"You told mum about me, about my... Speed," he said with a frown

"I... I," Alicia sighed. "I’m sorry okay, she asked me and I didn’t want to lie to her, she probably knew anyway," she said defensively

"And i didn’t even tell her everything, i only told her about how fast you were and how good of an opportunity it was," Alicia added

Henry chuckled. "An opportunity huh? An opportunity to use me," he said coldly, furrowing his brows

Alicia chuckled with frustration. "What are you saying? I only want to help you and i only told her because..."

"You were her little spy, weren’t you? You were to watch over my every move and report it to her," Henry cut her off

"Because she could help!" Alicia yelled. "You think I told her everything? You think I’m the one giving her information? Well news flash, i don’t need to. You have no idea what she’s capable of, do you? She can literally do anything," she stated

"So what about Xavier? What about your mum? Your aunt, huh?" Henry asked

"Okay I admit that I told my mum, but my aunt doesn’t know who you are, and Xavier already knew. I’m not at fault here and it’s not fair what you’re doing to me, it hurts," Alicia replied softly, she was genuinely saddened.

"Well maybe it is, maybe you aren’t supposed to care about helping me... to care about me. Because I know that in the end, I’m just a tool and this is just an agreement between us and nothing more, one you haven’t even clearly explained," Henry stated sharply

Alicia gasped slightly before bursting into laughter, but the pain was visible in her tone. "You know the funny thing, i was the one who found you in the hunting grounds. And I didn’t get any sleep because i thought that it was my fault, i thought that I had lost a great ’asset’ but later, i realized that it was something else. And now, I’m regretting it all," she muttered

"The serum was indeed untested but I would never hurt you. When you were unconscious, i took a sample of your blood and i discovered that the serum was incompatible with you. Apparently it doesn’t bond with anything, so it just mixes into your blood and after a while, puts a strain on your heart," Alicia explained and stood up

"Normally, it would bond with mana cells in those with abilities but since you don’t have mana cells and according to my algorithm don’t even have a source of speed, it’s like your speed isn’t an ability but rather a channel,"

"So that explains why the system said I’m incompatible, speed isn’t an ability for me, it only happens through the system," Henry muttered to himself, before looking up to Alicia with guilt. He didn’t mean to snap at her, and it pained him that he had to. But dominance had to be asserted, he didn’t know her true intentions and can’t suddenly trust her, Felicity was just a lucky gamble.

"I admit that i should have tested your compatibility rate sooner, and I’m sorry. My aunt is also sorry as well and she promised appropriate compensations. I came here to explain this to you and see how you were doing but i guess I’m not welcome," Alicia added and began walking towards the door, annoyed but heartbroken.

"Wait!" Henry called out. "How did you find me?" he asked

Alicia paused and chuckled. "You know that’s another funny thing, I didn’t. Godmother says, you think i placed a tracker on you. Well i didn’t, it was the little beast that found you. You know, the one you abandoned with me because you don’t care about it. Well it cares about you, because i was working on a project when it suddenly started acting up, and after a while it dashed out. I followed it using my jetpack and after a few minutes of running, it stopped near a pit on the hunting grounds, and there you were," she explained

"Axel found me?" Henry asked with disbelief

"Yeah, and you’ll be amazed at how much he’s grown, both in size and speed," Alicia smiled

Henry nodded and chuckled. "This is probably due to the soul bond, we can feel each other’s emotions know when one is in danger. I guess it was helpful afterall," he thought

"You know, maybe you shouldn’t push everyone away. I know it must be hard to trust us all of a sudden but we do care, and instead of thinking it abnormal and full of ulterior motives, i advice you just embrace it," she added with a sad expression, before tapping on her storage ring. A red dagger instantly appeared in her hands and she tossed it to Henry.

"Mother told me to give you that, she says sorry about breaking the first one and that you should feel better,"

Henry held the dagger up and inspected it closely. It was exactly like his former dagger, same length, same color, same design, but something was different.

Henry was stunned, he already had plans to buy a new dagger but he hadn’t expected Jane to actually give him an Epic grade type, they were too valuable and expensive.

"Don’t be surprised, have you forgotten her abilities?" Alicia said, snapping him out of his daze

"Uhm... yeah you’re right," he chuckled. Jane indeed had the ability to upgrade an items rank, the internet said her limit was Epic but rumors said otherwise, afterall she was one of the wielders of a legendary equipment... Actually two legendary equipments.

"If I had a power like that, I’ll be really rich," Henry stated

"Yeah I thought so too but mum doesn’t like to monopolize her abilities, she says it even takes a toll on her to permanently upgrade a weapon," Alicia explained. "And besides, she’s pretty rich already," she laughed slightly

Henry chuckled as well, he knew that too. Jane was ranked no.8 in the world’s richest and her guild was the most expensive guild in the world.

"Alright I should leave now, godmother said she’s training you already, and preparing you for the academy exams, that’s good, It’s what i wanted. I won’t bother you anymore, so there’s no need for us to contact again, besides i have to prepare for the exams as well," Alicia added and continued walking to the door

Heenry was shocked. "Just like that? Are you saying that the agreement is over?" he asked

Alicia smiled wryly. "Maybe, maybe not. I never planned to tell anyone before, and i still don’t plan to. But right now i have to think of how i would face the challenges... Without you," she said softly, pain visible in her voice.

Henry felt his heart ache, he didn’t mean to hurt her. Infact it was the exact opposite, he truly admired and cared about Alicia, but it was kinda late now, the damage had been done and it was all his fault.

"It was fun hanging out with you Henry, anytime I’m feel like blackmailing-ish, i would contact you," she said with a smile which caused both her and Henry to laugh.

"I’ll have Axel delivered to you tomorrow," she added, but Henry quickly shook his head.

"No, you keep him. You deserve him more than i do," he smiled. Even with everything he had said to Alicia, she still managed to crack a joke and make both of them laugh, it was proof that they were the perfect companions. She was perfect (Henry’s words, not mine)

"Okay, i will, i promise," she replied and opened the door. "Alicia!" She was walking out of the room when Henry called out to her.

Alicia turned to face him. "Yes," she answered

"Good luck with the exams," he said softly

Alicia smiled. "You too, and do take care of yourself, Henry," she winked and left the room completely, leaving Henry to his guilt and regret.

Henry sighed and fell back on the bed, he wanted to say more to her, to say sorry, but he couldn’t bring him to do it. He even swore that he saw Alicia’s eye tear up for a split second, when they were still talking. He had fucked up, and now, probably lost the only person that truly liked him.

Felicity sat in the dining room, scrolling through some documents on her bracelet holographic screen. She occasionally took a sip from her cup of tea and a bite from the toast placed in front of her. She was wearing her usual tracksuit and her hair was tied into a ponytail.

After a few minutes, she closed the bracelet interface and looked around for a familiar little boy but he was nowhere to be found

"Wallace," she muttered softly, and the old man entered the room, he had heard her soft call clearly and arrived almost immediately

"Yes, mistress Jade," he said

"Where’s Henry? Don’t tell me he’s sleeping in, again," she furrowed her eyebrows

"Actually, he’s awake. But he has refused to come out of his room, ever since the young mistress Alicia left yesterday," Wallace explained

Felicity nodded in understanding. "Oh, i see what’s going on," she sighed."Okay thank you Wallace, you may leave," she replied and Wallace bowed before leaving the room

"Oh Henry, why did it have to be that emotion you discover first," she sighed before standing up to leave the dining room.
