Chapter 717: Glowing Pearl

By the time the intense and passionate intercourse in the car subsided, the night sky had completely unfolded its dark canvas.

Once again, Mu Yuze passed out from exhaustion. His naked body, bearing a renewed wave of fervent marks and hickeys, curled into the Alpha’s protective embrace in a dependent gesture, their legs still intertwined together.

Surrounded by the intimate blend of their pheromones and the lingering musty scent of their lovemaking, with the Alpha transmitting wave after wave of reassurance to him, Mu Yuze drifted off into a deep slumber with a peace of mind.

Surprisingly, he dreamed.

It was both a vivid and surreal dream. He found himself standing in an expansive meadow, surrounded by lush greenery. The grass felt soft and gentle beneath his bare feet, warm sunshine enveloped him akin to a loving embrace, and a gentle breeze played with his hair. He looked around but found nary a person in sight.

In this peaceful and breathtaking landscape, only he alone existed.

All of a sudden, a dark and colossal shadow loomed over him. He instinctively raised his head, his eyes widening in shock and astonishment as his mind registered the unbelievable sight.

A dragon!

A majestic azure dragon soared freely through the sky, its enormous and resplendent scales glittering brilliantly under the sun’s rays. Mu Yuze stood frozen in awe, utterly mesmerized by the elegance and ease oozing from every inch of that huge body. He couldn’t take his eyes off the mythical creature, and it took him a while to notice that the azure dragon was not alone.

It was accompanied by another smaller dragon. The color of its scales were not as bold and striking, yet it carried its own gentle and refined charm.

Gliding through the white fluffy clouds, they appeared carefree and unrestrained. However, Mu Yuze keenly noticed that something was amiss with the smaller dragon. Its pace slowed down, and it struggled to keep up with the other. Yet the azure dragon failed to notice its predicament, and their distance gradually grew larger and larger.

Until at one critical moment, the smaller dragon abruptly lost its strength and plummeted from the sky!

Mu Yuze’s pupils dilated, and he unconsciously took off running, his arms outstretched to catch the falling creature. He was chiding himself inside his mind, for how could a human possibly catch a dragon?! It would be a miracle if his body did not get crushed into meat pies!

But alas, there seemed to be an invisible force propelling his body forward, telling him that he could do this.

Only he could do this.

Mu Yuze continued to run with his gaze fixated on the smaller dragon. As if a miracle was truly happening, its colossal body shrank as it fell, and when Mu Yuze caught it before it could crash to the ground, it fit perfectly into his arms as if that’s how things were supposed to be.

"A–Are you okay?" Mu Yuze inquired with concern.

Up close, he could see that the dragon’s body was riddled with injuries, and it appeared so thin and weak that it was distressing. However, what gripped Mu Yuze’s attention were its two silver orbs, gazing at him with such grief and sadness that it sent a pang of sharp ache into his heart.

"Is there anything I can do for you?" He blurted out. He had no idea why he felt so compelled to help. There was just something so familiar and heartrending about those eyes he couldn’t quite place, like a distant memory he struggled to recall. One thing for certain – he just couldn’t leave it alone.

The dragon’s body spasmed as if it was experiencing an indescribable torment. And then under Mu Yuze’s anxious gaze, it spat out a round pearl glowing with an ethereal luster, nudging it toward Mu Yuze.

Taken aback, Mu Yuze asked hesitantly, "This... is for me?"

The dragon nodded, its sad eyes seemed to convey a silent plea— ’please take care of it for me.’

Up above, the initially peaceful atmosphere turned dark and stormy, for the azure dragon had finally realized its companion’s disappearance and was desperately searching for it. Its colossal body weaved through the tumultuous clouds, radiating fear and anxiety. For some reason, Mu Yuze’s heart felt like it was being torn apart, perhaps because he could hear the azure dragon’s agonizing roar echoing throughout the sky.

A gentle nudge snapped him out of his reverie, drawing his focus back to the small dragon nestled in his arms. His nose felt a little sour as he nodded, saying in a thick nasal tone, "Mn, don’t worry. I will take care of it well. But..." he shifted his gaze to the azure dragon again.

What was he supposed to say to it?

The dragon in his arms also raised its head, gazing at its tormented companion. There was an unspeakable regret in its eyes, but in the end, when it looked at Mu Yuze, all that remained was relief and happiness.

As the small dragon’s eyes fluttered shut, Mu Yuze’s tears also began to fall. Its body gradually turned into specks of light, and no matter how hard Mu Yuze tried to hold it together, it slipped away from his embrace and scattered away with the wind, leaving only a round lustrous pearl clutched in Mu Yuze’s arms.

Why? Why did it hurt so much? 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Mu Yuze cradled the pearl in his arms as tears streamed down his cheeks. It might be a figment of his imagination, but he could feel the orb pulsating and throbbing as if it contained a weak heartbeat, its rhythm reverberating throughout Mu Yuze’s entire body, almost as if it was trying to comfort him.

Gasping, he pulled back to inspect the pearl more closely, but at that moment, he sensed a huge presence looming above him.

Raising his head, he found himself face-to-face with the azure dragon. Mu Yuze’s size was not even comparable to one of its whiskers, but instead of fear and terror, only incomparable delight and joy filled every fiber of his being as he gazed at the mythical creature.

The round pearl in his arms responded with another pulse, as if resonating with the azure dragon’s presence.

"Oh," Mu Yuze smiled through his tears. "You finally found us..."

.

.

Mu Yuze opened his eyes in a daze, the sensation of warmth coiling around his body still vivid on his skin, but when he blinked again, he realized that it was He Juan’s arm that encircled his waist.

A gentle touch wiped away the moisture on the corner of his eyes, followed by a tender inquiry, "What were you dreaming about? One minute you’re crying, and then you’re smiling."

"I..." Mu Yuze furrowed his brow, attempting to delve into his memory. However, the dream that had seemed so vivid earlier seemed to have transformed into a blank canvas of white. What was he dreaming about again? He only recalled that he had felt sad, and then relieved.

"I don’t remember," he sighed with a touch of regret.
