Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 701 - 702: Where have you been fooling around so late?
Chu Yan was stunned.
Looking around, she didn’t see the toy that Old Wang had mentioned, so she turned to look at Gu Anxi.
Little Gu was scratching her head and winking at Old Wang— How could he say something like this?
Old Wang looked at her anxiously, then glanced at Chu Yan beside him, his eyes suddenly lighting up. This young girl!
The old man approached and circled her, saying, "So adorable."
He turned to look at his wife. "Can we keep her?"
The old woman gave a steady nod. "If you like her, then keep her."
This back and forth startled Gu Yuntian and Wang Keru. They had just wanted an adoptive daughter, but it seemed this old pair was trying to snatch her away.
Chu Yan was speechless. She had been immensely sad, but the old gentleman had excitedly pulled her into the hall, treating her like an electronic pet, logging her daily food intake and calories burned on a notepad. He even called Wang Keru over to prepare several outfits for her, ready to change her ’skins’ anytime. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Chu Yan: ...
She looked towards Gu Anxi, but Gu Anxi had already made an escape. She was opening the car door and said, "Chu Yan hasn’t had dinner yet."
Then she got into the car and drove off.
Leaving Chu Yan behind, looking at the four old folks, on the verge of tears.
But soon afterwards, she did feel like crying.
Even though Anxi didn’t comfort her, she gave her a home.
She didn’t have a home anymore.
In order to show off her maternal love, Wang Keru personally cooked a meal. The dish turned out burnt and was severely criticized by the old woman. Only after the old woman herself took over did they get something edible...
Chu Yan ate in small bites while the old man watched her and continued his calculations. Wang Keru was taking notes on a piece of paper, listing the things to buy for tomorrow...
Chu Yan’s eyes were teary.
Meanwhile, Chu Ci left the hospital and somehow ended up at their former apartment. Seeing that the lights were off, he knew Chu Yan was afraid of the dark. After about half an hour, he couldn’t resist calling her.
Chu Yan, who was eating, looked at the incoming call and bit her lip.
The four old people were watching. After a while, the old man said, "Is that the heartbreaker calling?"
"It’s not the heartbreaker," Chu Yan muttered quietly.
The old man scoffed. "A man who can’t protect his own woman is worse than a heartbreaker."
Chu Yan bit her lip and spoke to Chu Ci on the other end, "What’s the matter?"
Chu Ci’s voice was soft. "Are you asleep?"
"No." Chu Yan bit her chopsticks, her voice even softer. "I moved out."
Chu Ci was stunned. After a long silence, he finally asked in a hoarse voice, "Where are you?"
"I’m at Anxi’s place." She took a breath. "Anxi’s parents’ place."
Chu Ci stayed silent for a long while, his breathing heavy. It took him a long time before he finally said, "That’s good."
Chu Yan hummed in response. "I’m doing well. You can clean up the apartment and sell it, or you can live there yourself. I... won’t be coming back."
Chu Ci quietly listened, not saying a word. She talked for quite a while before he hung up the phone.
His little girl had flown away. He didn’t blame her. He was the one who hadn’t protected her well, the one who had lost her.
As long as Chu Yan was living well, that would be for the best.
He sat alone in the car and smoked quietly until midnight...
...
At Si Garden, Gu Anxi’s car returned. As she got out, she stretched and yawned, "I’m so tired."
Old Master Bo seemingly appeared out of nowhere. "Where have you been fooling around until this late?"
Gu Anxi was startled. She looked at him, then at the time. "What are you doing here this late instead of sleeping?"
Old Master Bo huffed. "I have to keep an eye on you, you young and cunning thing. I’m watching you on behalf of Nian Yao and the others; otherwise, I have no idea what disgraceful things you’ll do that would tarnish the Bo Family."
As Little Milk Sprite walked towards the Orchid Room, she glanced at him. "Does your Nian Yao know you’re still awake at this ungodly hour?"
Old Master Bo was about to lose his temper. "Such disrespect!"
Gu Anxi stopped in her tracks and looked at him sympathetically, "You’re only brave enough to yell at me. I dare you to try yelling at Mama Bo."
Old Master Bo immediately became subdued, giving a light huff. "Why would I yell at her! She’s too fierce."
Gu Anxi chuckled. "Am I not fierce then?"
Old Master Bo cast her a sidelong glance, his voice low. "You are much more cunning than her, much worse."
Having said that, he followed her. "Wait for me! You show no respect for your elders at all."
"You’re staying up this late and blaming me?" Gu Anxi patted her tummy. "I’m hungry."
As she headed for the kitchen, Old Master Bo said coolly from behind, "The kitchen is cold, and there’s nothing to eat."
Ignoring him, Gu Anxi went straight to the kitchen and saw a well-preserved midnight snack on the counter. Old Master Bo was dumbfounded—why didn’t he ever get such treatment?
Gu Anxi had a hearty appetite, while Old Master Bo drooled on the side.
"Want some?" she glanced up.
Caught off guard, the old fellow huffed, "I’m not that greedy."
This tough act resulted in him going hungry, practically drooling all the way back to the Orchid Room. Upon reaching the door, Little Milk Sprite coldly closed it on him. "This is my private time with Uncle. No observers allowed."
The old man huffed in frustration, completely rebuffed.
Gu Anxi chuckled, turning around to find her uncle.
At midnight, Bo Xichen was not asleep, working on his laptop in his study.
She approached him from behind and embraced him. "Uncle, guess who I am?"
"Playing these childish games every day, and you never get tired of them!" He laughed a little and pulled her over to sit beside him, pointing at the screen. "I’ve made a few modifications for you."
Gu Anxi sat in his lap, tapped a few keys, and pulled up a set of data. After a while, she looked up. "Uncle, you’re so smart."
He nestled his chin into her hair and laughed. "How’s Chu Yan?"
"I sent her to my parents’ place. Old Mr. Wang was ecstatic," Gu Anxi said, trying not to laugh.
Bo Xichen flicked her forehead lightly. "Don’t go celebrating just yet. Your big brother has been waiting for your explanation for that stunt you pulled. This isn’t something you can just brush aside. There’s a lot of serious talk about it, though it’s being kept under wraps for now."
Gu Anxi gazed at him with a pleading look. "Uncle."
Uncle Bo chuckled. "You’re going to get a scolding either way."
"Uncle, you don’t love me!" she whined, clinging to him.
Bo Xichen looked down at her, surprised. "How much more love do you want? Tell me, hmm?"
Gu Anxi held onto him. "How about this? I won’t go out anymore. If Big Brother comes looking for me, just say I’m pregnant. He won’t dare to get angry. If he scares me, it might affect the baby."
Bo Xichen massaged his forehead. "Your big brother and Min Xin will just think you’re full of tricks."
The little schemer immediately brightened. "But I made contributions too!"
Bo Xichen started to get back to work, but she closed his laptop and declared confidently, "If I’m going to be scolded anyway, Uncle, you should reward me first."
He laughed and playfully pinched her nose. "Rewards aren’t handed out like this."
...
After a while, Little Milk Sprite leaned on his shoulder and asked softly, "Does being pregnant mean I can’t go running around anymore?"
Bo Xichen’s voice was slightly hoarse. "Mm-hm."
"Then, after things calm down, can we have a baby?" Gu Anxi whispered. "I promise I’ll be a good mom."
Bo Xichen tried to imagine her as a mother. He figured she wouldn’t be much better than his mother-in-law and merely smiled. Taking care of the child would likely fall to his own mother, or perhaps even to him personally.
Little Milk Sprite was tired and getting sleepy, her voice gradually fading. "Uncle, Old Master Bo is quite pitiful, you know? No one in the family pays him any attention."
Bo Xichen gently patted her head, sighing softly.
She wanted to say something else, but she was just too tired...
Early in the morning, Uncle Bo cheerfully went out. Old Master Bo suddenly appeared from somewhere. "Xichen, where’s that little brat of yours?"
Bo Xichen paused. "She’s still sleeping."
The old man’s beard twitched. "Still sleeping? What time is it?"
Bo Xichen lowered his eyes. "She usually gets up at ten, eats, then goes to the company."
Old Master Bo paced back and forth restlessly. "This won’t do. The Cloud He Group will be ruined by her sooner or later."
