Chapter 615: -Chapter 615-

The sky had been overcast all day, yet it didn’t rain, not when they got to the amusement park, and not when they spent hours on the rides.

"We’re making a quick stop," Nikolai spoke up as he drove back.

Angelo was curled up in the passenger seat, quiet from overexertion. He had been brimming with energy at the amusement park, going back for seconds and thirds.

He hummed his response, fighting the urge to fall asleep in the car. It was sundown, but the dark, low-hanging clouds made it seem darker than it was.

Nikolai drove around for a while in the first district, stopping in the parking lot of what was clearly a high-end jewelry store. The bright lights caught Angelo’s attention, curiosity in his eyes as he tried to figure out what they were there for.

Nikolai got out of the car, and he relaxed, thinking that the Mafia King planned to go in alone. So he squinted his eyes when Nikolai came around to open his door.

He took the hand the Alpha offered him, reluctantly stepping out. Right then, he wanted a typical Mafia King Davian dinner and his bed.

"What are we doing here?" He asked curiously, looking around.

The 1st District might be right next to the Mafia Kings’ turfs, but it was furthest removed from their influence, taken over by the rich and wealthy, it was easy to forget it was a Mafia city while you made your way around the district.

"Getting some things," Nikolai answered vaguely.

Angelo didn’t ask any more questions after that, letting Nikolai lead him by the wrist inside the store. He looked around as they stepped into the air-conditioned interior, it somehow managed to be colder than the fall evening outside.

Nikolai walked right up to the cashiers manning the front desk, and they seemed to have been expecting him, an eager smile on their faces as they brought out a couple of boxes in a flurry of motion.

Angelo didn’t think anything of Nikolai buying jewelry, fighting the urge to yawn as he peered into the glass tables where the cashiers were stationed, staring at the expensive jewelry twinkling from their glass stands.

Nikolai approaching caught his attention, his hair wild from being let down all day. Angelo straightened up, cocking a brow when the Mafia King held a box up to him.

"What do you think?" He asked casually.

Angelo peeked into the box to find a thin band, arranged meticulously in the silk-padded box. It was a diamond choker, the simple piece of jewelry sitting unassuming in the dark box.

"It’s fine," He replied without much thought, focused on other things. Like how Nikolai suddenly got it in his head to get him jewelry on the day he snuck out. "Getting it as a gift?"

"Yeah," Nikolai replied with a poker face, taking it out. "For you."

Angelo wasn’t surprised by this outcome, knowing without having to check that it had a tracking device on it. "Thank you," He muttered dryly, reaching out to take it.

"Let me put on for you." Nikolai offered, holding on tight to the necklace.

Angelo didn’t refuse, turning around and pushing his hair out of the way so that Nikolai could access his neck. The diamond band was cold against his neck, the sensation strange for someone who had never worn jewelry before.

To the cashiers, their interaction seemed cold, but Mafia King Nikolai was beaming proudly, so they quickly stashed their opinions, waving them goodbye enthusiastically as they left the store, hand in hand, just as they had come in.

"Are those all necklaces?" Angelo had to ask as they made their way back to the car.

Nikolai opened the door for him again and handed him the entire bag that held boxes of jewelry. "They’re not. For you."

Angelo took the bag with a poker face, watching Nikolai go around the car to get i the driver’s seat. He gently touched the necklace around his neck, touched that Nikolai had bought him something so delicate, even if it was to track his movements.

He held back his curiosity and placed the bag down on the center console, curling up on the seat one more time.

They didn’t make any other stops, and more often than he realized, he reached up to gently touch the necklace.

Soon the tall gates of Mafia King Davian’s mansion were open to them, Angelo right away taking his gifts as he got out of the car. Without waiting for Nikolai to come around so they could hold hands like they often did, he marched right into the mansion.

He was curious about what else Nikolai bought, but more than that, he wanted to take a shower and wash his hair. He stepped into his room, placing the bag on the nightstand before reaching for the zipper on his shirt.

His door opened just as it was halfway down, Nikolai striding right in like it was his room.

Angelo had to look around, wondering if he had entered Nikolai’s room by mistake, but no, this was his room.

Nikolai was already halfway through shrugging his coat off when he caught his questioning expression. "I’m moving in," He said simply.

Angelo wasn’t as surprised by this as he should, taking off his shirt as he walked to the bathroom. "I’ll shower first." He enunciated, closing the door behind him.

Nikolai made a face when he heard the bathroom door click shut, his assassin didn’t even trust him again. It eased into a smile as he walked right out, leaving his coat behind haphazardly on a chair.

By the time he returned, Angelo was already out of the bathroom, drying his hair in front of a window in a bathrobe. Nikolai had already cleaned up in his room, shamelessly returning with his clothes to place in Angelo’s wardrobe.

He approached when he was done with that, casually picking up the brush Angelo had placed next to him like he did this everyday.
