Chapter 707: Fourth Finger

"Xiao Ze..." was all He Juan could manage, at a loss of words.

Mu Yuze pursed his lips tightly, feeling a little upset. He knew that it was just wishful thinking and there was no way they could remain here forever, but... once they stepped outside, there would be so many things demanding He Juan’s attention – the Manipulator, Luo Xuan, the police and many others...

At least here, He Juan only had eyes on him, paid attention to no one but him, only smiled and talked to him. Inside this locked room, Mu Yuze could monopolize everything about the Alpha and hog the man all for himself.

It would be different once they left.

The more Mu Yuze thought about it, the more reluctant he was. Alas, he had momentarily forgotten about the existence of the bond, which conveyed some of his emotions to He Juan. Sensing his sadness, He Juan reflexively provided silent reassurance and comfort, his arms tightening around the omega.

"Sorry, Gege," Mu Yuze muttered sheepishly. "You must be tired dealing with all of my moods..."

He Juan bit down lightly on his earlobe in admonishment. "Don’t ever say something like that again in the future," he chided softly, yet his tone was firm, leaving no room for rebuttal. "I like this. Our bond. I really cherish it, sweetheart..." he brushed his lips affectionately against the bite mark on Mu Yuze’s gland, murmuring, "You have no idea how many times I’ve wished to climb into your head and glimpse into your thoughts. That way, I can know what makes you sad, I can also make you happy..."

Mu Yuze felt his nose turning sour. How could there be such a good Alpha in the world? Just when he thought he couldn’t adore He Juan more than he already did, the man always had ways to prove him wrong again and again.

He sniffled, "I don’t want Gege to read my mind."

"Oh?" He Juan arched a brow, curious.

"Then you will find out how sappy and mushy I am. I wax poetry about you every single minute of the day, you know."

He Juan was genuinely taken aback, not expecting such an answer from Mu Yuze – an ice beauty who radiated coldness from miles away. He burst out into laughter, joy and mirth dancing in his eyes. "You wax poetry about me?" he teased. "Why don’t we hear it now?"

"Gege!" Mu Yuze slapped his arm lightly, huffing and puffing. "Don’t tease!"

The two of them enjoyed leisurely time in the bathtub for a while before rinsing themselves. Sitting on the sink counter, Mu Yuze allowed the Alpha to pat his body dry and rub his wet hair with the towel. In turn, he absentmindedly traced his fingertip over the heaviest scar on He Juan’s chest that ran from the man’s right collarbone to his left waist. Although he had an inkling on how the scar on He Juan’s back came about, he didn’t have the slightest idea about this one.

"Are you curious?" He Juan questioned, bringing him out of his reverie.

Mu Yuze did feel curious. This was the Alpha of his dreams, after all. Even if it were just a minor scar on He Juan’s pinky finger, he still wanted to know the story behind it, let alone such a huge and imposing scar. However, he had no idea if he would step on a landmine with his words. Thus he could only tread carefully, "If Gege wants to share..."

He Juan seized his wrist and brought it to his mouth, biting down on the tip of his finger playfully. He smiled, "You can ask me everything."

Mu Yuze’s breath hitched. "Then..."

"You might have already guessed," He Juan began. "It’s caused by Luo Xuan’s katana. He used to carry around that weapon back in the day. It happened after Marius’ accident, he grew enraged because I confronted him about it and attacked me when I had my guard down." He did not tell how he had once torn at the wound with his bare hands, making it look worse than it was supposed to be.

Mu Yuze’s heart clenched in distress. Crazy bitch, he cursed inside his heart.

After hearing He Juan’s account of the secret experiment that involved mutants, Mu Yuze had a brief understanding of what kind of tumultuous life Luo Xuan had led. Sure, he had suffered a lot, but it didn’t justify his malicious actions!

His Juan-gege was such a gentle, kind and loyal man, so how could that omega hurt him to this extent? Not only that, Luo Xuan had also caused He Juan to lose his beloved little brother and nearly resulted in Mu Yuze being forcibly marked by others...

Mu Yuze’s anger boiled the more he pondered on it, and He Juan, who sensed his emotions, hugged him gently and caressed his back. "He and I go way back. We used to be partners, but now only an irreconcilable blood feud remains between us. Even without your accident, I’ve been planning to let him have the taste of his own medicine. However, he dared to touch you..."

He Juan’s silver eyes turned cold and hostile. "I will make him regret everything."

Mu Yuze curled his fingers behind He Juan’s back, his legs swinging back and forth. He buried his smile into He Juan’s shoulder, feeling giddy when he sensed the Alpha’s protective anger.

"Now that you put it like that, it makes me want to capture him as well..." he brushed his hand over the rough patch of He Juan’s back. "After all, it’s not only you who has a blood feud with him."

With the course of action set, the next thing they had to do was clear— leave the room and catch up on everything they had missed during their absence. Mu Yuze heaved out a loud sigh and reluctantly said, "Fine, let’s go out after this."

Amused by his demeanor, He Juan pinched his soft hip lightly, eliciting a soft yelp from the omega. "Let’s go out and take care of everything," he affirmed. "And after that..."

"After that...?" Mu Yuze prompted.

Withdrawing a bit, He Juan flashed a radiant smile and picked up his left hand, planting a promising kiss— on his fourth finger.

Mu Yuze’s eyes flew wide when he comprehended the meaning behind He Juan’s gesture, his heart pounding wildly in his chest.
