Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 59: Game of Thoughts
Henry sat on a large bed in a luxurious room, holding a gold card that shone in the moonlight, a wide grin plastered on his face as he read the numbers written at the top corner of it.
[1000,000AC]
"Honestly, maybe I was a bit judgmental for blaming you. Who would say no to a life like this," he muttered and stared at the screen in front of him.
[Would you like to convert the Alpha Credits into Shop points]
[Yes] [No]
"I don’t think this is debatable," Henry chuckled and placed the filled Gold AC card into his inventory
"Yes," he muttered. "But convert only half," Henry ordered with a smile
[Calculating...]
[500,000AC > 100,000Sp]
[Congratulations you have received 100,000 shop points]
[Shop points: 101,550]
"Open shop," Henry immediately commanded, not sparing a single second. The shop tab appeared and Henry quickly scrolled to the Consumables section and searched one item in particular. The item displayed in front of Henry as he smiled widely.
*Consumables
-Direct level up card: Level up once, directly without any exp or stress.
[100,000 Sp]
Henry’s smile broadened, he was tempted to cackle but he gained control over his excitement and took a deep breath
"This is just too easy," he muttered, remembered the events that happened a few hours ago.
*******
"Did you do something to me?" Henry asked, sitting on a chair opposite Felicity inside the igloo.
Felicity smiled. "I didn’t do anything, you simply just needed to let out all the emotions you’ve been holding in. And I helped you get through with it," she replied
"That was really weird, i suddenly became emotional, if it’s not her then my best guess is... Miley. But what i felt was really real, it was like she was... Mother," he thought
"Fine, whatever! Shall we conclude this discussion," Henry voiced out, crossing his arms and putting on a serious face.
"Sure, but first, why don’t we talk about earlier. Henry i truly care for you and it would mean a lot if you didn’t reject me," Felicity said with a sad expression
But Henry wasn’t buying any of it, he was too hardened to fall for something as foolish as emotions. But at the same time he couldn’t help but admit the fact that he wanted to have Felicity as a mother. Who wouldn’t?
"You even called me mother," she added with a smile
"I can’t believe i did that," he slapped his forehead. "But it changes nothing, i was only cause in the moment. Besides why would I want to have you as a mother?" he said with an haughty expression, displaying himself like a product up for sale.
Felicity smiled and leaned forward. "Why wouldn’t you?" she said
"Hm, i don’t know... Maybe because you sound desperate and I wish to exploit that," Henry declared without a bit of fear and this made Felicity even more excited
"Two can play that game," she muttered to herself
"Well thing is my Emily is no longer a teenager... Or so she claims and now she is getting detached from poor me. She even threatened to move out when she’s 21," she voiced out in a sorrowful expression. Her eyes tearing up.
Henry stared at her pitiful expression, he suddenly felt compassionate and was even feeling the urge to cuddle her and agree to her request. But his years of training didn’t fail him
"Why should I care? If I become your son, I’ll just be the one suffering from your clingyness," he said sharply.
Felicity laughed slightly, wiping the tears off the corner of her eyes. "You are really entertaining, i would love to see how the other you is really like," she chuckled but Henry didn’t reply, she immediately gasped cause she knew she had trespassed.
"I’m so sorry, i just got caught up in the moment," Felicity said with smirk, looking at Henry who was looking right back at her. She was not feeling guilty in any way, she had rather scored a point
"Please don’t bring up the matter about releasing him, you saw my memories and you know why it’s a deadly game to play by letting him have control," Henry muttered softly. He wasn’t angry but was rather happy that he had someone to talk to about... his problems.
"Alright, i just don’t think it’s a good thing keeping someone trapped in darkness for a long time, it can be quite maddening," Felicity replied. "Besides it’s not my life, its your decision to make, and if it keeps you both alive then okay,"
"Thanks mu... Leader Jade," Henry muttered
Felicity sighed. "What would it take to win your trust, huh? Alicia did it perfectly and it’s funny how you two started," she replied with a chuckle
Henry was surprised. "I don’t know what you’re talking about, i don’t trust that girl one bit, i think she put a tracker on me. Just when I thought we could have become... Allies," he stated like a teenage girl complaining to her mother about how her boyfriend did something bad.
Felicity smiled broadened, she knew that she won this fight already, Henry just didn’t want to admit it. "Well I think she was looking out for you, afterall it was because of that tracker we were able to find you. And personally I think she cares about you, that girl of mine won’t go to that length for someone she recently met," she explained
"Nah, i think it’s because of the reason she’s helping and blackmailing me in the first instance. She has something she needs to accomplish and I think she requires my speed," Henry replied dismissively
Felicity chuckled. "Kids these days, it right in front of them and they don’t want to admit it. I wonder what Jane would think about this... Something tells me she already knows. Imagine my two babies as cute little coup..."
"What are you daydreaming about?" Henry suddenly snapped, interrupting Felicity from her little plan.
"Oh nothing, just thinking about how i would get you into the Mage academy," Felicity smiled
Henry froze, this was the final straw. He couldn’t fake it anymore, entering the academy had recently just become a goal for Henry to achieve and that was impossible without an ability. But here a beautiful and influential... If not the most influential person in the world was offering it to him.
"You can get me in?" he asked with a shocked expression.
"Of course, if we can train your speed enough to be better than every candidate at the exam then... You’ll be picked for sure. Technically they won’t dare reject you if they know you are my son sooo..." Felicity explained and dragged the last word, clearly hinting at something.
Henry sighed. "Of course, it was all just a trap. I was going to become her son before she can help me. Fucking... Ah, damn it," he yelled in his mind while Felicity sat cross-legged, smiling. She had won the battle before it even began, she didn’t live a hundred and nineteen years just so some kid can outmaneuver her in her own game.
"You know, i think it might be better to stick with you and learn a few tricks," he voiced out. Henry knew when to admit defeat and he respected people who had strength and made good use of it rather than oppressing others. Felicity only gained more admiration points from him.
"It’s just that, how do I trust you? How do I know that every display of affection you showed here today was not a lie? You seem to know everything including the system, which bugs me really," he continued
Felicity smiled and looked at Henry with care and pride. "You remind me so much of myself," she said. "But about trusting me, it’s really simple. Just do, believe me it’s safer that way. And I found out about the system from this celestial I know,"
"Hmm, alright fine! I’ll be your son," Henry declared with a smile. He was going to agree to become her son from the start, he just wanted to get some answers first. Henry knew Felicity won’t give up on trying to become his mother and he respected that but he couldn’t just trust her suddenly.
"It’s clear to me now, she just wants a relationship of attachment. Since she probably doesn’t have a romantic one and the only one she had for 20 years was already mature and in her rebel stage. She needs someone as an anchor and delving into my memories must have made her feel connected to me. And it makes me wonder what exactly her past was like and who the fuck is the celestial she’s working with," Henry speculated in his mind.
He had figured out Felicity’s emotional fault and needs just with the moment they spent together, but what he didn’t know was that she had figured he’s out as well, even more than he did hers. They were basically psychologists trying to figure out each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
