Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Dominic Thorne, Your Romantic Luck is Flourishing

"Daddy, don’t be so blunt," Reina West said, coyly trying to stop Martin West.

"West, I’m already married," Kenneth Yates replied, putting down his utensils with a very serious expression.

The expressions on Martin West, Reina West, and Frances Taylor’s faces all froze. Reina West managed an awkward smile, looking at Kenneth Yates in disbelief.

"Kenneth, you... you must be joking. How could you possibly be married?"

"If you don’t believe me, you can ask my father. You and he are good friends." Even though it was Reina West who had asked the question, he directed his words to Martin West, a clear sign of his dislike for her.

"We haven’t made it public simply because my wife wants to live a quiet life. That’s all. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave." Kenneth Yates stood up and left the West Family home without a single glance back.

The house was brightly lit, but the mood inside was ice-cold. Reina West threw herself into Frances Taylor’s arms, wiping away tears, while Martin West’s eyes flashed fiercely as he clenched his hands into fists.

Kenneth Yates was driving home when he got a call from Dominic Thorne.

"Boss, it’s been ages since you came out for a drink with us."

"Where?"

"Vexx."

"Ten minutes."

"Alright, Boss, we’ll be waiting for you." After hanging up, Dominic Thorne glared at Oz, who was sitting beside him, roaring with laughter. Oz had told him that Kenneth Yates was married and even claimed to know who the woman was. Dominic didn’t believe a word of it; if Kenneth got married, he should have been the first to know. Oz had challenged him, "If you don’t believe me, call him over." And so he had. Dominic had even bet a vacation villa against Oz, who now looked absolutely certain of his victory. Dominic could only pray silently...

「Ten minutes later, Kenneth Yates appeared at Vexx.」

"Boss, hehe," Dominic Thorne said as he walked up, a strange grin on his face.

"What trouble did you get into this time?"

"Nothing! Look at me, pure and innocent. How could I possibly get into trouble?"

"Since when have you ever stayed out of trouble?" Oz chimed in with a jab from the side. Dominic Thorne shot him a glare.

"Hehe, Boss, this guy Oz here is spreading rumors that you’re married. Don’t you think he’s asking for a beating? He even made a bet with me. Pretty soon, I might be the proud owner of a new vacation villa. We can all go hang out there when I win."

"Dominic, sorry, but I’m afraid the owner of that villa is going to be Oz," Kenneth Yates said, a playful look in his eyes.

"Boss, seriously? For real? My brain’s not exactly firing on all cylinders right now, so don’t mess with me." Dominic’s mind was completely boggled.

"It’s true. It’s Summer Lancaster. You’ve met her."

"Boss, you... you really messed with me..." Dominic Thorne looked like he wanted to cry but had no tears to shed. Oz squeezed in beside them. "I’ll take the one in Palmana."

Dominic Thorne: "..."

"Boss," Dominic whined, "you owe me a villa."

"You’re the one who made the bet. What’s it got to do with me?" At this point, Kenneth Yates and Oz were just standing aside, enjoying Dominic Thorne’s little melodrama.

"Dominic, I have some good news for you. You’re about to have some romantic luck come your way." Kenneth recalled Summer Lancaster mentioning that she had a friend who’d had a crush on Dominic for years.

"Boss, I’ve never been short on romantic luck. Anyway, how did you and Summer even get together?"

"A business arrangement," Kenneth Yates said, taking a sip of whiskey.

"Oh..."

"But she’s a good woman." A smile touched Kenneth Yates’s lips as he thought of Summer Lancaster.

"Boss, don’t look so smitten. It’s ruining your cold and aloof image." Dominic Thorne had never seen Kenneth wear an expression like that.

"Get out," Kenneth Yates said, his expression turning cold. The change in tone scared Dominic into quickly taking a drink to shut himself up. Still, he snuck glances at his friend. ’He’s finally met the right person.’ Dominic was genuinely happy for him. ’He won’t be drinking himself into a stupor over Thea Shaw anymore.’
