Chapter 772: Chapter 773: She’s Angry! You fool!

Chen Ming scratched his head, smiling awkwardly. He then closed the car door for King Jingyao.

The line of black sedans drove off, swallowed by the night.

Chen Ming gazed into the distance, then pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and slowly began to smoke.

Afterward, he turned his head to look in Song Jia’s direction.

Song Jia was chatting with Zhou Yunchen. When she inadvertently caught sight of Chen Ming, she quickly looked away, not wanting to see him.

Zhou Yunchen followed her gaze and saw Chen Ming. He then chuckled. "I’m going back to get a lighter."

Song Jia nodded, watching him enter the club once more.

At that moment, Chen Ming approached. Song Jia turned her head, pretending not to see him.

Chen Ming looked at her car, then at her dress. He couldn’t help but blurt out, "If the wind blows, won’t your dress ride up and expose you?"

"None of your business," Song Jia huffed coldly, completely ignoring him.

Unfortunately, just then, a strong gust of wind blew past. Her goose-yellow dress billowed up, revealing more than intended for a moment. She screamed, and when she came to her senses, she found a pair of large hands holding her skirt down.

Without thinking, Song Jia slapped his hands away. "What do you think you’re doing? Shameless!"

Chen Ming, however, didn’t get angry. "The wind is strong. What if someone saw you dressed like this?"

As he spoke, he carefully smoothed her dress. Still worried, he took off his jacket and tied it around her waist like a short skirt. The somewhat coarse fabric cinched her waist, making it look very slender... Chen Ming was momentarily dazed, staring blankly for a good while.

Song Jia tried to untie it, but he quickly said, "Keep it on. I brought a bunch of my guys over, and they’re all single."

She looked down at the uniform jacket tied around her, biting her lip. "Do you think everyone is as old-fashioned as you, staring like they’ve never seen a woman before?"

However, when she looked up, she saw about twenty young, high-spirited lads all staring their way, their gazes intense.

She was momentarily speechless.

Chen Ming, good-naturedly, said, "How do you know I’ve never seen a woman?"

His words, with their underlying implication, angered Song Jia. She turned, opened her car door, got in, and slammed it shut right in front of Chen Ming. He touched his nose. Her temper is really something else.

After a moment, he knocked on the car window. It slid down, revealing Song Jia’s impatient face.

She rolled her eyes. "What is it?"

Chen Ming rubbed his hands together and said slowly, "Are you... are you feeling... uncomfortable?"

Song Jia glared at him, and after a long pause, she spat out, "You deserve to be single for the rest of your life!"

How could he ask her something like that in this situation?

The window slid back up, leaving Chen Ming standing there, thoroughly rebuffed.

After a moment, the window slid down again, and a jacket flew out, landing right on his face.

Chen Ming held it, grinning foolishly.

Song Jia was getting impatient, her fingers tapping on the steering wheel as she wondered whether to call Zhou Yunchen. But just then, Jiang Chaoge emerged.

She seemed a little surprised to see Chen Ming, then offered a faint smile. "Chen Ming."

Chen Ming looked at her and greeted her cheerfully, "Chaoge."

Jiang Chaoge glanced at Song Jia in the car, then back at Chen Ming, looking somewhat puzzled. "Chen Ming, do you know Miss Song?"

She knew that with Bo Qing’s downfall, Song Jia, this beauty, was destined to lose her standing. What she hadn’t expected was that Song Jia was actually Zhou Yunchen’s sister, thus soaring back to prominence. She had even less expected that Gu Anxi, with such a vengeful personality, would have spared Song Jia and instead delivered her to Zhou Yunchen.

Now, Chen Ming was hovering like an eager puppy, clearly smitten.

Who would have thought Chen Ming, that blockhead, would have a day like this.

When Jiang Chaoge asked, Chen Ming scratched his head and said awkwardly, "Just ordinary friends."

Inside the car, Song Jia raised an eyebrow and then let out a cold laugh.

So they’re childhood sweethearts, huh? Just moments ago, Chen Ming was all over me, and now, in front of Jiang Chaoge, he says we’re just ’ordinary friends’? What’s that supposed to mean?

She ignored them.

Jiang Chaoge smiled. "Chen Ming, my driver has something to attend to. Could you give me a ride?"

Chen Ming was surprised.

After a pause, he slowly said, "Mr. Wang has left, and I don’t have anything else to do. I’ll go make arrangements with my guys. Wait for me for a moment."

Jiang Chaoge nodded. "Okay, I’ll wait here for you."

After saying this, she glanced at Song Jia in the car.

Song Jia paid her no mind. I’ve seen plenty of these deceptively innocent types. Isn’t she just trying to rile me up? I’m not going to get angry over a blockhead like him.

She didn’t even close her car window, busying herself with her phone.

Chen Ming walked over and knocked lightly on the car window. "I’ll... I’ll take Miss Jiang first, and then..."

"There’s no ’then’," Song Jia said without looking up. "Take whoever you want. I’m not your wife, nor am I your girlfriend. You don’t need to report to me."

Chen Ming hesitated. "She and I were neighbors when we were kids."

Song Jia looked up and said rather caustically, "You could be roommates now for all I care. But her sights might not be set on you. Don’t flatter yourself."

Chen Ming patiently endured it, saying good-naturedly, "Can’t you try to be a bit nicer when you speak? It’s better for a girl to be gentle."

Song Jia promptly rolled up the window, ignoring him.

Chen Ming, having been rebuffed again, touched his nose and chuckled softly. She’s always had this temper.

Jiang Chaoge asked very politely, "Are you pursuing her?"

Chen Ming laughed foolishly again. "I suppose so."

Jiang Chaoge smiled faintly and said no more.

Chen Ming went over to his men and told them to head home. However, they weren’t willing to leave immediately, teasingly asking which one was the real "sister-in-law."

"Boss, we saw everything just now! You gave her your jacket to wear as a skirt. That must be the real sister-in-law, right?"

"Go on, get out of here. She’s not even paying attention to me," Chen Ming lightly tapped the young man, adding, "She has a bad temper."

He then said he had to take Miss Jiang home and told them all to leave.

At his words, his men were stunned. After a good while, someone finally asked, "Boss, are you really going to take Dr. Jiang home? Won’t sister-in-law get jealous?"

"Chaoge and I are neighbors. What’s there to be jealous about?" Chen Ming chuckled.

The young man swallowed hard before saying, "Any woman would get angry if you take another woman home. Unless it’s your own sister or mother, that’s a different story."

Chen Ming frowned. Is that how it is?

When he turned to look, Jiang Chaoge was still standing there smiling. Meanwhile, Zhou Yunchen was just getting into a red sports car that slowly drove away...

His frown deepened. After a long pause, he asked in a hoarse voice, "So, she would get angry then?"

"Of course, she’d be angry!"

"Boss, you’d better go and appease her!"

...

Chen Ming lit a cigarette and was walking over, still smoking, when just then, a black sedan drove up to them.

Jiang Chaoge smiled. "My driver’s here. Chen Ming, perhaps I won’t need to trouble you after all."

Chen Ming nodded. "Alright."

Jiang Chaoge got into the car. He remained standing there, smoking. After a while, he got into his own car and drove towards Zhou Yunchen’s villa.

When he reached the villa entrance, the guard recognized him and naturally let him in.

Zhou Yunchen wasn’t asleep yet. He was sitting in the living room, flipping through a magazine. Seeing Chen Ming arrive, he smiled. "It’s so late. What brings you here?"

Chen Ming scratched his head, somewhat embarrassed to explain, and just sat down beside him.

Zhou Yunchen tossed him an apple and chuckled. "She probably won’t see you. By the way, weren’t you supposed to take Jiang Chaoge home?"

Chen Ming stated blankly, "Her driver came to pick her up."

Zhou Yunchen just smiled, not pointing anything out.

Some things Chen Ming has to figure out for himself. Besides, there’s no point in me explaining it now.

He patted Chen Ming’s shoulder and grinned. "Chen Ming, you know, you could actually pursue Jiang Chaoge. It’s obvious Mr. Wang isn’t interested in her, and you two grew up together."

Hearing this, Chen Ming was silent for a long moment before saying, "I did like her when I was in my twenties, but that was a long time ago."

"A long time ago, yet you were still going to take her home? Don’t you have any men under you?" Zhou Yunchen said just that, then stretched. "It’s getting late. Go home and sleep."

Chen Ming didn’t want to leave.

Zhou Yunchen turned and said pointedly, "Chen Ming, I can tolerate one accident, but that doesn’t mean I can tolerate a second. Let me be blunt: if you keep acting this clueless, even if she were my sister, she wouldn’t choose you."

Chen Ming was stunned.

He couldn’t figure out what he had done this time to be disliked.

He was serious about her, and he wanted to take responsibility. Of course, besides responsibility, a large part of it was because she was genuinely beautiful, delicate, making him want to cherish her. She was so feminine; even when she was being fierce, he found her adorable...

So, she’s angry?

Zhou Yunchen looked at his foolish expression, exasperated, but decided to just give him a hint. "You’re truly hopeless. Letting others hurt those close to you with just a few words—only a fool brings that kind of trouble on themselves."

Chen Ming scratched his head. "Is she angry at me because I was going to take Jiang Chaoge home?"

Zhou Yunchen let out a breath. "Think about it again! How could you agree so easily? And in the end, did her driver actually show up or not?"

It took Chen Ming a good while to finally understand. Was Jiang Chaoge doing that on purpose?

Zhou Yunchen couldn’t be bothered with him anymore and went straight upstairs, waving a hand. "Go home early."

Chen Ming sat alone downstairs for quite some time. He knew he should leave, but he didn’t want to. He ended up crashing on the sofa for the night.
