Chapter 628: -Chapter 628-

Surprisingly, the three Mafia Kings weren’t on the other side of the door when Angelo opened it a couple of hours later.

They had been done with the class about half an hour ago and the unorthodox class was mostly Caspian taking breaks.

The beautiful Omega was quick to suggest showing off his outfit to his mate, excited about it even.

Lake and Angelo didn’t share his enthusiasm but they tagged along anyway. It had been hours and they left their Mafia Kings all by themselves - that was a solid recipe for disaster.

Angelo frowned, stepping out. "I left them here after I got drinks."

Lake looked around with concern, "They don’t seem to be in the gym."

Cora was uninterested in anything that involved a Mafia King, much less three. She calmly stretched in the now empty dance studio.

Her class had been lovely and it had also quickly taught her that she didn’t just have the mates of two Mafia Kings in her class, but three.

A quick search of the gym was enough to let them know that it was completely empty.

Caspian already had his phone out, quick to call his mate. Nikolai and Davian might be level-headed, mostly, but throw Asher in the mix and everything would be going up in flames.

Angelo and Lake turned to watch him, curiosity and expectancy in their gazes.

The call rang till it dropped, it made Caspian’s brows furrowed. If Asher wasn’t instantly picking up, it meant that someone was dead.

Lake quickly lifted his phone to reach out to his mate, a hand supporting his waist, eyes narrowed in disapproval.

Lake’s call also went unanswered, it increased the exasperation levels in the room.

Angelo previously had no plans to try to call Nikolai, uninterested in seeing the Alpha until he was in less dangerous clothes. But at the current state of things, he had no choice but to call Nikolai.

He got a response after a couple rings much to the others’ relief. A relief which didn’t last long because deafening music filled the gym as soon as the call connected.

Angelo had put his phone on loudspeaker and he still couldn’t hear Nikolai speaking.

Gradually, the music got quieter and quieter. Angelo didn’t wait for Nikolai to speak first, quick to ask.

"Where are you?"

"In the kitchen," Nikolai answered simply, "Are you done with your-"

Nikolai’s question cut off because Angelo had hung up, turning to the others.

Lake took the lead, walking out of the gym, "Davian and Asher might be with him too."

They could hear the kitchen even from the foyer, thumping beats of hyperpop spilling down the stairs. It only got louder as they got closer, turning the last hallway to see Nikolai standing right in the middle, staring intently at his phone.

He looked up at their arrival, cold gaze settling on Angelo.

"Is Asher in there?" Caspian was quick to ask even as he walked past Nikolai.

He didn’t wait for an answer, throwing open the kitchen doors. It suddenly got very loud in the hallway, covering up Nikolai’s response - if there had been one.

Caspian wore a look of surprise at the scene inside. Davian and Asher were wearing aprons and preparing lunch.

It made him actually pay attention to Nikolai for the first time. The Mafia King had his sleeves rolled up, wearing a checkered pattern apron.

The two in the kitchen hadn’t even noticed that he had opened the kitchen doors, loud music trembling through the floor and walls. They had their backs to the open doors and their amazed mates.

Angelo made to walk past Nikolai as well, curious about what exactly was going on in the kitchen.

Nikolai caught him by waist, keeping the assassin right next to him.

"Keep this outfit," He leaned in to say.

Angelo flushed, he had his back to Nikolai’s chest, the Alpha tangling his fingers in his hair.

He crossed his arms, turning away from the Alpha that surrounded him. "I’m not doing that."

Caspian had already walked into the kitchen going right to Asher’s side, his mate was focused on a heap of veggies. Even though he was right next to Asher, it was Davian who caught sight of him first, the other Mafia King turning off the music.

Caspian had already been speaking, "-sher? What do you think?"

Asher was startled by this, he had been about to look at Davian to figure out why the music had gone off, only to come face to face with Caspian.

His beautiful mate was smiling at him, stepping back to do a little pirouette to show off his outfit. "Pretty right?" Caspian urged, glancing down. "Maybe I should get something like this."

Asher still held the knife he had been using, swallowing thickly. He was torn. Greedy and selfish, he wanted to see Caspian in the outfut again but he didn’t want anyone else to.

"Yeah, maybe," He cleared his throat to mutter, "It’s real pretty," He added, voice low.

Davian hadn’t paid any attention to them since he turned off the music, gray eyes immediately sweeping the room, searching for Lake.

His perfect mate was standing in the doorway with a smile, and he didn’t know when his legs took him right over to him.

Lake reached out to adjust the strap of his apron with a soft expression. "Kept the music loud and missed my call." He accused, voice equally gentle.

Davian panicked for a moment, searching the kitchen for the counter he had ditched his phone on.

"It’s fine," Lake was quick to reassure him. "We were just worried you’d be at each others’ throats."

"We’re done so let me change out of this so we can help out in the kitchen." He said, already taking a step back before Davian could try to protest.

"Take it off?" He blurted out, appalled.

Lake glanced down at the flashy outfit, "Well, yes, I spent the past couple hours dancing in this, it’s sweaty."

Davian’s reluctance was obvious from a mile away but he choked down his protests. "You’ve been hard at work all day, you don’t need to help out with lunch." He changed the topic.

Lake expected that, but he had an ace up his sleeve. "Even if I keep my outfit on?" He bargained teasingly.

Davian wavered, his dark gaze dropping only to slowly rise to Lake’s face, contemplating hard.

Lake stabbed him while he was down, "I’ll hardly do anything, it’s more for company."

"Fine," Davian gave in, right away guiding Lake to a chair so he could sit.
