A nurse gave Summer Lancaster a routine check-up. Aside from some bruises, there were no major issues. The nurse advised her to stay in the hospital for a few more days for observation before being discharged.

As she was leaving, she couldn’t help but sigh in disappointment at Kenneth Yates.

"Kenneth Yates, you’re quite popular, aren’t you?" Summer Lancaster said, raising an eyebrow with a smile.

"Of course. Your husband’s a real catch. You’d better cherish me."

Summer Lancaster smiled. The man walked to her side and pulled her into his arms.

BANG! The door to the hospital room burst open, and Dominic Thorne and Ronan Jenkins stood there.

"Dominic, Ronan, what are you guys doing here?" Kenneth Yates quickly got off the bed.

"Boss, come out for a second." The three of them stepped outside the room. Inside, Summer Lancaster felt a surge of anxiety. She had never seen such a grave expression on Dominic Thorne’s face. ’Did something happen?’

「Outside the hospital room」

"Dominic, what’s wrong?"

"Sean Murphy has been taken hostage." It was Ronan Jenkins who spoke. Kenneth Yates glanced at Ronan. ’He’s probably more terrified than anyone right now.’

"By who?"

"Carls."

"His demands?"

"You."

Kenneth Yates froze. ’He wants a trade? What does Carls want with me?’

"We’re heading back now. I’ll go tell Summer Lancaster. You two head to the airport first. I’ll catch up with you in a bit."

"Okay." Dominic Thorne and Ronan Jenkins left. Kenneth Yates pushed open the door to the hospital room and walked in. "Summer Lancaster, something urgent has come up and I have to leave. You need to take care of yourself."

"What is it?"

"Business," Kenneth Yates said as he turned to leave.

"Kenneth Yates!" Summer Lancaster called out to him.

"What?"

"You have to come back safe." For some reason, Summer Lancaster had a feeling that wherever he was going, it was going to be very dangerous.

"I will!" Kenneth Yates ran out of the room, leaving Summer Lancaster alone, her mind a tangled mess of thoughts.

Kenneth Yates drove quickly and soon caught up with Dominic Thorne and the others. Then, they took a helicopter to Francelia.

Not long after, Melody Donovan arrived at the hospital. Summer Lancaster was surprised to see her, as she hadn’t told her about her injury. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"What are you doing here?"

"I went to your company to look for you, and your colleagues told me you were injured and in the hospital. When I got here, I overheard a few nurses talking about Kenneth Yates, so I went and asked. That’s how I found out you were in this room. Why didn’t you tell me you were hurt?" Melody Donovan sat down in the chair by the bed, her tone reproachful.

"I just didn’t want to worry you," Summer Lancaster explained quickly. It wasn’t like she had a serious illness; there was no need to make a big fuss and tell everyone.

Melody Donovan didn’t say anything, just stared into space. Normally, Melody would be chattering away nonstop, but today she was acting strange.

"Melody, what’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?"

"Lancaster, have you seen Dominic Thorne in the past few days?" Melody Donovan looked up at her.

"I just saw him a little while ago. Why? Oh, right, that day Kenneth Yates took me away... what happened with you two after that?" Summer Lancaster didn’t want them to get too involved. Dominic Thorne wasn’t someone who would commit emotionally.

"That day, we... we slept together. After that, I never saw him again," Melody Donovan said, lowering her head.

"What? Is he an animal? How could he do something so outrageous after only meeting you once?" Seeing the sad look on her face, Summer Lancaster truly regretted not having ruined their blind date.

"No, no," Melody Donovan quickly denied. "That night... I think I said some things. It’s all my fault!" Melody covered her forehead with her hand, a look of regret on her face. ’Will Dominic Thorne hate me because of this...?’
