Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 681: Thanks To You
Click.
An almost inaudible echo resonated from the motionless gun. There was no recoil force, no bullet erupting from the muzzle, and certainly no bleeding hole on Ku Jin’s forehead. "Wha—" Jia Molei’s eyes widened in disbelief as he pulled the trigger again and again, but all the gun produced was ’click-click-click’ sounds.
Before him, Ku Jin burst out into a fit of furious laughter. "Good... very good. You really made up your mind to kill me this time!"
"You bastard—!" Jia Molei swiftly checked the magazine and much to his dismay, he discovered that it was empty! He demanded in disbelief, "Who the fuck carries an empty gun around?!"
"An empty gun? Do you think that’s what it is?" Ku Jin showed a lopsided smile, arching his brow in mirth.
An inexplicable sense of dread settled in the pit of Jia Molei’s stomach, and the next words Ku Jin said morphed his expression into one of pure and unadulterated horror.
"Let me tell you the truth," he grinned. "What you’ve just pressed is... the bomb detonator! To be honest, I’ve been contemplating when to set it off, but who could have guessed that you would be so kind as to decide it for me? Thank you, Molei!" He offered a theatrical bow to Jia Molei, who was shaking in terror and incredulity. "Thanks to you, the whole building will explode in three— two— one—"
Jia Molei instinctively turned toward the emergency stairs where He Juan had disappeared into, leaving a trail of bodies behind him whose fate remained unknown. His heart almost leaped out of his throat, as he could almost imagine the explosion blasting He Juan’s body to pieces.
However, two seconds passed, and nothing happened. Instead of a deafening explosion, what reached their ears was the piercing wails of the police sirens approaching at high speed.
"...Hmm?" Ku Jin froze in confusion. "Why didn’t the bombs go off?"

Outside the building.
"The perimeter is clear," Ye Gu remarked somberly, dusting off his hands while eyeing the rows of timer bombs beneath his feet. He heaved out a sigh of relief, "Fortunately, we managed to defuse them in time. What’s our next move, Jie?"
Ye Qiu craned her neck, listening to the approaching police sirens. She instructed, "Leave them be. The police should know how to handle it. You should go back and reconvene with Ye Hu. Don’t let them catch sight of you. Nothing good ever comes from being involved with the police." Despite her words, she started to walk toward the east entrance, and Ye Gu hurriedly stopped her.
"Wait a minute, Jie. Where are you going?!"
"Inside, of course," Ye Qiu replied in a matter-of-fact tone.
Ye Gu was rendered speechless. "Didn’t you just say that nothing good comes from being involved with the police?! If you go in, they will see your face!"
"It’s fine." A faint reassuring smile graced Ye Qiu’s lips as she patted her brother’s hand. When he still looked unconvinced, Ye Qiu sighed and gazed at the weathered building before them. "This might only be the product of my imagination, but I seemed to sense XIU’s pheromones. That man will never use his pheromones unless absolutely necessary. I can’t help but think that something is happening. I have to go in and check."
"Then take me with you!" Ye Gu blurted out, earning him a mirthful snort from the female Alpha.
"And what can you do even if you follow me inside? Be good and listen to Jie. Ye Hu is waiting for you, isn’t he?" She persuaded him patiently. "You know his temper, he will have a hard time trying to calm Wu Yuan. Haven’t we agreed to take that poor and confused boy with us?"
Mentioning the teenager succeeded in convincing Ye Gu in an instant. This was one of their main plans upon returning to this country. When they heard Wu Yuan’s story and how he had almost been brainwashed by Luo Xuan, they knew they had to take action before the boy walked down a stray path. Mutated Alphas were powerful, and all the more reason they must not allow themselves to be used as a weapon to hurt others.
Hence, as soon as they received news about the explosion at Yuyang Hospital Center, Ye Qiu swiftly dispatched Ye Hu, the most agile and nimble among them, to sneak into the hospital and secure Wu Yuan before the police could get to him.
A few moments ago, Ye Hu reported his success and sent an SOS signal at the same time. As there was no time to convince Wu Yuan to go with him, he had opted to knock the teenager out and forcibly kidnapped him away. The said teenager was now lying unconscious in the back seat of his car, and would regain consciousness at any moment!
Wu Yuan would never trust any words his kidnapper said. Thus it was up to Ye Gu, with his gentle and patient nature, to enlighten the newly mutated Alpha.
He sighed and released Ye Qiu. "Fine. Be careful, Jie."
"You too," Ye Qiu said with a smile as she saw him dash off to the opposite direction of the police sirens. Taking a deep breath, she rolled her shoulders and took off running toward the east entrance. "Here goes nothing." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
A few seconds after her silhouette vanished into the building, several police cars screeched to a halt in front of the gate. The door to the first car swung open and Li Zhi stepped out, his expression as dark as the bottom of a pot. It was apparent that he was in an extremely bad mood right now, and the reason was none other than because of the disappearance of their two targets in the hospital!
As if being fooled by Luo Xuan was not enough, the officers assigned to escort Wu Yuan found themselves attacked by an unknown party, resulting in the teen Alpha slipping away!
To make matters worse, they didn’t even have the slightest clue about the perpetrator!
With a belly full of anger, Li Zhi scanned the surroundings and spotted two cars nearby, most likely belonging to XIU’s party. However, there was an unfamiliar figure standing beside the cars, staring at them as though awaiting their arrival.
"Hey!" Li Zhi approached the other person in large strides, calling out. "Who’s there—?!"
