Chapter 770: Chapter 771: Who is the Unfeeling Master?

As they spoke, they pushed open the door and entered.

King Jingyao was just rolling up a painting scroll. He looked up at Zhou Yunchen. "Not in a rush to go home, are you?"

Zhou Yunchen chuckled. "I still have that much freedom."

King Jingyao walked over and patted his shoulder. "You’ve been overwhelmed lately, haven’t you? That girl looks quite fiery; she must not be easy to get along with."

Zhou Yunchen chuckled. "It’s not too bad, actually. She used to listen to me a lot when she was little."

King Jingyao chuckled briefly and said nothing more, merely gesturing with his eyes for Wang Jingchuan to take the painting scroll and put it in the car.

As Wang Jingchuan packed up the dozen or so paintings, Zhou Yunchen couldn’t help but glance over.

King Jingyao idly played with the thumb ring on his finger and chuckled. "These are paintings I’ve acquired in the last two years. Some were gifts, and some were bought for me by auction houses. Last time, Anxi said my paintings were fake. Well now, these paintings will also be examined by Old He and the others."

Zhou Yunchen didn’t quite understand this subject, so he merely nodded.

He still couldn’t figure out why King Jingyao had called him over; he was clearly a layman in these matters.

King Jingyao spoke to him as they walked out. Noticing his confusion, he chuckled. "Actually, I called you over because I have a few questions for you. Since I’m asking, we might as well liven things up a bit, knowing you don’t have much freedom at home."

Zhou Yunchen gave a wry smile. "Then I must thank Mr. Wang for your consideration."

He paused for a moment before adding, "Actually, Congwen doesn’t restrict me much. I’m quite free."

"Really?" King Jingyao chuckled, not pressing the issue.

The two walked all the way to the car. The driver respectfully opened the car door for them, taking an extra glance at Zhou Yunchen, knowing he was an important figure in Mr. Wang’s circle.

Once they were seated in the car and Wang Jingchuan had settled in the front passenger seat, the doors closed. King Jingyao pressed a button, and a glass partition instantly rose, separating the back seats from the front. He said quietly, "They can’t hear us from the front."

Zhou Yunchen remained composed and chuckled. "It seems Mr. Wang has some questions for me."

King Jingyao leaned back against the seat, his fingers toying with the emerald-green thumb ring. After a moment, he turned his head and slowly began, "Have you heard of Bo Qing’s master?"

Zhou Yunchen nodded. "I know one exists, but..."

King Jingyao chuckled softly. "Precisely. No one knows who this person is now. However..."

With such a hint, how could Zhou Yunchen not understand? After a moment of contemplation, he said, "I’ll ask Yun Duo about it later."

King Jingyao gave a faint smile. "No need to ask. I suspect neither she nor Bo Qing knows, and Min Xin is likely clueless as well... This person is truly unfathomable. Yun Chen, think about it. For Dark to achieve such a scale, it requires not only manpower but also significant financial resources. Where does all that money come from? It can’t just fall from the sky, can it?"

Thinking it over, Zhou Yunchen understood. "You mean... those paintings."

"Not just paintings. There are also various antiques and curios. I’m afraid that... very few genuine pieces are left on the market now." King Jingyao let out a long breath. "And these are things that neither Song Jia nor Bo Qing could have managed. After all, they aren’t experts in these fields and lack the necessary expertise."

Zhou Yunchen’s heart sank. After a long moment, he asked in a hoarse voice, "So, you mean..."

King Jingyao smiled faintly. "My meaning is that these paintings are still being continuously produced. It seems that old fellow is still alive..."

Zhou Yunchen felt a slight shiver run down his spine.

King Jingyao chuckled. "They’re at a dead end, that’s all. Otherwise, why would I have Anxi go to Jiang City?"

Zhou Yunchen glanced at him, then took out two cigarettes. The two men began to smoke, filling the car with clouds of mist...

The car slowly pulled up in front of a private club—none other than Imperial.

Because many important people were expected tonight, Imperial was closed to the public for the day. Gu Changqing was personally there to welcome the guests.

King Jingyao alighted from the car cheerfully. He exchanged a few casual words with Gu Changqing, and then they went upstairs together to a small banquet hall. Though not large, only about 200 square meters, it was luxuriously decorated, with an array of fine wines and delicacies available for the guests.

Wang Jingchuan had someone arrange the paintings and adjust the lighting to its maximum brightness.

Once all this was arranged, guests began to arrive successively. As it was King Jingyao’s invitation, no one dared to decline.

Bo Nianyao and Old He, upon hearing there were famous paintings to appreciate, both came over with magnifying glasses in hand. They didn’t even bother with the food and immediately began to admire the artwork.

Holding a wine glass, King Jingyao chuckled. "Nian Yao and Old He are true painting fanatics."

Zhou Yunchen also chuckled. "But it seems Anxi doesn’t paint very often anymore."

"If she had free time, she wouldn’t paint; she’d rather go play in the mud," King Jingyao sighed. "What a pity, such a genius."

Zhou Yunchen said nothing further. Just then, Jiang Chaoge approached, accompanied by a recently prominent female painter. While others might not have known her, Zhou Yunchen recognized her.

It was Shen Wanqing.

He didn’t frequent art circles, so he had no idea she had come to Beicheng.

Jiang Chaoge, unaware of this connection, introduced Shen Wanqing to King Jingyao. "This is the up-and-coming painter, Miss Shen. She heard there would be famous paintings tonight and came especially to admire them. Mr. Wang, I trust you don’t mind?"

King Jingyao, ever the gallant, merely smiled. "With a beauty gracing us, how could I possibly mind?"

Then, he looked at Zhou Yunchen. "Yunchen, I’ve said you’re a blockhead. Now that you have a wife, you don’t even spare young ladies a glance anymore?"

Zhou Yunchen chuckled. "It’s not that I don’t look, but... she’s an old acquaintance."

He looked at Shen Wanqing, then smiled at King Jingyao and said, "Miss Shen and Anxi practically grew up together."
