CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 184: Sudden Pain
Amy felt her lips turn cold because of Henry’s question. She tried to show him that she is ok when she is really not. Their situation was not the time for her to get weak.
"I-I just feel like I am coming down with the flu. It will pass," Amy walked back to their camp and forced herself to eat the fruits that Henry brought. She must get better soon, she doesn’t want to become a burden, she thought.
"Are you really sure it’s just the flu? Do you feel pain anywhere in your body?" Henry was persistent, she is his life and he will always be worried about her no matter what. Amy looked pale and definitely sick but she is saying otherwise making Henry doubt more about her current condition.
"My lower back hurts, just one of the symptoms of the flu. It’s just normal, don’t worry about me. I will be better soon." Amy then started putting the fruits she peeled into her mouth and tried her best not to gag while swallowing them.
"Alright, perhaps you just need more rest. Can you manage by yourself? I will try to get more wood so I can create a signal fire on the shore tonight."
"I want to help... Can I?" Amy stared at Henry with pleading eyes.
Henry was torn if what he should do. He badly needed help if he wanted to finish faster, but his wife is in no condition to walk around the island with him. He stared at Amy thinking of ways that she could help.
"Hmm... Maybe you can. You wouldn’t mind guarding on the shore right?" It was the best thing that Henry could think of. He doesn’t want her to feel useless for he knows Amy... she’s stubborn.
If he would not let her help him, she would definitely do something on her own to be able to help. Making her be on the watch on the shore will make her contribute something while letting her rest. Plus, it would be helpful in case their rescue pass by that area.
Amy’s eyes sparkled with joy and that help her feel more energized, "Really? Yes! I don’t mind. That is actually perfect! Let’s go!"
"Bring your scarves, love, I will take the pink float," Henry also brought some fruits that Amy could eat if ever she gets hungry while on the lookout.
The shore was just approximately less than fifty meters away from their camp by the stream, but Amy felt like they walked for more than one kilometer already. She was so tired and her lower back pain worsen.
When they arrived at the shore, she immediately laid out the banana leaves that they brought. She placed it under a tall tree that is visible from the sea and sat there right away to relieve the pain.
Henry tore Amy’s pink and yellow scarves into half, making them four pieces. He lodged some long branches on the shore and tied Amy’s scarves onto them, making them flutter against the wind.
He tied the purple scarf onto another long thin branch, "When you see anyone, run to the middle of those posts and wave this up," Henry then gave the branch to Amy.
"Understood, Sir!" Amy jested as she made a salute to him.
Henry chuckled before he kissed her on the forehead, "Don’t move too much, love. Please take care of yourself while I’m gone. I am really worried about you, please don’t make me worry more."
Amy kissed him on the lips, a short but sweet one before she nodded. She watched Henry walk away and waited on her spot for some time before she stood up.
She headed towards a young coconut tree and pulled some of its leaves. She brought all of it to her spot and started weaving them. She remembered doing this with Mary when they were young.
The farmers on their farm will weave the coconut leaves to use in making wooden huts or gazebos. They were just playing back then, copying what the adults were doing. She did not ever imagine that she would use the skill ever in her entire life.
Her weaving is not perfect, not even close to good. But it will work for now. It still can be used as their roof in case it rains. And she must hurry. She wanted to finish a lot before the Sun sets. She could only guess that it was already afternoon because of the sun’s position in the sky.
Amy kept on looking at the sea and sky to see if there are any boats or planes that will pass by. They are missing for more than a day but there is still no sign of help. She wonders what the are others doing.
Are they panicking right now looking for them? Are they worried? Does her family know that she is missing? Do they even think that they are still alive? So many questions are running in her mind but one thing she is sure about. The people who love her will surely become sad if something bad will happen to her.
Even though they are stranded, they are still ok, right? She asked herself with a hint of doubt. They have food and water, and Henry can make fire. What else could go wrong?
All they have to do is keep themselves alive and free of any disease until their rescue arrives. Is it that hard? She does not know too.
"Wow! You have talent on that," Henry suddenly appeared behind Amy, making her jolt. She already finishes some after a few hours of sitting there doing nothing but weaving.
"Don’t say anything about it. I know it’s not that polished, so don’t tell otherwise."
"I know, but what I mean is that this is not something that you do all the time, and for a beginner like you, this is already good. You didn’t exert that much energy in doing this, right? I don’t want you to get sicker than you already are."
Amy smiled and shook her head, "No, I didn’t. I was just sitting here doing this while checking if there are some boats that will pass by."
Henry then set up on the shore the dry branches, sticks, and leaves that he collected. He arranged it in a way that it will make an S.O.S. shape that is big enough to see from the air and from the sea.
"I will light it up later, the sun is setting I will take you back to our camp," Henry said.
Amy nodded and helped Henry carry some of the coconut leaves that she finished weaving before she followed Henry.
"Awww!" Amy winced in sudden pain as she crouch close to the ground. She can feel her body starting to sweat but feel cold at the same time. The pain in her back intensified and now her stomach is in pain too.
She doesn’t know what exactly is hurting within her since everything seems to hurt... a lot. She feels like her body wanted to expel something inside her that she can’t quite figure out what.
