Chapter 389: My House?

On the day when Mu Yuze was discharged, the weather was finally clear after days of thunderclouds and howling snow. A ray of sunlight shyly peeked out through the dense clouds and offered a gentle warmth to the freezing earth.

Mu Yuze was putting on a coat when a gentle knock resounded through the room. He turned to find He Juan on the doorway, smiling, "Are you ready?"

’Keep still,’ Mu Yuze reprimanded his fluttering heart that soared in joy at the mere sight of the man. He nodded. "Are you sure I don’t have to bring anything else?"

"No, it’s enough if you just bring yourself." He Juan chuckled and walked forward to stand in front of Mu Yuze, then he reached out to fix Mu Yuze’s crooked collar, causing the boy’s ears to flush crimson. "The car is already waiting for us outside. Gege still has something to say to Doctor Jia, so can you go there first?"

Mu Yuze nodded. Giving He Juan one last look, he stepped out of the room and headed downstairs.

He Juan’s smile faded as soon as Mu Yuze disappeared from sight. Turning around, he made his way to Jia Molei’s office and upon pushing the door open, he caught the grumpy doctor playing with the kittens, who immediately shifted his focus to the computer screen as soon as he heard the sound of the door opening.

"Fuck! You can’t even knock on the door now?!" He became angry due to embarassment.

"My bad," He Juan apologized without the slightest bit of remorse. This was not the first time he had caught Jia Molei playing with the kittens, though it seemed like the doctor did not want anyone to know his fondness for small and furry animals for some unknown reason. He pretended not to notice Jia Molei’s embarrassment as he took a seat opposite the doctor, his expression serious, "You said that you have a new update on Mu Yuze’s condition? What is it? Is there something wrong?"

Jia Molei paused. Not knowing how to explain it, he went to rummage through his drawer and pulled out a thin document, handing it over to He Juan who did not even waste one second to tear it open. What greeted his sight was a test result filled with medical jargon he could not comprehend.

He Juan’s mind had quickly gotten ahead of him as he came up with multiple scenarios, one was worse than the other. "Doctor Jia...?"

Jia Molei cleared his throat and he caught He Juan by surprise when he offered a sincere apology, "First thing first, I’m sorry for not telling you beforehand about this, XIU. But do you still remember what that bastard had said on the ship that night? About how he could confirm whether someone will manifest as an omega by fucking them once?"

He Juan’s grip tightened on the papers. Of course, how could he forget? Just the mere reminder of it was enough to make his blood boil in fury. Even as they were speaking, that bastard was still confined in Xuanlong’s underground chamber, barely hanging onto the thread of life because He Juan had not allowed him to die yet. He wanted to prolong the man’s suffering as much as he could, until he could feel the excruciating agony engraved into his flesh and soul as he slowly breathed his last.

Jia Molei scratched his head awkwardly. "Those words... they kinda bother me. Then I recalled that there is a newly introduced machine that can measure someone’s level of hormones through a blood test. So I pulled some strings and got Mu Yuze’s blood checked. It took a while and I only received the result early this morning. I fucking swear on my life, you don’t need to worry about the leak of information," he hurriedly added after seeing the sharp look He Juan gave him. "Geez, I entered a false information when I sent the blood over, okay? Nothing will happen to that brat!"

"So..." He Juan had no idea why his throat turned dry all of a sudden. He lowered his gaze to the paper, skimming through it as he tried to digest the words printed there to no avail. "How is the result?"

Jia Molei replied with a sigh, "His level of hormones are almost twice higher than ordinary people."

He Juan furrowed his brows. "What does it mean?"

"It means," the doctor explained with a somber look. "There is a very high possibility that he will manifest into either an Alpha or an Omega in the future. You have to be prepared, XIU."

"..ss..." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Boss!"

"Hmm?" He Juan raised his head to find that both Huang Zhiyan and Mu Yuze were staring at him fixedly.

The car had stopped since God-knows-when, but he did not even realize it for he was too occupied in his own thoughts. "Ah, my bad. I was thinking about something just now," he let out a light chuckle. "Have we arrived?"

"Yes," Huang Zhiyan turned off the car engine and glanced at He Juan through the rearview mirror. "What is your plan after this, Boss? Do you need me to be on standby?"

He Juan looked out of the window and saw that the sky had begun to turn dark. The journey to Yuyang had taken them more than six hours, with short breaks in between. They had driven past the city center to reach the residential neighborhood where traffic and noise pollution was less than urban areas.

"No need," He Juan said. "You are dismissed for today. Good work, Old Huang."

The two of them got down from the car, with Mu Yuze cradling a box of sleeping kittens within.

In front of them stood a two-story house painted in dark blue and white colors with a beautiful yet empty lawn in front, as opposed to the neighbors whose lawns were packed with trees, flowers or pots of plants.

He Juan took a deep breath of the fresh air and felt himself smiling. He turned to Mu Yuze and saw that the boy’s eyes were fixed on the house in front, a light flickering within the depth of his black-blue eyes.

He couldn’t help but reach out to smooth Mu Yuze’s fluffy hair that was blown by the wind. "This will be your house from now on. Do you like it?"

Mu Yuze was still unable to take his gaze off the cozy house in front of him. More than He Juan’s luxurious apartment, he found himself liking this place more. It was serene, tranquil and down-to-earth, as if he had taken a break from the hustle and bustle of life to take shelter in the little sanctuary.

He had thought that they were going to live in an apartment similar to the previous one, but it seemed like he was wrong. Somehow, it made him wonder if He Juan had chosen this house with him in mind, knowing that he would not be comfortable in crowded and noisy places.

"It’s beautiful..." he murmured under his breath.

Too mesmerized, it took one more second for He Juan’s words to sink into his brain. "Wait," he blinked and turned to He Juan in shock. "What did you say just now? ’My’ house??"

Ever the tease he was, He Juan casually dropped a bomb on him with a huge smile on his face, "That’s right, it’s a house under your name. Isn’t it beautiful?"
