Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 671: Surprised?
Mu Yuze’s consciousness returned to him in increments. First, he became aware of the aching numbness in a few spots on his body, particularly his limbs. Then the muffled sound of downpour reached his ears, mixing with the steady drip of water somewhere. He tried to move his body, only to realize that he was lying sideways on the hard ground, with his hands tied behind his back.
Memories of the recent events rushed back to his mind like a tide, causing him to snap his eyes open with a gasp. In an instant, he was greeted with the sight of the dusty cemented floor and a nondescript gray wall.
Groaning, Mu Yuze struggled to move so that he was lying on his back, realizing that his feet were restrained as well. His entire body still felt sluggish due to the lingering effects of the chloroform.
"Damn it..." he cursed under his breath, his voice echoing in the vacant space.
He couldn’t believe that he, a police officer, was taken hostage just like that!
He was already aware that not all moles were apprehended; some were still hiding under the radar, waiting for the right time to move. That’s all the more reason why he shouldn’t let his guard down, even if the other person was his colleague for years!
This time, he had been too careless!
How was He Juan? He should be extremely worried, right?
Thinking of the Alpha who couldn’t find him in the nursing home, Mu Yuze’s heart ached in distress, but he did not allow himself to wallow in the misery for long. He had promised to himself that he would never become He Juan’s weakness. With that resolution in mind, he exerted strength into his abdomen and managed to sit up with much difficulty, hissing when his muscles pulled on a few sore places. The skin around his wrists felt burning, and he was certain that they were chaffed now.
The first thing Mu Yuze did was to look down, and when he saw the familiar necklace still hanging over his neck, relief flooded his heart. Fortunately, they were not paranoid enough to remove this plain accessory on his body.
Who could have guessed that such an accident would really occur soon after He Juan gave him the necklace? However, this was for the best. With this, He Juan would be able to track his location, and all Mu Yuze had to do in the meantime was find a secure place to hide and protect himself until the Alpha arrived.
Confirming his plans, Mu Yuze scanned the surroundings with his sharp gaze and found that he was in a room of what seemed to be an abandoned building. Judging from the thick layer of dust covering the floor and the cobwebs on the ceiling, it appeared like the building had long been vacated. The door had also been dismantled, providing him with a glimpse of the dark hallway.
So far, Mu Yuze couldn’t detect any sign of activities around him, so he shifted his attention to the rope binding his feet. It was nylon rope, tightly secured with multiple wraps. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
He muttered another soft curse and surveyed the room with keen eyes. Was there something he could use to cut the rope?
He focused his search on the floor and walls, only to discover with dismay that the room was totally bare. Should he leave this room to search for something useful to defend himself? Just as the thought crossed his mind, a series of footsteps echoed in the air, causing Mu Yuze to freeze. He held his breath sharply and strained his ears to listen.
He did not hear wrong – someone was truly heading here!
For a split second, Mu Yuze debated whether he should continue to lie down and pretend to be unconscious or confront the other person head-on. But then, he eventually decided on the latter. If the perpetrator was someone as skilled as the Manipulator, then there was no use in pretending as it would only backfire on him. He’d rather be on the defensive than to allow the other person to approach him in such a vulnerable state.
Steeling himself, Mu Yuze struggled to get to his feet, gritting his teeth as he did so. When he succeeded, a sheen of sweat formed on his forehead and his heart pounded erratically in his chest, though he couldn’t ascertain whether it was due to exertion or adrenaline. Slowing his breathing, Mu Yuze shook his head vigorously in an attempt to regain more focus.
Soon after, a person’s silhouette appeared on the floor of the hallway, and Mu Yuze’s gaze snapped to that direction, his entire body tensed in preparation to fight.
The person came into view, stopping at the entrance. Mu Yuze’s eyes flew wide in shock when their gazes collided in midair.
"You—?!"

A plume of black smoke twisted into the sky, defiantly resisting the heavy rain’s attempt to quench the roaring flames engulfing the side of the hospital building. The fiery flames painted a vivid contrast against the pitch-black sky, as if signaling the blazing spirit of the impending battle.
Screams and pleas for help pierced the air as people scrambled out of the hospital building. Amidst the chaos, a voice crackled through the speaker, its tone hurried. "Attention to all patients, please remain calm and follow the medical personnel to the nearest emergency exit! Do not panic, and listen to the medical personnel’s instructions! I repeat, attention to all patients..."
Ambulance sirens wailed in the background as doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to transfer emergency patients in an orderly manner.
Meanwhile, in the VIP ward.
The lights overhead flickered intermittently. Black smoke seeped out of every corner of the building, and it instantly triggered the fire sprinklers once it reached the ceiling, causing water to burst out.
Alas, it was still not enough to fully extinguish the flames that spread akin to a relentless tide. In an instant, the temperature in the hallway skyrocketed as though itching to bake everyone alive.
Tak Jung-Hwa poured a bottle of mineral water over his head and directed the officers before him, "Our main priority is securing Wu Yuan and Luo Xuan. Three of you, come with me to Luo Xuan’s room, while the rest go to Wu Yuan. We will escort them out of the hospital first. Our comrades are on their way as we speak, so we have to maintain the situation until they get here! Pay attention to your own safety!"
"Yes, Sir!!"
Following Tak Jung-Hwa’s command, the group split into two, with Tak Jung-Hwa and three others hastening toward Luo Xuan’s room. Each of them covered their mouths and noses to mitigate the effects of the smoke.
"I suspect— no, I’m certain that this is Luo Xuan’s plan," Tak Jung-Hwa speculated, his voice muffled. "Prepare yourself for a fight. My instinct told me that he’s using this chance to escape from the hospital. No matter what happens, we must not lose him!"
"Roger!"
Upon reaching their destination, Tak Jung-Hwa noticed that the door was still tightly shut. He signaled for the men to follow as he took the lead to proceed. After making sure that there was no ambush behind the door, he burst inside and scanned the room quickly before his gaze landed on the lump on the bed with the back turned to him, covered securely in a blanket.
From his position, Tak Jung-Hwa could only see a head of brown hair, and the blanket rose up and down erratically as if the other person was struggling to breathe.
Oh no!
Without hesitation, Tak Jung-Hwa rushed forward and grabbed Luo Xuan’s shoulder, turning the omega to face him. "Hey, are you—" his eyes widened in the mixture of shock and astonishment when he took a good look at the other person.
His eyelids were tightly shut, brows scrunched up in torment and cheeks flushed crimson. His entire person exuded an air of fragility and delicacy. The moment the blanket loosened around him, the overpowering scent of an omega in heat blasted Tak Jung-Hwa on the face, causing him to stagger backwards.
"Agent Tak?!"
Tak Jung-Hwa hastily covered his mouth, his eyes turning bloodshot. It was only a whiff, but he already felt his vision swimming, and his Alpha threatened to break free from the constraints. He hurried to put some distance between them no matter how hard his instinct compelled him to pounce on the vulnerable omega.
Damn it, how... how could this be possible?!
"Stop!" He hollered at the officers who rushed forward to help, his voice almost a growl. "This omega is in heat, and... he’s not Luo Xuan at all!"
"What?!" they cried out in disbelief.

At the same time, in the abandoned building.
Mu Yuze stared at the person before him in sheer disbelief and shock. "You... how could you be here?!"
"Surprised?" Luo Xuan asked with an arched brow. Despite the obvious illness in his pallor, he was no longer clad in the hospital gown, but a three-piece suit with his hair tied high into a ponytail. His impeccable appearance was a stark contrast to Mu Yuze, whose face and body was dirtied from the dirt from his attempts to rise to his feet.
"I’ve been wanting to meet you..." the brown-haired omega flashed a smile that did not reach his eyes. "...XIU’s omega."
