Caught in Affairs with Superstar-Chapter 1004 - 594: The Awards Ceremony
If someone walks down a red carpet once and feels as though they are the focus of the entire world, it’s hard to let go of that feeling.
This feeling of being in the spotlight seems addictive. Zhou Yun thought she was above such things, but when she walked on the red carpet, stood in the photo area and waved to the photographers, only to see them listlessly take a few pictures, she felt a bit disappointed.
Zhou Yun sighed in her heart: Zhou Yun, oh Zhou Yun, you always believed yourself to be transcendent, dismissive of fame and fortune, yet in reality, you are still unable to escape it.
She comforted herself that this was New York, not her main stage, and naturally not many people knew her. "Life" and "Behind the Scenes" were considered successful, but that was based on their merit as foreign art films, rather than absolute commercial success. The European and American media might not recognize her; even if they did, they might not be interested in her. From their perspective, she lacks starlight, and their audience is not interested in her.
But some people were surprised by Dior’s attitude towards Zhou Yun after knowing she was wearing a custom Dior piece.
Zhou Yun entered the backstage of the award ceremony and saw many celebrities she had previously only seen in films.
Many big stars, along with several figures already considered legends by Zhou Yun.
Zhou Yun walked among them. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Zhou Lan joined her and led her to meet Shi Luoqi and Xue Qin.
Xue Qin was chatting with director Spielberg.
Although Zhou Yun knew she’d see Spielberg here, actually seeing him in person was something else entirely.
Zhou Yun liked many directors, but genuinely admired only a few.
Spielberg counts as one.
He is highly prolific and consistently excellent.
Zhou Yun enjoys his films because, regardless of the genre, they never feel stagnant or pedestrian. You can always see innovation and breakthroughs in his work.
Furthermore, he often expresses humanistic philosophy in his films, which is rare in American cinema.
Spielberg saw Zhou Yun and surprisingly called out "Yun" with a broad smile, saying, "I was just discussing you with Xue Qin; it’s great to meet you. I’ve watched ’Life’ and ’Behind the Scenes’ and wanted to get to know you."
Zhou Yun felt flattered and, after hugging Spielberg, said, "Hello, Spielberg, I’ve always wanted to meet you too."
Spielberg displayed a childlike smile, saying, "That’s great."
Spielberg then asked, "I heard you’re going to make a film about Mélando next?"
Zhou Yun nodded, saying, "Yes."
"Then you’ll be in the United States for a while, right? Or is the film not shooting in the U.S.?" Spielberg asked.
Zhou Yun replied, "I don’t know yet, haven’t been notified."
"If you’re going to be in the U.S. for a while, I’d like to invite you to visit my company," Spielberg said with a smile. "I enjoy making friends with talented young actors."
Zhou Yun was even more flattered, unsure why director Spielberg was so enthusiastic toward her.
"Sure, it would be my honor. If possible, I’d love to exchange phone numbers with you," Zhou Yun asked, "or email addresses."
These days, she’s found that many people communicate through email.
Director Spielberg gladly nodded in agreement.
After Spielberg was pulled away by others, Xue Qin told Zhou Yun, "He just expressed how much he liked your performances in the two films and wants to find an opportunity to work on a project with you."
Zhou Yun smiled and said, "Really?"
"Yes." Xue Qin nodded, "Otherwise, why would he invite you to visit his company? But directors like him have so many projects that no one knows which one he’ll prioritize. There could be hundreds of actors in Hollywood he’s said he wanted to work with."
Zhou Yun, hearing that large number, didn’t feel disappointed.
An actor like her being noticed and extended an olive branch by a director isn’t unusual.
But a director like Spielberg extending so many olive branches isn’t unusual either.
Ultimately, it’s all about timing and whether there’s a chance to collaborate.
