CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 166: Completely Ruined
The two felt really hungry upon remembering the food waiting for them in the ice chest ready to be grilled when they reached the picnic area by the shore.
Amy and Henry decided to start grilling their food and not wait for dinner, it was late afternoon anyways. They don’t even need to assign tasks to each other, it is like their mind and body are connected and know what to do.
Henry started the fire to heat the grill while Amy unpack the contents of the ice chest. Then they both arranged the table and placed the food in the sequence in which they cook first.
Once the grill was hot enough, Henry started putting the seafood and beef in while Amy poured some wine into their glasses.
"Can you increase the temperature of that? The smell is making my stomach grumble. I think I am salivating already. Can you hurry, my love, please?" Amy blinked several times as she stared at Henry.
Henry on the other hand was like a young boy in love, who will follow whatever the love of his life will say.
"I will love... Just relax in the meantime I will make this quick."
"I saw some ripe mangoes earlier on our way here and I think I can reach them. I’ll just go get them for dessert," Amy waited for Henry to give his approval but he just nodded without looking at her.
He is taking his cooking role very seriously, he doesn’t want to mess it up in front of his wife. Amy took one of the picnic baskets with her and was happy that she was right. The branches with fruits were low enough for her to reach. They don’t need a lot anyways, so she only picked a few.
Not far from the mango tree is a young and short coconut tree and luckily it has fruits that are mature enough to have juice already. Growing up on the farm with her brother and Ash made her learn useful life skills and climbing trees is one of them.
His brother taught her how to use her legs and arms to properly climb a tree with straight trunks like the coconut. She removed her shawl, wrapped it around the trunk and used that for her to hold on to as she climbed up.
Just like what she did when she was young, she was able to reach the top shortly.
"D@mn, I am so dumb!" She scolded herself for she had nothing with her to cut the branches holding the coconut. Although, she can still get the fruit but it will take a while.
After a few minutes, she was able to pluck four which she had already dropped to the ground. She looked down to check if the coconuts didn’t crack or else she must get a replacement.
Instead of checking the coconuts, she noticed that there was something yellow scattered on the ground, which was not there before she climbed up.
Upon scanning the area below she realized that those were mango peelings, she immediately shifted her gaze toward her picnic basket and saw the lid open.
She frowned, those mangoes were definitely hers! Just how did that happen? She’s alone, Henry’s grilling, and no animal was there before she climbed up.
Her heart started pounding, someone is definitely there, with her but what or who is it? Amy frantically searched the ground below her and found nothing.
The coast is clear and she decided to climb down as fast as she could but halfway through the lid of the picnic basket shut loud enough for her to hear. She looked down to see what caused it.
"AAAHHH!!!" Amy screamed her lungs out, so loud that Henry heard it from where he is.
Henry quickly ran in her direction. He found Amy on the coconut tree hugging the trunk tightly like a koala. He looked around but saw nothing.
"What happened? Why did you scream?" Henry worriedly ask as he continued to search the surrounding area.
"L-Lizard, a b-big one!" Amy stuttered and then pointed her fingers to where the lizard went, "I-It w-went t-there."
Henry bent over and searched for the big bad lizard who made his wife shriek like a banshee.
He went down on all fours and looked under a bush and there he found the three tiny baby water monitor lizards feasting on one ripe mango.
Henry jumped and shouted, "Oh my God!!!"
Amy, who was climbing down the tree, halted and once again panicked after hearing Henry, "Did you see it? Is it still there? How many are there?"
Henry then ran towards Amy, "Loveee!"
"AAAHHH!" Amy screamed in fear again and was about to climb the tree again when she felt Henry hug her from behind and laugh.
"Ha ha ha! You are so cute when you’re scared, Amy."
Amy gritted her teeth and with all her might, she pushed Henry away from her.
"Not funny!" She then spread her shawl on the ground and place the coconuts on it.
"You should have seen your face, then you would agree with me."
"Errr, I hate you! Since you are having a good time there, carry all of those and don’t talk to me," Amy didn’t wait for Henry to rebut she quickly walked back to their spot.
Henry hurriedly picked up the shawl with coconuts and picnic basket with only a few mangoes left and ran after her.
"They are just baby lizards, love. And they are cute too, like you," Henry said as he struggle to carry everything while keeping up with her. Not to mention that he is walking barefoot against the ground full of tiny rocks and twigs.
"Then go, be with them, if they are so cute for you," Amy uttered before halting abruptly. "Ugh, what is that smell?"
Henry sniffed the air and instantly dropped everything that he was holding making Amy look at him. She had a quick glance of his horrified face before he took off.
Henry ran as fast as he can back to their picnic area. Amy ran as well and when she finally got there a burning table and basket welcomed her. The picnic blanket was gone and she was frozen in her spot until she heard Henry shouting.
"Amy help me, the butane canister might explode!"
Amy quickly took a handful of sand and threw it to the burning table. They have to repeat it multiple times before the fire was completely extinguished.
The two slumped on the ground catching their breath. They then stared at each other and laughed like a crazy person.
"We have to pay for it," Amy uttered and added, "This is so embarrassing, what are we going to tell the resort manager?"
"Easy, love... We are going to tell them the truth... We got distracted by three cute baby lizards who stole your mangoes."
Amy covered her face with both hands, she just can’t believe that their perfect picnic on the shore was completely ruined by those baby lizards.
