Can We Say No to Divorce?-Chapter 589 - 355: The Thing He Most Wants to Do_2
Gu Yucheng nodded his head and then went inside.
Ji Su stood by the window. Even through the glass, she could feel the storm raging outside—the wild winds were unrestrained, and the torrential rain incessant. The number of pedestrians on the street dwindled.
She reached out and wrote words on the foggy window. The name Gu Yucheng eventually blurred and disappeared into the mist.
Was their love like this storm? As destructive as a passing typhoon, leaving behind nothing but ruins and disarray.
As Ji Su thought about this, Gu Yucheng came out, freshly washed.
Seeing him emerge, she turned her head and glanced over.
He was wearing casual clothes which made him look a lot younger. However, his brows were still marked by an undissipated coldness.
Ji Su didn’t speak; she didn’t know what to say.
Gu Yucheng walked up to her, "Did you bring your medicine? Have you taken it?"
"No, I..." Ji Su had forgotten to take her medication.
Gu Yucheng’s eyebrows shot up, anger flaring: "Do you think you don’t need to bring medicine just because you’re with a doctor?"
His sudden rage left Ji Su gazing at him in shock. He often lost his temper, and she would confront him just as fiercely. They were constantly at odds, never able to find peace.
In reality, she wasn’t a confrontational person. Wherever there was oppression, however, there was resistance. He had tormented her for so long; it was only natural for her to fight back.
Ji Su knew his words were always sharp. She genuinely didn’t want to argue with him anymore. If love was impossible, then she preferred to suffer alone.
As Gu Yucheng reached for his phone to call the doctor, Ji Su opened her handbag and took out her medicine.
Gu Yucheng glared at her. Didn’t she say she didn’t bring it?
Ji Su looked at him intently. She hadn’t said she didn’t bring the medicine, only that she hadn’t taken it. What was he being so fierce about?
Gu Yucheng also felt that his outburst was as senseless as the storm outside—volatile like the weather.
After Ji Su took her medicine, she felt a tad drowsy.
He didn’t want to talk, and she didn’t dare to.
Gu Yucheng noticed her hair was still wet, so he grabbed a hair dryer, plugged it in and started drying her hair for her.
The roaring of the hair dryer, instead of putting Ji Su to sleep, startled her awake while she was trying to nap on the table.
She felt as if she were dreaming, this man actually using a hairdryer to dry her hair.
If it truly were a dream, then she wished to keep dreaming.
Because one wakes up all too easily from a beautiful dream.
When Gu Yucheng saw the area at the back of her head which still hadn’t grown hair back, he remembered: it was the scar left when she hit her head on a rock...
How could he forget that she would rather die than let him touch her...
He tossed the hair dryer aside. Ji Su saw that he stopped drying her hair and thought it was because he found her scalp too unsightly. He Chenxiang had told her that the place where she had been injured might not grow hair again, that scar could be hidden by long hair, but if someone parted her hair, they would still see it. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Ji Su was aware it looked ugly. Although she wasn’t a national beauty, she had a uniquely attractive face, as pure and beautiful as a gardenia, and her figure was also commendable.
If he didn’t want to touch it anymore, she lowered her head slowly, pretending to do it casually, took the hair dryer herself, and finished drying her hair. Exhausted, she didn’t care that there was only one bed and just went straight to sleep.
She fell asleep, but Gu Yucheng didn’t feel sleepy at all.
Due to the typhoon, the seaside hotel was unusually crowded, and they both only had a standard room.
Of course, he was not sleepy either.
Outside the window, the storm still raged furiously.
Inside the room, apathy and estrangement prevailed.
Two hours later, Ji Su woke up hungry, her dinner missed and desiring sleep. Upon waking, the room was dark, void of any light.
All she could discern was the flickering of a cigarette by the window, and then she realized, was that Gu Yucheng?
How long had she slept? Why didn’t he turn on the light?
Just then, her phone began to ring. She rose to search for her handbag, but due to the poor lighting in the room, she almost stumbled and fell.
Gu Yucheng quickly moved to help her, and in the dark, his touch became incredibly sensitive. When he supported her waist, she shuddered slightly.
"Why are you so clumsy?" he reprimanded quietly.
Ji Su remained quiet, reaching for her phone, only to see a call from He Chenxiang.
Gu Yucheng saw it too. He was about to remove his hand from her waist but at that moment, he held on even tighter.
"Ji Su, where have you gone? Because of the strong typhoon, people got injured at the site. I couldn’t make it to the car in time, and when I arrived, you weren’t there..." He Chenxiang’s voice sounded worried.
"Chenxiang..." Ji Su whispered, "I’m fine, please go back and rest!"
"Where are you?" He Chenxiang was still concerned.
Ji Su didn’t want any involvement with him, so she said, "I’m home! You should head back too! Be safe from the storm today."
As she hung up, Gu Yucheng, seeing how softly she spoke to He Chenxiang, couldn’t help but comment sarcastically, "What? You don’t dare to tell him you’re with your ex-husband?"
Ji Su tried to free herself from his grip, but she was recovering from an injury and couldn’t match his strength. Even when not injured, in his eyes, he could do with her as he please.
His breath was scalding against her, and in the darkness, she trembled slightly. She told herself not to argue, not to!
Therefore, she just said, "Then I will make another call back, telling him that I’m with you, okay?"
"You..." Gu Yucheng hadn’t expected her to turn the tables on him. Frustrated, he pulled her in even closer.
