CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 307: Connection Connections
The black cat sat in front of the motorcycle, feeling the wind on his face as they stopped at a coffee shop.
Sae was already waiting for Selina. She waved at her joyfully.
"You came, Selina!"
The goth girl parked the bike and walked up to the Student President.
"I hope I haven’t kept you waiting for too long." Selina smiled. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Of course not, girl!" Sae slipped her hand into Selina’s arm and pulled her into the shop.
She glanced over the black cat on Selina’s shoulder.
"That must be the famous Mater."
The black cat hissed at her.
"Oh, spicy!"
Selina chuckled, "That’s him. My little emperor."
When Sae turned away, Mater activated his Octagram Chaos Eyes and scanned Sae.
This woman was not simple. She was already a Peak Hazard Psychic. Give her a few more years and she shall become a Disaster.
’Very formidable. She has the same rank as the leader of the Syndicate.’
Sae’s skin crawled as she felt a gaze on her. A very dangerous gaze. The President snapped her head toward Mater.
The black cat had already deactivated his Chaos Eyes and returned to being a normal feline.
Sae squinted her eyes. Not many people could make her feel like that.
’Was it the cat? Or was it someone else?’ Sae scanned the area around her. That dangerous gaze disappeared almost instantly and she couldn’t feel it anymore.
Sae ignored it and continued on her way.
There were already a few people waiting for them.
A large man with wide shoulders and broad frame. A timid girl with round glasses. And a confident man with impressive posture.
"Hey, everyone!" Sae smiled brightly.
"Hello, Sae." The large man nodded.
"Selina. Let me introduce you. This is Ethan Mercer, a member of the Brotherhood. That girl is Carol Reed of Cyberspace. And that man with the straight back is Albert Zimmer, a businessman of the Syndicate."
The black cat observed the three strangers. Sae didn’t go into details of these three but Mater already knew how important everyone was.
The Mercers was a military family. Many high-ranking officials of the Union’s military were in fact Mercer.
Carol Reed, also known as the Black Dealer, was a notorious hacker before she sided with the Union and joined the Cyberspace.
Albert Zimmer. The Syndicate. This faction consisted of the richest and wealthiest students. It coincidentally had the same title as the Crime Syndicate. Some people even called them the White Syndicate as they tended to be perceived in a much more positive tone than the Crime Syndicate in Aeliz City.
’Many members of the White Syndicate are our enemies. Lalo is its member. Lucy is probably also a member.’ The black cat communicated telepathically. ’But you don’t need to be aggressive toward the White Syndicate, Selina. We don’t know where they stand yet.’
’Don’t worry, Mr. Mater. I know how to behave.’
"And this is the famous Dark Knight that defeated the Black Professor, Selina Isles." Sae finished the introduction.
The other three greeted her and seemed very polite. They ordered their drinks and started to talk about matters within the Institute.
Ethan was concerned about the current movements of the Union overseas. Carol talked about the newest items the Psychosmiths came up with. And Albert discusses the current market status and situation.
Then they talked about the important matter. The mid-term examination.
"Principal Graves has decided there will be five teams that can make the Triple U." Sae said. "The classes with the highest performance inside the mid-term examination would get it. He is thinking about two classes for seniors, two classes for Juniors, and one for freshmen."
"What’s a Triple U?" Selina said.
"Right." Carol adjusted her round glasses. "You’re new so you probably don’t know about it. It’s the Union University Universal. A country wide competition between Psychic Universities."
Ethan nodded, "The competition is an indirect way for the Union to check the quality of each University. The better you perform, the more funds and influence you shall have."
Albert was still typing on his laptop, his eyes didn’t divert away. "Not just that. It will decide how much Government Contract we can take from the DSI. The Triple U is very important."
"We can take a Government Contract?" Selina raised an eyebrow.
"You must have heard about Challenges, right? Those missions you can acquire from the school to earn ISP Units. Challenges can include Government Contract as well. But whether or not you can accept them depends on your commanding officer." Ethan said.
Commanding officer was just his fancy way of referring to the main professor of each class.
"I see. And how powerful would the NCEs in these challenges be? Hazard?"
Sae chuckled gently, "We’re part military compound but we are still a research facility and school, Selina. We won’t send our students to death. Unless you can prove to your professor that you can deal with Hazard level."
"Hmmm." Selina turned toward Mater. The black cat already knew what she was thinking about without using telepathy.
"Want to kill some wraiths, ain’t ya?" Mater meowed.
"That’s right."
"Well then. You can accept some challenges. I would suggest bringing the rest of the class with you. Maybe you will be able to further solidify your position as captain." The black cat meowed.
"I was thinking about that as well. I should talk with Professor Howard more about this."
Albert closed his laptop. For the first time, he looked up and met Selina’s gaze.
"This isn’t my business. But I have to make my stand clear.
From what I heard, there is a Syndicate member called Lorenzo Von Schattenberg that may want to cause you some trouble. I don’t condone this act but I can’t tell him what to do either.
I just want to tell you this to make sure that you know his action does not represent the Syndicate."
Selina tilted her head slightly. She didn’t think Albert would be this honest.
"I already expect it to happen. I appreciate your warnings, Zimmer."
"You’re welcome, Isles. Some people still don’t understand they shouldn’t mess with the daughter of a Phantom. Even if they aren’t here, a Phantom is still a Phantom. No one messes with them." Albert said.
Ethan’s face darkened. "A Phantom might not be directly tied with the military branch but we are still brothers and sisters. Whoever this guy is, if he causes trouble, the Brotherhood will not stand and let a Phantom’s daughter be harmed."
"The Cyberspace will also not wait and see." Carol said.
"And of course, the Student Council will exert the correct punishment if something like that happens." Sae’s tone was slow and threatening for a split second. The facade of a calm, friendly President dropped briefly.
Selina widened her eyes. She finally understood why Mater wanted her to join the Council. She already gained the support of many factions just because she was the secretary of the President.
Mater stroked his whiskers arrogantly. He didn’t say anything but Selina already saw the words ’I told you so’ on his furry cat head.
