Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Little Furnace

The girl’s body heat made him break out in a sweat, absentmindedly holding her, lost in his thoughts.

He gently reminded her, "Promise me, Claire."

Claire Prescott came back from her trance.

She still didn’t respond to his previous words, instead saying, "I want you to hold me tighter, as tight as you can."

Keane Lowell was momentarily speechless.

They sat in silence for a while.

He let go of her and slowly took off his suit jacket, then loosened his tie.

Claire silently watched his actions, her heartbeat gradually becoming erratic, "Why... why are you taking off your clothes?"

Keane’s movements slowed, as if guessing her wild imagination, but he didn’t explain anything, unbuttoning the first button of his shirt. He then sat down with her, letting her sit sideways on his lap.

His arm encircled her waist, fulfilling her request to hold her tightly.

The girl cooperatively turned, wrapping her arms around his neck, pressing her body against his chest, as if entrusting both her body and heart’s weight to him, wanting to reconcile like before.

No matter how much anger was in his heart, the moment she hugged him tight, it all dissipated.

...

The next morning.

Keane had just come down from the second floor and heard the girl’s voice conversing with the mechanical dog.

Her gentle, delicate voice echoed in the living room, adding a light cheer to the whole villa.

After just a few days of sleeping together, he had already learned her biological clock.

Each morning, the girl would always wake up two or three minutes before him.

Whenever she awoke, she would always stare at his sleeping face, watching without tiring for two or three minutes. Once he opened his eyes, she would get off him and head into the bathroom, closing the door to wash up.

As he reached the last step, a thin white silhouette appeared in his view.

Today, she dressed lightly.

Among all the clothes prepared for her, she chose a short skirt that barely reached her knees, exposing skin as white as the first snow, tender enough to hold one’s gaze.

But then again.

The girl was full of vitality, her whole body like a furnace. Last night, when she pounced on him, it only took a moment for him to break a sweat.

He walked over to her and naturally took her hands before she turned around, leaning down to kiss her lips.

A gentle kiss.

Feeling somewhat surprised, her eyes flickered, and her curved lashes left faint shadows in the air.

Claire quickly processed the kiss.

A smile bloomed at the corner of her mouth, and she looked at him with eyes full of tenderness, "I want to name this mechanical dog."

"What name do you have in mind?"

"How about Chloe? Like the color green."

The next moment.

Keane raised his hand, swiping a few times on the mechanical dog’s screen, opening up the keyboard and typing the name "Chloe."

Claire wrapped her arm around Keane’s, continuing to make requests, "Its exterior is a bit ugly; I want to give it a makeover."

As soon as she spoke.

The mechanical dog began to protest, "Master, how am I ugly?"

Claire replied, "The exterior, silly dog."

"Another day getting criticized by my master, I need to find a place to cry~"

Seeing that it actually turned its head, Claire hurriedly coaxed, "Alright, alright, with a makeover, you won’t be ugly anymore."

Without much ado, Claire directly gave the command, "Chloe, open my recent browsing history."

"Okay, please wait a moment, master."

Soon after, an image webpage appeared on the screen.

She pointed to an image at the top of the screen and said to Keane, "I want to change it to this, give Chloe a layer of white fur, dress it to match its form, so it doesn’t look so cold."

It’s mainly because she found it too mechanical-looking.

Keane didn’t hesitate, "I’ll have Assistant Cheney take care of it later."

Claire smiled, "Then I’ll trouble Assistant Cheney."

At this point, Keane mentioned, "Have you told your grandpa about moving?"

Talking about family matters, Claire felt a bit troubled, vaguely saying, "I did, but it’s not confirmed yet."

By her calculation, her aunt should be released from the police station today.

She wondered how her aunt had reflected on her behavior at the station and whether she’d cause an upheaval at home as before, or worse.

But then again...

Her aunt indeed hated her, but at least she wouldn’t dare mess with her again. Claire’s influence on her future was significant, and her aunt had seen that she wasn’t easy to deal with.

"In that house, only my grandparents are my family. The rest aren’t. But these past two days, I’ve realized that just leaving by myself isn’t enough. I want to take my grandparents with me. However, they’ve lived in Sinclair Apothecary for decades and probably can’t bear to leave, and it’s not convenient for them to relocate..."

"So, I’m thinking of spending some money to buy a house, let my uncle’s family move out, so we won’t have to tolerate them anymore."

"Until I find a place, I can only temporarily stay here with you."

She spoke continuously, as if there were few secrets left between them.

Keane listened patiently, then asked in a low voice, "What kind of house are you looking for? I can help you find it."

"You don’t need to help me. I just want something a bit ordinary, far from Sinclair Apothecary, and big enough for them to live. They don’t deserve something too nice."

Keane brushed her hair gently, "Want me to go with you?"

"This small matter, I can handle it myself."

Claire turned around and hugged his waist, her eyes smiling as she looked at him, "With you behind me, even if you do nothing, I already feel at ease."

At that moment, Auntie Susan came out of the kitchen carrying breakfast and, upon accidentally witnessing their intimacy, Claire hurriedly backed away from his embrace, modestly tidying her clothes.

Keane watched her movements and expressions clearly.

It was obvious.

She didn’t like being intimate with him in front of elders.

However, he didn’t say much either.

...

Because she was busy attending to patients all morning, Claire didn’t have time to recall last night’s unpleasant incident with Zara Leighton.

By noon, during her break, she went to a nearby real estate agency office.

She sat in front of a computer, attentively listening to the agent introducing available properties.

Meanwhile, two female colleagues next to the agent started a conversation.

"You missed it yesterday; an old doctor came looking for a house, asking if there were any good options for his son and grandson to live in. He was quite old, with a head full of white hair. I was worried he’d fall when I took him to see the house."

"Was it the old doctor from Sinclair Apothecary?"

"Yes, I think it’s called Sinclair Apothecary."

"That old doctor is really nice, and his medical skills are excellent. He cured my child’s asthma back then. He had come to see houses a few times before but hadn’t found a suitable one. I thought he wouldn’t come anymore."

The young female agent speculated, "For such a legendary doctor, to have such a useless son and grandson, needing a seventy-something elderly to buy a house for them, what a disgrace..."

Claire shifted her gaze from the computer to them, asking, "Did the old doctor see anything he liked when he came to see houses yesterday?"
