Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Much Ado About Nothing

Claire listened to the man take his bath the entire time.

Later, the call quietly ended in the middle of the night.

When Claire woke up, her phone had already shut down.

After washing up downstairs, she saw Finn Prescott in the living room having coffee; she didn’t expect him to be home, nor did she know when he came back last night.

At the last flight of stairs, she suddenly heard him dryly say, "I feel unwell."

The three words popped out, sounding particularly abrupt in the space.

Claire looked up at him, "Are you talking to me?"

"Is there anyone else here?" Finn crossed his long legs, holding a laptop while sitting there. The deep black shirt he wore made his slender eyes appear even more dark.

Claire responded, "I take it as you whining over nothing."

"..." Finn gazed at her, eyes full of helplessness, "Help me check my pulse, I’m dizzy."

He indeed looked unwell, like he had stayed up all night.

Claire hesitated for a moment, but finally went over.

No words were necessary, as he naturally extended his wrist.

Claire placed three fingers on it, quickly identifying the source of his dizziness, "Staying up drinking and not feeling dizzy would be odd."

"Is there any way to alleviate it?"

"Acupuncture." Claire unexpectedly quipped, "Not really necessary, drink some sobering tea, endure through the day, and learn a lesson from it."

Finn moved the laptop aside, chuckled slightly, "Never heard the saying, healed scars forget the pain?"

"That’s called deserved."

"..." He was instantly speechless, "Is this how you act as a sister?"

Claire withdrew her hand, "Ignoring medical advice harms you; last time, the prescription I gave you, you didn’t drink it even once, right?"

Finn frowned slightly, "Tried once, it was too bitter."

Claire was speechless, mocking him, "A grown man acting like a child, refusing to take medicine because it’s bitter, not afraid of being laughed at?"

"No one dares to laugh."

She snorted lightly, "I see, the CEO routine."

With that, she got up and headed to the kitchen to find Granny Lee.

"Auntie Lee, is there any sobering tea left? Please make a cup for Finn."

"There is." Seeing her start to care about her brother, Granny Lee looked pleased, then remembered something, and said: "Last time, young master brought back a few prescriptions, I made them once, he drank a sip and poured it all out, there are still a few more left in the cupboard."

Claire frowned, "Let him be, when he’s old and unable to move, lying on the bed groaning, he’ll know what real bitterness is."

As she said this, she deliberately raised her voice.

Granny Lee was helpless.

The person sitting on the living room sofa, hearing this, had even less to say.

Thus, during breakfast, Finn proactively asked Granny Lee to brew the medicine.

And when the medicine was ready, somehow Claire had retrieved a handful of sugar, placed it on the dining table, secretly setting it down before turning back upstairs.

This scene was witnessed by Finn, who had just come out of the bathroom.

Seeing the hem disappear around the corner of the stairs, he came out, picked up the sugar on the table, glanced at it, and a smile spread from the corner of his lips.

In fact, it wasn’t the first time he’d seen her secretly doing such considerate things for him.

In the past when they were young, each gift he gave her would be thrown into the trash can right in front of him, until one time he found the meteorite necklace he gifted her retrieved from the trash and hidden under her pillow in her room.

At that moment, he realized she didn’t despise him as much; it was her own emotional wall she couldn’t break through.

So he continued waiting, waiting for the moment she would come to terms.

Now he could feel that the wall had loosened a bit, at least not like before where she wouldn’t say a single extra word to him.

...

In the afternoon, their grandparents asked the siblings to visit the old residence.

Apparently, guests were visiting.

Right after they arrived home, a maid came to deliver the message.

Followed by leading the group inside.

The Lancaster Family had arrived. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Ethan Lancaster, his mother and cousin, Yvonne Lancaster.

The atmosphere at home instantly warmed up, Claire shifted to a corner, watching them silently, trying to minimize her presence.

Just then, grandma called her over, seating her beside the Lancasters, introducing, "This is my granddaughter, Claire, currently in Kystral studying traditional medicine with her grandfather."

"Hello, Mrs. Lancaster." Claire greeted politely.

Mrs. Lancaster looked at her kindly, eyes holding some admiration, each word was a formal pleasantry.

In truth, the relationship between the two families was just good among the elders.

As for the younger generation, it was just for appearances.

As a result, after a round of lively chat, Claire heard Yvonne talking behind her in the backyard, badmouthing her over the phone.

"The Prescott’s heiress isn’t all that, doesn’t look as good as Faye, doesn’t have Faye’s figure. I don’t know why Ethan chose her over you, I can’t understand why you and Ethan were so good together, then suddenly split, and kept it from me for so long."

"Anyway, Faye, no matter what, I’ll be on your side. I will definitely talk to Ethan."

After the call ended, she turned and saw the person behind her.

Yvonne jumped in shock but quickly recovered, looking at her with a scrutinizing gaze, sneered, "Is the Prescott so lacking in manners, eavesdropping on phone calls?"

"Miss Lancaster might have forgotten, this is my home, I can be wherever I want, you’re speaking ill of me in my home, if we’re talking about manners, it’s you who lacks them."

"You..." Yvonne was livid, fiercely biting her lip, "Since you’ve already heard, I’ll tell you straight up. You should know Faye Lynn, she’s the top socialite in Valoria, also my brother’s ex-girlfriend, the one he can never forget, don’t even think about getting close to him."

"If they’re exes, and still have feelings, why don’t they get back together?" Claire asked earnestly.

This managed to stump Yvonne, stammering, "Getting back together... requires time. In the meantime, don’t think of coming between them."

"I haven’t thought of intervening." Claire’s tone carried a bit of disdain.

As she thought, she lay down on the wicker chair in the yard, gazing at the clouds.

Seeing her leisurely lying there contemplating, Yvonne was instantly dissatisfied, "Hey, you aren’t thinking of taking advantage of the situation are you?"

Claire glanced at her lightly, asking, "Why did they break up?"

Yvonne was instantly at a loss for words, not expecting her to ask so bluntly, "I... Why should I tell you?"

"Forget it then."

"I think you’re scheming against my brother."

"Miss, let me clarify, if I were interested in your brother, would I refuse the marriage alliance? Use your brain, okay?"

"Are you saying I have no brain?"

Claire really didn’t know what she was fussing about; from the moment she entered, she felt her inexplicable hostility.

If it’s about refusing the marriage, standing up for her brother, she could understand, but this one was peculiar.

"What exactly did Faye Lynn fill your head with?"
