we actually had our meal at the office," Anton responded apologetically.
"Oh, okay. How about some dessert then?" Roana suggested, her enthusiasm undeterred.
"Didn’t you email me your report already?" Mary asked.
"Yes, I did, but I gathered some additional information after sending it," Roana explained, which piqued their interest.
Intrigued by Roana’s words, both Anton and Mary took their seats at the dining table, eagerly anticipating the dessert Roana had prepared.
As Roana began recounting what she had witnessed before leaving the office, Mary and Anton listened attentively. Her revelation left them surprised and contemplating their next steps.
"Should we inform Josephine about our suspicions regarding Kevin and the plane crash?" Mary inquired with Anton.
"No, we shouldn’t inform Josephine about our suspicions. Let them continue what they are doing," Anton stated decisively, making his position clear to both Mary and Roana.
"Considering their prior connection before joining Bellory, we can’t be certain which side she is on," he explained. "For now, it’s crucial that we maintain silence and keep everything confidential," he emphasized, urging both ladies to refrain from discussing the matter further.
As Mary savored the dessert, Anton excused himself first to clean up before retiring to bed, leaving Roana and Mary alone in the room.
Roana wasted no time in breaking the silence, sharing her news. "Uhm... I found an apartment. Hopefully, I can move in this weekend," she revealed.
Mary paused mid-bite, a tinge of guilt washing over her. "Roana, I won’t apologize for my previous actions, but I want you to know that I genuinely appreciate what you’re doing for Amy and Henry. Please understand that I hold no hatred towards you," she expressed sincerely, wanting to express her gratitude and ease any lingering tension.
Indeed, with a few sincere words, the walls that had separated Mary and Roana crumbled away, and the tension between them dissolved. The air cleared, fostering an atmosphere of understanding and acceptance, allowing friendship to start and harmony to flow between them.
Mary left the dining area with a smile on her face feeling satisfied with her renewed relationship with Roana. She was eager to inform Anton of her good news, knowing that he will be happy to hear it.
Sadly, Anton had already drifted off to sleep by the time she entered the room. Knowing that her good news could wait, she proceeded on getting herself ready for bed.
As she lay down next to Anton, his arm swiftly encircled her waist, pulling her close and enveloping her in a tight and warm embrace.
"What took you so long? I was about to think that you want to spend more time with Roana than me," Anton whispered in her ear before nibbling it.
Mary chuckled, feeling ticklish at what Anton is doing. "Of course, that’s not true. I want to spend more time with you, but I think me and Roana will be friends from now on."
"That’s good. And since you said you want to spend time with me... prove it to me," Anton whispered, resting his chin on the crook of her neck.
"How would I prove it? Aren’t we spending time together now?" Mary asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
"You can prove it by kissing me," Anton then gently turned Mary around to face him before sealing her lips with his.
