Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 308 - 309: Bo Qing 2
The Bo Family was a clan that highly valued tradition and etiquette. Younger members typically did not enter the elders’ private rooms. Yet, at this moment, Gu Anxi hadn’t just entered—she was lying on the Family Head’s bed.
This was quite contrary to etiquette.
However, this also showed that Lady Bo genuinely cherished Gu Anxi as her own child, far more than just a daughter-in-law.
Bo Qing sighed, walked over, bent down, and placed his slender, jade-like palm on Gu Anxi’s forehead.
Gu Anxi, who was burning up quite severely, didn’t wake. Half-consciously, she caught Bo Qing’s hand, murmuring, "Master."
Bo Qing raised an eyebrow.
Lady Bo said softly, "She probably thinks it’s Master He. They have a very close relationship."
Bo Qing smiled. "So that’s how it is."
He gently withdrew his hand and said calmly, "Don’t worry, it’s just a common cold. I’ll get some medication, and she’ll be fine in two or three days."
Hearing this, Lady Bo felt reassured and also comforted Wang Keru. "Ke Ru, if Bo Qing says it’s nothing serious, then it’s definitely nothing serious."
Wang Keru heaved a sigh of relief. "This child scared me to death. She’s usually so healthy and rarely gets sick. Why has she been feeling unwell so often lately? Xichen’s mom, do you think it might be an aftereffect of the car accident?"
Lady Bo pondered for a moment. "I don’t think so. Perhaps lately... she’s been too exhausted!"
As for *how* she had been exhausted, neither mother could quite bring herself to say it.
Just then, a servant came to report that a member of a collateral branch had arrived, wishing to discuss an important matter with Lady Bo.
Lady Bo patted Wang Keru’s hand. "You stay here and look after Anxi. I’ll be back soon."
Wang Keru nodded.
Lady Bo departed.
In just a short while, Bo Qing, Bo Xichen’s second uncle, returned, holding cold medicine and a fever reducer. He smiled faintly. "Could I trouble you to pour a glass of water for Anxi?"
Wang Keru then remembered that medicine needed to be taken with water. It couldn’t be swallowed dry, could it?
So she went to fetch water. However, she wasn’t very familiar with the layout of Lady Bo’s chambers and ended up taking several minutes, turning this way and that, to find it.
In the tranquil bedroom, Gu Anxi lay on her side, her raven-black hair fanned out on the gray pillow. Her face was a little pale, yet it held an unnatural flush.
Bo Qing sat by the bedside and reached out again, placing his hand on her forehead—
Gu Anxi gently gripped his hand. "Master."
Bo Qing didn’t pull away. His fingers lightly touched her small head as he asked in a deep, steady voice, "Are you feeling very uncomfortable?"
The groggy young woman couldn’t answer him. She pressed her face deeper into the pillow. Perhaps she caught Lady Bo’s scent, for she murmured softly again, "Uncle."
In her sleep, she was thinking of Bo Xichen.
A flicker of an unreadable emotion crossed Bo Qing’s stern face, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. He regained his composure and rose—because the sound of hurried footsteps came from outside.
Then, Bo Xichen entered. He, too, was somewhat surprised to see Gu Anxi sleeping in his parents’ bedroom, but like Bo Qing, he quickly understood the reason.
He looked at Bo Qing. "Second Uncle."
Bo Qing smiled. "It’s nothing serious, just a cold."
Bo Xichen sat down and also checked on Gu Anxi. Only when he confirmed there was no serious issue did he feel slightly relieved.
But a moment later, as if recalling something, his face grew slightly warm, and a touch of awkwardness appeared.
Fortunately, Wang Keru returned just then, holding a glass of water.
Bo Xichen quickly stood up. "Auntie, let me."
Wang Keru didn’t argue and handed him the water.
Bo Xichen gently patted Gu Anxi’s face. "Anxi, take your medicine before you go back to sleep."
Hearing his voice, Gu Anxi automatically rested her head on his lap. "Uncle," she murmured.
Her hands wrapped around his waist, and she continued to sleep, her eyes still closed.
Wang Keru felt a sense of helplessness. This child had truly become very attached to Xichen.
A sense of reassurance settled in her heart. Anxi truly needed someone like Xichen; they were a perfect match...
She asked Bo Qing to leave with her. On the way, Wang Keru sighed, "Xichen seems to like Anxi very much, and Anxi seems particularly smitten with Xichen. Those two are truly a match made in heaven."
Gazing at the bright moon in the sky, Bo Qing smiled enchantingly. "Indeed, they are."
Wang Keru laughed happily. "Second Uncle Bo, do you not have a girlfriend? I can introduce you to someone."
Bo Qing said calmly, "I already have someone I like."
"Oh," Wang Keru replied. "So you do have someone you like. She must be very outstanding then."
Bo Qing said nothing more and lightly stepped out of his elder brother and sister-in-law’s chambers. Wang Keru glanced back at him before she also departed.
With Xichen looking after Anxi, she couldn’t be more relieved.
「In the bedroom」
It took Bo Xichen a long time to coax Gu Anxi into taking her medicine.
Seeing her cling to his arm even in her sleep, Bo Xichen gently pinched her nose. "Taking advantage of being pampered, are we?" he teased.
Gu Anxi was feeling a bit better now, but she still held onto his arm with her eyes closed, acting like a little child. "It’s all your fault. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have caught a cold. Isn’t it your duty to take care of me?"
A wave of warmth washed over Bo Xichen’s heart, and his face felt a little hot. "I’ll be more careful in the future," he murmured.
He gently stroked her hair, softly coaxing her to sleep... After about half an hour of this back and forth, she finally fell asleep.
Only after Bo Xichen confirmed she was truly alright did he hurry to join the elders for their meal. Just then, Bo Jin also arrived. Hearing that Gu Anxi was ill, he was so concerned that he didn’t even bother with food and came straight over to see her.
When he saw Gu Anxi sleeping on his elder brother and sister-in-law’s bed, he too was somewhat stunned!
They were all intelligent people, so they quickly grasped the true meaning behind Bo Xichen’s earlier words: the Bo Family would soon have one more member.
Gu Anxi’s surname might be Gu, but in reality, she was already considered one of the Bos.
「After dinner」
Everyone quietly went to check on their treasured darling again. The Bo Family Head then personally examined her once more before everyone finally felt completely at ease.
Father Bo thought for a moment, then said, "Your mother and I will sleep in the guest room tonight. Xichen, you stay here and look after Anxi. It gets chilly at night, so don’t go back to the Orchid Room."
Bo Xichen nodded. "I was thinking the same."
Father Bo looked at his son and snorted lightly. "You’d better take good care of her from now on! Anxi has always been very healthy, full of life and energy. In your hands, she’s been unwell off and on. If you can’t look after her properly, we’ll find someone else who can."
Mother Bo also said, "Your aunt and I feel the same way."
Bo Xichen rubbed his forehead. "I’ll be more careful in the future."
Wang Keru was somewhat at a loss. She... she... she had only known Anxi was greatly doted upon, but she’d had no idea Anxi held such an incredibly high status in the Bo Family!
「Later, when they went out」
Bo Jin slowly explained to her, "My eldest brother and his wife only have Xichen. My sister-in-law always longed for a daughter but never had her wish fulfilled. Anxi is beautiful, capable, and she knows how to keep all the elders happy. How could my brother and sister-in-law not dote on her as if she were their own flesh and blood?"
He patted Wang Keru’s hand again. "Don’t you worry. In our family, Anxi is our cherished darling. She won’t suffer the slightest grievance."
Wang Keru was truly overwhelmed by this favor. She was silent for a moment before saying, "I was originally planning to leave tomorrow. There are matters in Qingcheng I can’t quite set aside. But now... I’ll stay a couple more days. I’ll head back once Anxi has recovered."
