Building The Strongest Family-Chapter 32: Cheap Bargain
Chapter 32: Cheap Bargain
"Master, based on the information I've accessed from the police database, it appears that the deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Osborn were orchestrated by the Sterling Family. The police were aware it was no accident, yet Chief Tom Hanks halted the investigation," Evolon stated in its cold, emotionless voice.
Arthur remained silent, his eyes reflecting a chilling hatred that simmered beneath the surface.
"Apparently, Chief Tom received orders from his superiors to cease all inquiries into this matter. I initiated a deep trace protocol and accessed internal communications and command logs of the police department. I discovered a directive sent to Chief Tom by his immediate superior, Commissioner Laura Hayes," Evolon continued.
Arthur raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Deputy Commissioner Hayes? Why would she stop the investigation? Who instructed her?"
Evolon responded swiftly, "After analyzing Deputy Commissioner Hayes' communications, I traced a series of encrypted messages exchanged between her and a high-ranking wealthy individual. These messages suggest that Hayes was acting on orders from someone outside the police department."
Arthur's curiosity peaked as he asked urgently, "Outside the department? Who is it?"
"The messages originated from a private server linked to a shell company," Evolon explained in it's cold tone.
"However, I managed to bypass the encryption and trace the IP address to a secure location."
"Where?" Arthur pressed.
"The IP address leads to a private estate owned by Christopher Campbell," Evolon replied.
A puzzled expression crossed Arthur's face as he asked, "Christopher Campbell? Who is he?"
"Master Christopher Campbell is the third son of Mark Campbell, head of the influential Campbell Family," Evolon clarified.
Confusion etched on his features, Arthur said, "Evolon, quickly search for information about the Campbell Family for me."
"Affirmative, Master," came Evolon's prompt response.
"Initiating… Information gathered." A moment later, Evolon's voice rang out again.
"That was fast!" Arthur smiled; he was growing fonder of Evolon by the second.
"Tell me about the Campbell Family, just the basics," he urged eagerly.
"Affirmative." Evolon's tone remained steady as it elaborated: "The Campbell Family has roots stretching back over one hundred years in the Aurelian Federation.
They are among its most powerful families with significant influence in both business and politics.
Their main base is in Metrospire, the first capital city of our federation.
The Campbells rank among the top five wealthiest families here, with net worths estimated in hundreds of billions or even trillions of Unicreds!
Their connections run deep within Aurelian government circles; several family members hold high-ranking positions such as senators and governors.
Their interests span multiple industries including real estate, banking and finance, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, essentially they have their fingers in every pie!"
Arthur sat in silence, absorbing Evolon's reports about the Campbell Family.
He couldn't believe that after such a short time in this world, he was already facing a mid-level boss.
The power and influence of the Campbell Family shocked him; he never imagined they were worth trillions and had such deep political connections.
No wonder Christopher Campbell could command a Commissioner with just a flick of his wrist!
With a bitter chuckle, Arthur shook his head. "We used to be worth trillions too," he muttered.
"Why is Christopher targeting me and my family? Last I checked, the Osborn Family hasn't offended them," Arthur quickly snapped back to reality and asked Evolon.
"Master, the reason Christopher Campbell is targeting the Osborn Family is due to the piece of land your father bought about four months ago.
All the misfortunes that have befallen your family, almost going bankrupt, are orchestrated by Christopher Campbell," Evolon explained.
Arthur's expression darkened as he processed this information.
He hadn't realized that all their troubles stemmed from this Christopher guy, and that his parents' deaths might be connected too.
"Damn!" His face twisted with anger, turning red with resentment.
"Master, please calm down! Your blood pressure is rising. Take a deep breath," Evolon's voice rang out soothingly.
Arthur inhaled deeply and managed to steady himself, though confusion still clouded his mind. "I don't understand... Even if that land is huge and they plan to build a subway station and schools there, why would this guy go so far for it?"
"Master, you're underestimating its value," Evolon replied with a hint of playfulness I'm it's cold voice. "Even if I were human, I would do anything to acquire that land."
"What do you mean?" Arthur asked, taken aback.
"You see, Master, the Osborn Family got an incredible bargain here, what humans call 'hitting the jackpot,'" Evolon said with a hint of teasing.
Arthur rolled his eyes at Evolon's teasing tone but pressed on impatiently. "Just tell me!"
Evolon continued to explain"According to my calculations, if managed well, in five years that land could be worth hundreds of billions, or even trillions! And the piece your father bought approximately is 10,000 square kilometers."
"Holy motherfucking cow!" Arthur jumped up in shock as realization washed over him like ice water.
"Evolon, are you serious? My father bought 10,000 square kilometers of land for just 15 million unicreds?" Arthur stammered, disbelief etched across his face.
"Affirmative, Master,"Evolon replied matter-of-factly.
Arthur inhaled sharply, his mind racing.
"Hissss!"The sheer magnitude of the deal left him flabbergasted.
How could anyone score such a bargain?
Sure, 10,000 square kilometers might not seem like much on Panterra, a planet so vast it dwarfs Earth, but if you were to plop that size down on Earth? It would rival small countries and major cities!
Let's break it down:
New York City (USA): 783.8 square kilometers, meaning this land is about 12.7 times larger than NYC!
London (UK): 1,572 square kilometers, so it's roughly 6.4 times the size of London.
Tokyo (Japan): 2,194 square kilometers, making it about 4.6 times bigger than Tokyo.
Los Angeles (USA): 1,302 square kilometers, this land is approximately 7.7 times the size of LA!
And when comparing to countries:
Puerto Rico: 9,104 square kilometers, it's slightly larger than Puerto Rico.
Lebanon: 10,452 square kilometers, it's almost the same size as Lebanon.
Jamaica: 10,991 square kilometers, just a tad smaller than Jamaica.
Connecticut (USA): 14,357 square kilometers, about 70% the size of Connecticut.
Now let's look at some landmasses:
Wales (UK): 20,779 square kilometers, it's roughly half the size of Wales.
Hawaii (USA): 28,311 square kilometers, that makes this plot about 35% the size of Hawaii.
Lake Ontario (North America): At 18,960 square kilometers, it's around 53% the size of Lake Ontario.
To visualize it better: Imagine a piece of land that's 100 km long and 100 km wide, that's exactly how massive this area is!
It could fit 12 New York Cities or six Londons within its borders!
After running these numbers through his head like a calculator gone wild.
Arthur felt a wave of weakness wash over him as he slumped into his chair, utterly stunned and lost in a daze. The shock was palpable.
"Haha! Hahaha!" he suddenly burst out, his body trembling with laughter.
"Hahahahahahahahahah!"
Arthur threw his head back, laughter erupting from deep within him.
It was so intense that tears streamed down his cheeks, and his face flushed bright red. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
He laughed until it hurt, ten minutes straight of pure joy.
Taking a deep breath to regain composure, he still couldn't suppress the twitching of his lips; the laughter just wouldn't stop.
"Master, I can see you're truly happy," Evolon's emotionless voice chimed in.
"Of course, Evolon! How could I not be thrilled? We're talking about 10,000 square kilometers of land here!" Arthur exclaimed excitedly.
"Master, it's just 10,000 square kilometers. Why are you so excited?" Evolon replied matter-of-factly.
Arthur's excitement faltered as he shot a confused look at Evolon. "Is this really how humans are meant to converse?"
"Master, I am not human," Evolon stated flatly.
Arthur's words caught in his throat as he struggled to respond.
"Well... um..." His face twitched slightly; if Evolon were human, he might have punched it by now for its lack of understanding!
"Master, Panterra have a Surface Area of 51 billion square kilometers, Radius 29,550 kilometers and a Volume of 100 trillion cubic kilometers. So a land of 10,000 square kilometers is not something to be shocked about ". Evolon explained.
Taking another deep breath to steady himself, Arthur realized that Panterra operated on an entirely different scale than Earth.
That 10,000 square kilometers would be considered a country back home but here? Just an abandoned piece of land worth a mere $15 million!
"Speaking of which," Arthur asked curiously, "why is such a vast area only valued at $15 million and left abandoned?"
Evolon explained, " Master ten years ago the government planned to develop that area into the central hub of Neo-Luminara during an election campaign.
However, when the president lost the election amidst various setbacks, those plans fell through.
Over the years they attempted to revive interest in that land but ultimately failed, so two years ago it was put on sale but no one was willing to buy as they all seem it as worthless until your father bought it "
"So that's why it's been sitting there," Arthur said slowly as clarity washed over him.
Evolon continued, " Infact numerous wealthy individuals had their eyes on that land too, they knew about the government's intentions but were too late; your father had already secured it before they could act! The top five families in the country had even planned to jointly develop it."
"But why can't the government just go ahead and develop it themselves?" Arthur wondered aloud.
Evolon replied logically. "The government prefers not to waste resources. They simply need to announce plans for subways or schools nearby, and people will rush to buy up that land for development."
"Hmmm," Arthur nodded thoughtfully; he recognized the truth in what Evolon said.
